Great content as usual ! I've been shooting bows for over 30 yrs and I'm still learning from these guys! What impresses me is EVIDENCE BASED KNOWLEDGE ( Always tinkering to invent a better mouse trap) The Archery community has much to learn from Elk Shape and Podium Archery ! Thanks Guys !! Engineer and Designer vs life time of practical experience ! Both have mechanical common sense . Master Class discussion for sure! Elbow injury forced me to lower my poundage so have made the switch to IRON WILLS for maximum penetration.. On a side note all my hunting buddies shoot approx. 400 gr arrows with Fixed Blade Broadheads and pass thru on Elk and deer are the norm..
@timbow502 жыл бұрын
Informing bow hunters about the design and the reasons/ mechanics of this design is more relevant to destroying bone and tissue than 99% of hunters have ever even thought about. When you really analyze the point of the head angles and bevels it's obvious of the bone splitting capabilities. With decently weighted arrow there's no doubt of the outcome. Just my simple thoughts after bowhunting for over 60 years. 👍👍

Great information on how broadheads work and how they can be deflected on bones! Makes me definitely think about what types to use!

I am using their reinforced HIT system and love it. I am more of a mechanical broadhead guy because of the cut I get. I also get great penetration with mechanical heads. Would consider a fixed head once I do more testings.

That was good information gentlemen. After paying for three new bows in four yrs, the cost of the most important part of your weapon, the broad head, it's really not a bad price.

I like these kind of sessions between two veterans of the archery 🏹 world 🌎. Engineering and broadhead design and dynamics is pretty interesting stuff. I am thinking about going single bevel but I’m not sure 🤔 as a left eye dominate shooter if I should go with a right or left bevel and correspondingly the correct helical or offset for it. 🏹🦌
@caninphx2 жыл бұрын
why? there hasn't been any evidence presented in any video/research/etc that puts the Broadhead that much farther ahead if any measurable amount at all. not knocking it they work, I just haven't seen the science/proof that it does a lot better.

Here’s another discussion point….what about the fact the broadhead is continuing to spin as it penetrates when it comes into contact with bone/shoulder blade. Won’t that make deflection a greater issue?
@jeffgenchi58632 жыл бұрын
If money is the issue, then save a bit longer and buy the iron will. Rock solid. I love these broadheads.

Amazing content guys!! Yet still… Questions!! - On the iron will sb slowmo video you can see the arrow is leaving the humerus in an entirely different direction. If you had a premium razor sharp cut on contact steel chisel tip would it not be better? Also- I’m super curious to hear what Bill thinks about the QAD exodus somehow out penetrating almost any other three blade despite being cheaper. Is it the larger diameter ferrule of the chisel tip? Does this ‘larger chisel tip’ concept need to be tested with better materials? Is he ever going to make a premium three blade? I’m still not sold on two blade deflection vs a chisel. A three blade hitting square with one of its blades will still have two blades 120deg apart resisting the lateral movement and planing. Keep up the great work!!!

They make we nervous talking with their hands with the broad head in hand 😯
@MrFishguy602 жыл бұрын
I totally disagree, the longer 2:1 ratio or more 2 blade will maintain direction and deflect way less than short steep angled heads and or chisel points. I have learned that lesson the hard way hunting and the hard way in 3-d archery. Short steep field points will cost you some points from glance-outs, while long pointed tips will follow the shaft and maintain direction. It's all a no-brainer.

Can one of you contact/ help me. I just for life can't find that arrow build for me. I'm shooting 70 pounds, floating the thought of 75 pounds, mathews v3, 31 with a 30 inch draw. I want to run 200 to 200gr at the tip. There's very few arrows out there that can handle the spine. I know I can't be the only person out here trying to find this arrow build. Please help
@hootiesfilms6446 Жыл бұрын
I have similar specs but with a 31" draw, very low selection on arrows if you want decent foc and not a super heavy arrow. Most 250 spines seem under spined with 175 grains or more up front, I recently got some 200 spine shafts and had about 200 grains up front but I'm already at 600 grains total, I could not get these to fly well. Season is coming too soon so I switched back to the 250 spine and went down to 150 grains up front, only about 13% foc but they fly awesome.

Iron will are great. Not knocking them, but why don’t you guys ever talk about Valkyrie arrow systems. You don’t have to make the arrow heavy, they have fantastic FOC and I’ve seen them split a bull elk femur in half.

that's normal adjust the rest accordingly to get ur impacts matching or close. or do what 90% of us do and test the broadheads with field points at various ranges and realize that you need to dial an extra yard or two as you go further ou it's likely the aerodynamics of the head.
