It seems that river monsters enjoy eating rats! In this episode I throw some big rats into the river and catch some truly big fish.

Who hasn't caught a 900 pound bass. Most of the ones I catch are by using 50 pound shiners and size 30 Ott circle hooks. The hardest part is casting my Penn international gold reel with 1000 pound test line further than about 2 feet. Those 1000 oz lead sinkers help a bit.

When I was a "Keeper" at a zoo, I ordered chicks (baby chickens) to feed to our raptors (eagles, owls & hawks.) They came like that, frozen solid in a plastic bag in a corrugate box. I had to take them out of the freezer the day before so that they would be thawed for the birds to eat. I did not worry. I knew that I would see them again when the owls regurgitated their "Owl Pellets!" 😉

@@kierra_mist When I saw that he went to Pet Smart? No. I stopped watching. Because I had pet rats for years. The reason I stopped was it was too painful when they Passed. Couldn't handle it anymore. That's why when my last 3 cats die, I won't get another. But speaking of...do you know I could put one of my pet rats on my bed with my cat and they wouldn't even attack it? Granted, both were raised in my Apartment, but people talk about "instinct" and all that, but they actually played together. It was Amazing to watch! So, yes I'm a little sensitive and biased. Sorry about that. PS I'm also a Fisherman, and I also throw them all back. I just love all God's Creatures. I catch spiders in a cup and let them go outside. If they're small enough? I let them stay.

As a kid in Illinois, we would fish with live mice for bass. A large weedless hook rubber banded ( those used on braces ) under a mouse. Float it on a stick to where you want him ( edge of the lilly pads ), and jerk him off. A SWIMMING MOUSE GAINED IMMEDIATE HITS! If you were lucky, the band would break so you could catch another.

And yeah as far as fish eating whatever, I’ve seen flatheads nabb all different kinds of things off the top of the water, blue’s too and largemouth bass, they’ll grab anything they think they can get in their mouth. I’ve know all three of the fore mentioned fish will grab a snake, baby ducklings, mice, rats, small turtles, birds, etc etc etc. and I’m sure a gar, about any Gar, will take whatever too. As expected, the thumbnail caught me as this showed up in my feed, followed by the 25 seconds of trepidation at the beginning. 😱😭 Fortunately, I have learned to wait before I "speak". 😂 I did enjoy this, except for the tragic amount of trash & pollution, but that's not on you. I was concerned about you eating something that lived in that environment, so I was pleased to see you release it. I thoroughly enjoyed the comments, & your replies. I read ALL of them; it was almost better than the video. 😉🤣 Love your sense of humour, because I'm Canadian, eh. 🤣🤣😆I've Liked & Subscribed, so I'll be seeing you again soon. TTFN 😁👍

Hey dude, it’s not really a group red 💐, it One species of clover blooming!! If it were flowers it would bloom more than once per year! Red Clove only blooms once per year! Good luck with “Rat fishing!” Cuz I’m 73 & only seen in 1973…large mouth bass beening fed small white mice outta a big tank @ the State board of Conservation!!

I'm really referring to all the flowers in the area, but I wanted to get the bee in the picture. Cool to know those are clover. I figured rats are something fish would encounter on a fairly regular basis so it would be worth a try.

It's common in downtown Houston. I'm right next to the center of the city (this is not an excuse, the garbage is awful, just an explanation)

What’s up with all the dead fish where you got the gar
@wildlifefishingshow
@wildlifefishingshow Ай бұрын
Not sure, I have to look into that. The water level dropped very suddenly and loads of dust started flowing downstream, creating what I believe to be a hypoxic environment in the narrow section of the bayou upstream. I need to look into why that happened.
