That Providence Anchor ran the most sloppy, aggressive, and dangerous final lap of any distance race ever. Even before causing UNC and Wisconsin to go down, he was involved in a few stumbles in the final 300 yards. And after the falls, he had 2 more stumbles due to his aggressiveness.

@@ZWill07 He was supposed to follow the rules. “A competitor may cut in front of another runner, provided that the overtaking runner has one full stride.” The Providence guy cut in front of 2 runners and, judging by the way he ran into them, didn’t have a full stride on either.

Exactly. providence interferred with Villanova TWICE in the last lap alone. Then he just bulldozed his way out of the box that he put himself in. When he did that he just hammered the Wisconsin runner who lost his balance and fell taking another with him. A little elbow rubbing is ok, but this idiot just pushed people out of the way and cut in before he was allowed. I would have had some words with the judges on this one.

Think about how many people on the highway you've seen drive the way Providence dude races. All up on somebody's tail as if they more of a right to the lane than the car they're tailgating. Then they jet out into the next lane recklessly with no regards for anyone else because they're too solipsistic to know any better. This is how accidents happen...and that's what we saw on that bell lap.

Tight races in distance races can get physical but there's a certain level of sportsmanship in distance races we extend to one another and this race lacked it by a few teams. However, according to some this is the least exciting of the relay events, and people tend to go to the restroom or concessions but they have been infusing some drama into this race for a few years. I appreciated it as a fan but I don't like to see the lack of sportsmanship that went on here.

He shoved and nearly tripped others to get into that box situation. Watch at about 14:45 to 15:00 up above. He lets Texas go by him on the outside so he swings wide and nearly trips up Villanova because he wants the inside rail position behind the leader. On the last lap, he looks at his watch, realizes the tempo and starts to shove his way out of his box. I guess because he thinks the leader won't be kicking early enough for his liking? At least he got passed right at the end so he had to settle for third. It really was the third leg that caused the problem with some teams settling into a slower pace and others really gutting it out to get back into the lead pack.
