The other thing you need to remember is that your “50%” effort will change the fitter and healthier you get… so 50% at the beginning could well be the same as 30-40% after a year or so training. As coach Greg would say, because you are becoming a better butter burner. So consistently putting in 50% will always be progression in that sense

I quit so many times because it was just too draining. Now years later into my fitness journey I'm having the best shape I ever had in my life and I'm doing everything in my own capacity. I'm training as much during the week as I can and what also brings me joy plus I try to have a balanced /fairly healthy diet. I think if you find your own way and what works for you it's actually quite easy to be fit.

Everyone should watch Dr. Mke Isreatel's video on fat loss motivation. My fitness journey started with a walk down the street and back. Almost 2 years later it's push, pull legs. 6 days a week in the gym and prepping meals for the week on Sunday. If you start small at a less daunting, intimidating regiment, you might just fall in love with the process. It's not about goals. They are important but not as important feeling progression. Great video and message coach.
@VRIceblast2 жыл бұрын
People are either eating under or over Maintenance, Usually over. If people would just not eat over maintenance, then they would never gain the weight back, or throw in some cardio if you go over, to burn off the extra you eat from time to time. Instead, people go on a diet, and then go off their diet, and eat whatever they want, and then they are surprised they gained all the weight back. If you aren't paying attention to your calorie intake, you're going to gain weight. I'm talking to the avg person that needs to lose weight. Those who are fit, and burn a lot of calories because they are constantly doing something, probably don't have to watch their calories that often, because they are constantly burning the weight off. When you diet, you do it for life. People need to learn this.

Sensible advice, because a huge % of people give up because its "too hard". Whereas, starting "half-arsed" is less work, less pressure, but the "mild gains" achieved will motivate to step up training, and slowly the improvements get addictive. Enjoyment is the key. I returned to training again after several years lay-off. Been nearly 2yrs now, and I am still training 6 evenings per week, 1.5hrs per night, 3 bodyparts per session, and pushing every set to failure. Gained around 12kg + lost body fat. Feel guilty if I miss a session, rest day = wanting to get to next session day. Currently midway through a half week deload (total rest) and systemic fatigue hasn't passed as yet, but still looking forward to first session back training....... all because results motivate me, and I enjoy pushing my body to its limits.

I was very out of shape when I started my diet. I couldn't stand on my feet 5mins, without needing to sit down. I got VR and I could only play 5mins at a time, but slowly, I could do 10mins, and then 15, and so on, and I started to lose weight, but I also had to eat at a deficit. 5 mins here, and there through out the day, all adds up at the end. It doesn't matter how fast you cross the finish line. 95% of people keep restarting the race, so does it matter how fast you are when you losing weight, or does it matter that your one of the 5% that actually crosses the finish line. I'm down 103 pounds, and the finish line is now in sight, and I'm pushing harder than last time to get there faster. :)

I slowly built up from there. My next goal is to lose 10+ lbs and get my body fat lower. Just started researching this recently which is how I found Greg here. Might give some of his recipes a try. This is so true. When I first began I was eating still kinda bad, but in smaller portions. Then I started with one good meal a day, I kept learning about macros and micros and overtime I managed to understand how to make a delicious, nutricious, low calorie high volume meal. Than I started doing exercise once a week. Just 1:30 hours every Tuesday. Then I added the dance class on Thursday. Then a friend invited me to the gym and I started going 3 times a week. Over the months I started going more often. Now I go 6 days a week and I only miss it when I'm going to explore some town, to hike or when I get sick. Then walking, I started with 5000 steps, then 10. Now I make 15-20,000 steps per day (also, my work sometimes forces me to do even more). But it took me 2 years to begin and make my lifestyle part of me. If I had started doing what I do now, I, for sure, would have quitted after one week.

Avoiding junk food is surprisingly easy. I make sure to have plenty of healthy foods and no junk foods at home. This way, eating healthy is the path of least resistance. Being lazy or distracted is a virtue instead of a vice. It's too bad that most of life isn't this easy. :) In my opinion, self-improvement measures that involve NOT doing something are easier than self-improvement measures that require doing something. The former don't require me to lift a finger. The latter require doing something, and that not only requires effort but can also require getting certain details parsed just right. In some cases, it feels like all the planets have to be properly aligned as well.
