Really appreciate when you do those comparisons. I'm not a big fan of rye but it's growing on me. The Wilderness Trail Rye is amazing. I think Old Forester and Wild Turkey/Russell's serve their customers with available and affordable quality juice better than all other brands.

Nice review! Rare Breed Rye is very good! Right behind some of my Sagamore rye’s and my Very Old Saint Nick Harvest Rye! Wanting to try the Russell’s single barrel Rye soon!

Great review Jason. Saw the live steam about this the other night with Dave Jennings and that was great! Dave is a wealth of knowledge for anything Wild Turkey that’s for sure. Love Wild Turkey!Can’t wait to try this one. Sounds great! I have WT 101 rye, Pikesville and Old Forester rye. Love all three. The comparisons were great to see how Rare Breed stacks up to the rest. I just picked up a bottle of Rare Breed Rye. It was fun to taste it and then watch your video. It was definitely a pepper bomb! Haha... Good. I struggled to pin down the nose for ryes. I get more of the alcohol for ryes a lot of the time.

I love ryes and the comparison at the end was very helpful in making a decision on whether or not to try the rare breed rye. I have had most of the comparisons and have a similar palate to you so it was much appreciated.

Just found this bad boy here in Dallas and man I’m loving it, personally. After a couple of water drops it mellows out and the sweetness appears. Awesome vid! Cheers 🥃

Great review Jason - especially the comparisons. Was sipping this last evening. It's delicious but you can't call it balanced. Its balance goes when it get to the back palate just like you mention. Still, I like it. HOWEVER, at nearly the same price I will spend my money on say, a nice Willet 4 year. Talk about balanced! I'l add this: I make my wife's old fashion cocktails out of WT 101 Rye and that juice is wonderful. It could be a daily sipper (and often is). And only $25-ish.

Old Forester Rye is such a stupid good value: $24 for 1L. I am curious about the Rare Breed, but am not sure if I should reach for that or the Russell's when I decide on a new rye. The descriptions for both sound great.

The Old Forrester BNB @ about $23 is a great value without forgetting about Rittenhouse BNB which wasn't included but will probably finish at # 3 in a blind with your other Ryes. Thanks for the review.

Great Video. Like the comparisons. In drinking the various eyes, why did you not take a sip of water to clean your palate like the wine tasters..? Would you recommend this ?

Newbie here - My first real rye was a a cask strength 10yr Select Barrel Whistle Pig...."Oinky Boinky" Does that mean I am spoiled for life? So at 100% rye it was all rye and dry.. Which frankly I found I enjoyed in cocktails, e.g.great Manhattens with Punt E Mes- more then sipping straight other than always fascinated to explore it straight. My question is why are so many of these rye whiskeys only 50 to 60% rye rather than 100% rye? I am currently working to a Dickel which is much sweeter and not nearly as intensively rye despite being 100% rye. Admittedly I'm somewhat puzzled at this...🤔 However it is making a great cocktail was Nonino and vermouth

I found the Michters rye to be so light in the rye category that it just simply worked as a great bourbon in my bourbon cocktails

Yeah remember, ryes tend to be a bit more expensive. Especially good aged ones at least. But its a killer whiskey.
