Great video Sven, I really love padel, I started taking it more seriously over the last year, taking lessons, playing more matches and of course the free lessons that you share here are helping out greatly. I feel like i'm getting a little bit better every time at the positioning and the correct shot choices for certain situations. Communicating with your partner really helps a lot. This summer I started playing tournaments and I already won some with a few different partners! Thanks for the video, it's always exciting to get a notification when you publish a new one!

Sven, not really related to this video, but maybe you can help with the mental aspect of the below. We are frequently experiencing following situation. We play against opponents which are obviously lower level then us, which we should beat without too much issues. We start the game well, typically we quickly lead 3 or 4 to 0. We also get confirmation in our minds that we are the better team. And then it begins, not sure what it is of the below or a combination of all - we loose concentration - we become over confident - we start making unforced errors - we start trying fancy shots This then makes our game/level only slightly better then the opponents and we make it difficult for ourselves, put again stress in the game, battling for points. As a consequence we start losing points and games, therefore try to force points, leading to unforced errors and again losing points, and we start spiralling down in level. We then typically still win the first set, 6 to 3 or so, because we were already ahead. But then second set become more challenging and sometimes even loose it. In the end, we overall still win, but it is a fight/challenge. Where we normally should win, lets say 6-2, 6-1, we then only win with 6-3, 7-5 or so. We adapt our level to the level of the opponent bringing us in trouble, instead of taking control of the game and just do our thing and win it easily. Any tips, guidance on how we can avoid this? Thanks

Thank you for the tips and clear explanations, Sven! I like my partner when they tell me where they are going to serve (and serve there). It may sound like a small thing but I’ve noticed it helps knowing where the next ball is going to come and I can adjust my net position accordingly.

Great video! One annoying thing your partner can do is when we’re both at net and the ball is lobbed behind me, they yell “I’ve got it!” and run behind you. Now we’re both on one side of the court, and the opponents just have to play to the other corner/fence for an easy win.

Great Video, especially the positioning and shot placement tips were really useful for me. Concerning my partner, I have no issue with how he plays or even if he is negative towards me, my issue is that he is constantly judging himself and will mentally check-out after a couple of mistakes. And the worst part (for me) is that he will always say that it was bad luck, not that he made mistakes, which holds him back instead of making him better.

There’s a lot to stress about 😂 Playing with a lot of different people have illustrated the following negativities for me ; 1) The Pro; every ball they hit must be a winner (more out/net/glass balls than winning) 2) The whiner , complains about himself all the time of breezes when you make an error (even when you make less errors than him) 3) Demoralized, already gives away the game after losing 1 set. 4) The apologizer, for every thing saying sorry Bottom line, focus on your game and try to be as best as possible with a minimum of unforced errors. Keep a positive mindset for you and your partner and help eachother out physically and mentally ! 🤙😎

Very helpful video for me! In general, i still very much struggle getting my basic positioning on the court to be Decent. Being new to the sport, staying at the back of the court, as shown in tip 9, has been my cardinal sin for a while. Recently, i have taken position at the net more dynamically, falling for the, later mentioned, trap of running towards the net in to rapid a pace. Reducing the size of my steps has helped, but timing the split-step correctly remains difficult. As i practice more, i hope to find strike the balance between taking the net quickly and still having time to respond to the return.

Great video always. Funny and informative. A few good tips to try. A couple of other things that can make a game less enjoyable. Angry partner. I have played in pay and play games where someone went for a few smashes, missed hit the net. ( everytime ) and decided to smash up their racquet. Have played in a game where we had to wait because someone was too busy standing in the corner shouting at themselves. Nice video, and I recognise a lot of the points you make from either myself, partner or opponents. Negativity is something I dislike in my partner the most as well, since it makes the game really toxic. Especially if people are justifying it by saying they are just competitive, even if you are competitive there is no reason to be an a**hole to your partner. A point you have not mentioned which I really dislike is if my partner has no sportsmanship. So he/she calls everything out if it is close, etc.

Players that: - Get angry with themselves and like to express it. - Are dishonest. - Do not hold themselves accountable. (Blame you for losing a point, for say not reaching a smash, when it was their shot that directly resulted in that situation). - Constantly experiment or force points especially at inappropriate times (golden points) ... Worse still if they repeatedly try the same thing and it's clearly not working. If they attempt the right shot at the right time and it fails, then no problem. - Have very little patience when building points. - Refuse to learn/Know-it-all. (Edit: tidy up)

I struggle when a team mate calls out "yours" the split second prior to me hitting the ball when they are 3+ meters away and never in a position to play the shot themselves. Breaks my concentration. Also when a team mate does not cover the centre and assumes it is my responsibility to cover as well as the line when they are serving or when they play diagonally and not then move towards the centre. 😮
