My 99 ultra just turned 90k. And still runs great. I seem to over maintain, but hay, she's paid for. Just up grade a little bit each year. Finally got my progressive shocks.

80k on my 07, came from a sport bike and a magna. This is a great practical road bike. Haven't done anything but tires and brakes. Ride it daily. Thing always starts and is a great commuter. Never thought id be on a Harley let alone a UC but it's the best bike in my mind. To each their own but if you ride everyday you'll know what I'm talking about.

I own the same model/type of HD..mine is FLHTCUI. I traded 2 motorcycles in 2015 to get my HD and it is Aspen Blue (Teal?) and got a flying eagle painted on the front surface of the fairing. What I traded was 1977 Honda Goldwing GL1000 and 1976 Honda CB750-F series Supersports. I have done basic maintenance on it since purchase...Oil change, battery replacement w AGM type, new tall mirrors so that I do not have to look down to the mirrors but they are at my vision levels..I would still like to have much taller mirrors because I do not slump while riding, I sit tall and straight...a posture that I used as I grew up riding various bikes in India. Air filter..cleaned it out and recharged the existing K&N filter. Bike runs great and at night, it glows with blue LED..blue on teal..Just completed 37,000 miles. Also cleaned out both master cylinder brake fluid reservoirs and filled them with fresh DOT4 BF. I got some GoPro video of my bike on my channel. No major issue..I love my FLHTCUI.

I suspect it has something to do with wide availability of repair but I was waiting for some info about their design, engineering or manufacturing tolerances. My buddy had 340K on his 07 Street Glide when he totaled it last year. The motor had never been opened, just regular maintenance. I have 100K on my 07 CVO Ultra, I bought it used and regularly put pore miles on it than the original owner. Everything works, and it's a CVO so there is a lot of extra (and useless) wiring crap on the bike. I have no worries at all. Why are people impressed with 60-70K on a Harley? Of course it runs "like new". If you have such a bike, it is a garage queen, you barely ride it. Griping about parts availability? You have M7M injection? Go aftermarket, convert to a carburetor. My buddy bought n 08 Ultra with a few thousand miles on it dirt cheap last year. I think he has put 20K on it already. The guys I know with news Harleys have no more or less problems than the guys with old ones. It's just that the solutions can be a little different. Federal law mandates replacement part availability from manufacturers for 10 years, so it certainly isn't just Harley that does this. Harley has the strongest aftermarket support of any vehicle on the road, and I don't mean motorcycle princess bling crap, I mean you can build a bike from aftermarket parts. No worries at all. Unless you talk to a Harley dealership about it, then you have serious worries. I know guys with the old MM injection, they just convert to a carb. I know people that regularly ride knuckles, pans, shovels, and evos...my other bike is an evo.

An EVO powered bike CAN literally last forever. The EVO engine was designed to be inexpensively rebuilt, and if you want, you could even put an S&S engine in it. A well taken care of EVO can go 100,000 miles. The Twin Cam was built using Japanese technology. It was built to be disposable. Yes, for the moment it can be repaired. But there doesn't seem to be nearly as much aftermarket support for the Twin Cam. And while it can be rebuilt, it will cost several times as much as it would cost to rebuild an EVO.

Based on the video title, thought this would be about the 99% of Hardly Runningson owners in this state that are simply posers with too much money on their hands. They piss away a fortune on an inferior motorcycle only to leave it parked in the garage, pulling it out to the driveway on warm sunny days to show it off and have the neighbors think they are badass bikers and only ride about 30 miles a year...that's how their bike would last so long. To those type I say, "sorry Dr. Dickhead, 30 grand and 30 miles does not make you a biker." I do have a neighbor that him and his wife ride theirs fairly often, but not anywhere near how much I ride either my Honda or my Kawasaki all year, cold, snow, rain, etc. My old Hardly would NEVER stand up to how I ride and kept breaking down. I can afford the bike, just not all the parts, maintenance, down time...nope, no more HDs for me. I need a reliable bike that doesn't mind being left in the extreme elements year round without letting me down. Besides, does anyone really think that the bike knows, or gives a rat's ass, that the sticker on the side says Hardly? And now the insults from the Harley brainwashed that drank the kool-aid will begin because they are all butt hurt.
@EvLSpectre7 жыл бұрын
Yeap......I got a new HD and the thing broke on me within a week. Did proper engine break in within one day, and rode it like hell the rest of the week. Did proper warm up and crap too, and engine blew after a week. Been on my MT09, wheelies, track days, stunt sessions, and shes been fine. Getting pegged at limiter all the time, and going strong after 14K. Theres a few people who bring their bikes out twice a year, claiming it lasts forever.....yea, that 20 year old bike that gets 30 miles a year of course is going to last a while because it is never ridden. One guy I met claims he is a real rider, yet his HD road glide king classic ultra deluxe softail low boy has only gotten 1K miles in 3 years. I have had mine MT a year. Not to mention the whole power thing. Oh you have 1800cc and only make 100hp and 150ftlb? I am running a 847cc making more hp and about half the torque. Its the reason why the new Indian 1901cc is a joke too. Vmax and M109R have smaller engines and make tons more power.

@nonaubiz89396 жыл бұрын
Quik Horse, 1: you might want to get some spelling lessons or at least autocorrect on your computer so you don't look completely illiterate and 2: I'm not the least bit angry. In fact, anger has nothing to do with my comment. I am simply pointing out facts that most Hardly riders are posers and that Hardly makes a mediocre bike at best and they are way over priced and unreliable, that is why I sold mine and quit drinking the Hardly Runningson Kool Aid. If you are butt hurt it just shows that you are most likely one of the poser to which I refer.
@Snodude_6 жыл бұрын
Nona Ubiz You sound like an angry child. Would you leave a Brand new corvette in the weather if you had a garage? Would you leave a tool outside when you could put it in a garage ? No so the garage queen statement is a foolish comparison Most Harley have no problems if you ride it like a high rev engine without building it to handle that of course shits gonna happen. I doubt you bought a bike then within a week of a brand new bike it blew up You sound like a jealous honda fanboy keyboard Rossi. People can ride what they wanna ride but people Like you just create division Like it’s the cool thing to do. When you grow up you’ll realize you don’t leave nice shit out in the weather. Now go ahead and tell me how your Honda sits out in the weather without a battery tender or cover all season and has no issues..... I’m really interested in your bullshit opinion Tell me more please enlighten the KZbin community with your intelligence.
@nonaubiz89396 жыл бұрын
Obviously you are a poser of which I refer. I am 60 years old and have been riding since my first minibike age 8. I have no problem with people parking a bike in the garage, only when it stays there 99.9% of the time like most Hardly Runningson owners. No doubt you are one of them. As a matter of fact, I DO leave my bikes out in the elements and ride all year, hence have no need for a battery tender. Tenders are only for little pussies like you that never ride enough to stop the battery from going flat. I am not the least bit angry. I owned a Harley in the past and it was a POS and I will never pay that much for an inferior bike again. I can purchase a Honda or Kawasaki that is equal to or better than a comparable HD and thousands of dollars less. Either of them will ride smoother, require less maintenance, are more reliable, are less expensive to insure, and will outperform the HD WITHOUT requiring it to be "staged" read that as another Hardly Runningson scam. I once drank the Kool-Aid, too, so I understand, but I will not do it again. My ass doesn't care what name is stuck on the side of the tank, but my wallet and my intelligence both do. Ride what you want, I don't care, it's your decision, I just think that HD is better at marketing than they are at making motorcycles. I am not the only one with such a view about Harley's. If you have never heard of Sonny Barger he is a founding member of the Hell's Angels in Oakland (1957) and in his book, which a excerpt can be found on Wikipedia, he writes "In terms of pure workmanship, personally I don't like Harleys. I ride them because I'm in the club, and that's the image, but if I could I would seriously consider riding a Honda ST1100 or a BMW. We really missed the boat not switching over to the Japanese models when they began building bigger bikes. I'll usually say "Fuck Harley-Davidson." So, would you consider Sonny a "Honda fanboy" or a "keyboard Rossi" (whatever the Hell that is), too? Quit playing with yourself in your mommies basement and go get your motorcycle endorsement and buy a bike and ride the damn thing all year long and then when your HD POS keeps breaking down and you can't afford all of the repairs or the down time, you, if you have even a modicum of intellect, will understand how good HD is their BS propaganda.
