Yes I completely agree. My uncle(black) has been married to my aunt in law (caucasian) for over 20 years and my 2 little girl cousins have 2 very different textures but not straight. She found braiding their hair when they were younger was easiest and healthiest. At first she did not know how to do cornrows(before youtube was a popular tutorial site) she only did single braids. My other older cousin did her daughters hair in cornrows as my aunt watched. When it was take down time my aunt said she slowly unraveled the braids to learn. Point of the story is she learned cornrows and many other protective styles for my cousins. She found the right products that worked for them and everything. 💖

Nyanza Rojas Do you not see how many black children have perms or relaxers in their hair? Do you not see how many black children have damaged hair? It’s an extremely common thing in the black community. Mothers care much more about the look rather than the health of their children’s hair.
@MiaLacheyy
@MiaLacheyy 4 жыл бұрын
Nyanza Rojas It actually is a very common believe it or not every girl that I went to school with had some messed up hair because they were just covered up with weave and I’m talking this would be in grade school this was before I even got the high school and middle school not to mention I was adopted myself and my mom didn’t even touch my hair she only threw a relaxer in it and called it a day and my hair is already fine so throwing a relaxer and it made it even more fine and I didn’t know what to do with my hair because in my previous foster home my grandmother would always do my hair every morning before I went to school and I was not allowed to put my hands in my hair and so when I was adopted I thought the same thing was going to happen but it didn’t so the hairstyle I found was to put my hair in a ponytail because my adoptive sister put her hair in a ponytail so I decided to do the same and because my hair was really fine it broke off and my edges went first and after my edges my hair was just all chopped up and uneven and then more and more relaxers and after a relaxer straightening so my hair was really damaged all because my mom did not really take care of my hair the way she should have and she still doesn’t even take care of her hair the way she still has iamb actually natural now and I’m trying to get her there but she still stuck on putting a relaxing and her hair and straightening her hair afterwards so don’t say this is a common because it very much is common

Idk sis. This seems a bit messy and race-baiting. I actually watched this video myself (before coming across your video). She seems like she genuinely wants to learn/teach her baby how to manage her hair. As long as the child, well-cared for and exposed to her culture as well as the mother’s, this alright with me. This woman is actually taking classes and all, on how to care for her Black Girl’s hair. SN: If you aren’t trying to be messy than you should change your title. All love.

To those who have spoken ill about this woman. She's not teaching us how to do natural hair. She's vlogging her journey in learning to care for her children's hair. In many of her videos she makes it very clear she's not an expert. For what I've seen, those kids are loved and well cared for. I'm trying to understand the problem. You all would dog her if she didn't learn and now you're dogging because she is invested in caring for their hair. Please make it make sense.

I’m very grateful for my mom and my family😊.Growing up they encourage me to learn about where I came from. When I was 13 my mom and I took a trip to the Philippines where I got to meet my grandparents and my cousins! I appreciate my family for everything they’ve done for me. I’m biracial, growing up when I stayed with my birthmom she kept my hair in a ponytail that was braided and I wore headbands. When I got older that was the only hairstyle I knew how to do. I was adopted by A Caucasian lady once I got into highschool, Who has a biracial son so she genuinely thought that she could do my hair also. She said that she used to be a cosmetologist, and she knows how to take care of hair and i need to switch it up. Moving in with her my hair is about a 3C curl pattern. Her combing out my hair with literally the thinnest comb, didn’t attempt to put Any form of moisture for detangling etc. etc. she eventually gave up bc my hair was “too thick to manage” she told me I’m having a lifestyle change by now attending a predominantly white school which I’ve never really attended. Saying I need to look like the other girls, straight hair. I’ve never ever got a perm and never really had my hair flatironed only at weddings and special occasions. until that day. She permed, flatironed and dyed my hair. Which I noticed almost immediately I had damage... curl pattern was at a 3a by then. After I graduated my hair was so damaged and brittle I made the decision to shave my head, yes it was a bold choice but as my hair began to grow back I took the time out of my day everyday to learn and understand my hair type. My hair is now to my shoulders and is at its healthiest.

It's been hard loving my hair but I'm trying, my mom doesn't support me going natural so yeah no support there but hey it's on my head and I want to take care of it. Ps. I really admire this lady for learning about how her daughter's hair works and how to style it cause a lot of parents don't do that. And I also like the way that you didn't scrutinize her for being a white woman caring for a black girl's hair cause I feel like the true meaning and intention of the video will go over a lot of people's heads because they'll be to busy waiting for her to mess up to call her out of to find something that she's doing wrong to point it out rather than acknowledge the fact that she's a loving mother who's trying. The fact that she puts in that effort and uses it as an opportunity to bond with her child shows nothing but pure love she has for her. She really is trying her best for a mother of a different race than her child and she's doing a great job.

I had to learn to take care of my hair the right way when I started trying to do it myself in middle school. Fast forward to now, I'd say my hair is pretty healthy, not sure what my hair type is though bc my mom says the whole 3a-4c thing isn't how they describe hair in the salon (she's a cosmetologist but as far as ik she only worked with pin straight hair in the salon )

Completely agree. There are so many babies in the system needing a home. As long as the parents can provide that child love and take the effort to help them keep in touch with their culture, it should not matter who adopts them. The people who always get mad at people adopting children of a different race never have adopted children themselves.

Her hair is in great shape and her mom kept emphasizing how important it is for these beautiful black kids to know that their hair is beautiful naturally and the process of doing it shouldn’t be seen as such a negative thing. I loved this and her message behind it. And I don’t think it’s detrimental as long as they make a constant effort to make sure the child knows about what comes with the experience of being their race, I.e. educating them on their culture, keeping them around people that look like them, etc.
