I hate how he says that card counting isnt "technically cheating" as of its morally or logically cheating? Its playing the game and paying attention. In what universe can just looking and counting be considered cheating, especially when you dont use a device to do it. Which is more funny because most casinos usually let you track winning numbers at other games tables to encourage people who dont know how stastics work to bleed money. But sit down at a black jack table and suddenly knowing the history of numbers in the game is banned.

Correct. Any purely mathematical function will be 100% deterministic. There has to be an _OUTSIDE_ source of uncertainty to make the function unpredictable. The best ways (radioactive decay) are not so simple to use, esp. on the scale of millions of slots. I'm told many slots today use internal clocks timed to the millisecond - not perfectly random, but without knowledge of the function and internal clock, it's difficult to predict, and _very_ difficult (but not impossible) to hit the button at exactly the right millisecond. Of course, any modern casino will be overflowing with networked technology. Chips have RFID - basically the same sort of thing as your "tap to read" credit card.

I always turn my nose when TV shows and movies use the classic trope of “betrayal” to explain away how someone gets caught. But got dammit if everyone of these catches on some way wasn’t caused by someone in their own camp! I guess it really is other people who pose the highest risk to your getting caught 😂😂

Remember that for every hero heister caught, there may be a few every once in a while who got away with it that we haven't heard of.
