Lithium batteries degrade with every discharge and recharge and do lose some capacity over time but it is usally a low amount. I purchaed a tube battery pack for my Q1, it was rated 5000 mah it tested at 4860 mah , after 3 years of vigorous use its capacity is now 4500 mah so about 120 mah per year loss. Better quality batteries keep their capacity longer but all will eventually lose some. My Quest 2 capacity is only down 100 mah after 2.5 years of vigerous use.

My quest doesn’t even give 2 hours anymore. I’ve had it for 2 years and now I only get about an hour and 10 mins so i may need a power bank.

@@CaretakerOfMemesjust rely on a long USB-C to C cable while using a computer/laptop or even any brick charger as a power source (power banks are okay but they need a long ass charging time as well so you need to juggle between them) Also don't worry about what Meta says about not charging the headset with anything else other then the provided charger, they gave me a Huawei phone charger in my region of the world since USA chargers are not available here. it charges like any phone device since it uses the same tech.

@@a.thiago3842 in my testing, a USB-C to USB-C cable keeps the quest charged from a PC and wall plug and it won't turn off even while being used,but if you use a USB-C to USB-A cable the Quest 2 losses battery even when plugged in to the PC and being used.

I have a bobo vr m2 plus and it worked well for a year or so but all of a sudden when it was charging it went slower and slower and here I am now it takes around 5 hours to charge but when I got it it took 45 minutes to charge they give you time to write a good review about it then it just keeps getting slower when charging or it's just something on my end

Just buy the third party ones made for the quest they are tested for the headset and let the headset discharge slightly then kick on to recharge over and over instead of holding the headset at full charge with power constants that’s what is bad for the headset battery and heat

I got the Elite strap with battery for the quest 2 (30€) and 3d printed an adapter for the quest 3.. I run my powerbanks through the elite strap, that runs into the headset.. In this way i suppose the correct charge is being delivered to the headset.

Idk about the Quest 3 yet but the Quest 2 has very good battery's my quest and elite strap are probably 2 years old and it lasts a loooong time still

Hey, question when I ordered this PO3 power bank I have Amazon it came with a 24 month warranty and the brand name that I guess is CIYOYO is this a good battery that I bought because now I’m worried after reading the comments

The comments and reviews are the best source - if a lot of people say it sucks or they’ve had issues then best to avoid. I haven’t heard of it but I’m not an expert, I try to use Anker or EasyAcc but with the capsule power banks it’s not always possible.

100% will die slower, 1% will charge faster, the only difference is battery saturation past 80%, i would plug the power bank in at around 70% but there's really no visible difference and you'll be fine with either one

Possibly, there’s real mixed opinion on anything to do with powerbanks. I plug it in when it gets to around 80%. If in doubt then don’t use one.

I bought a Kiwi Comfort Battery Head Strap. Right away I suspected something was up: the power bank would always be 3/4's charged while the oculus battery was depleting steadily. Instructions say to leave the bank plugged in all the time and to charge only the strap/bank which then acts as pass-thru to the oculus. That should have been my second and third red flags. Leaving a battery plugged into a charger all the time is terrible. A battery CANNOT charge simultaneously discharge. So how in the world will the Oculus built-in battery ever complete a discharge cycle? How does the strap know when the oculus is at 100% and to cut-off as not to "trickle" and create a false "memory" in the oculus battery? All of these questions rattled around in my head this afternoon as I left the power bank plugged into my powered-down Oculus......and when I went back to play later in the afternoon I found that the power banks cable was melted inside of my quest 2 USB c port, destroying it completely Moral of the story, never leave a battery plugged in unattended, even if that is exactly what the manufacturer recommends

@@EatSleepVR LUCKILY the Quest was a Christmas gift purchased via Amazon. It's still within the extended Christmas return window. A replacement will be here today for both the Quest and the Kiwi headstrap. I sure hope they find a way to compensate me for this although with both devices already being replaced I am not sure what else they could do. In the end I am thankful that it was on my bench when the failure happened and not strapped to the head of my child. Anyone who has witnessed and seen video of a lipo battery failing knows what I mean

I also use the kiwi. Trick is to unplug it from the quest when powered down. Just charge the strap and plug back in after powering up. You might find if it's plugged in you will struggle to power up the quest

@@shavenmonkiee Ive played around both ways. Mine has trouble going to sleep if the pack is still plugged in. We now unplug it after use. If both the pack and the Quest battery are dead I will charge them both simultaneously. I use two power bricks who's output and waveform have been verified on my 'scope and using usb-c cables that have verified-correct wiring (MANY MANY MANY USB cables do NOT)

Do you know if the power will be enough to not turn it off while in use? Another question: How does the powerbank knows when enter in action? You can use your quest 2 with your computer but you’ll need to use a usb cable so you can’t use the powerbank at the same time. If you put the powerbank on when the headset is at 80% - an Anker powerbank with usbc is better. It doesn’t act as the main power it’s just trickle charging the headset. If you are in any doubt though then you shouldn’t use one. A great alternative is the head strap with built in powerbank - I think it’s from AMVR.

Had an Okzu 10,000 mAh power bank explode while playing VR 2 days ago. Sent us to the hospital with 2nd degree burns and almost burned down the house. Was in Pocket. Stay away from this one. Do as the video suggests and go for brand name chargers. Do your research.

I’ve been using an Anker battery with the FrankenQuest setup fine for about 2 years, with the headset using up the Anker first before automatically switching to the internal battery. Recently however it only draws from the Anker until the internal is full and then begins to completely drain the internal to depletion… leaving the Anker full and not switching over. Any ideas?

I heard that draining to 0 and charging to 100% kills the battery. Heard that 20 to 80% is the sweet spot. Also heard do not the leave it stored at 100% for long periods of time. Dunno, just what i heard....

Plug the headset in while playing heats the headset up more doesnt it? I could be wrong, ive only ever plugged it in while playing so that i could quickly finish a level or say goodbye to a friend. I dont really have air conditioning in my house at all so my house heats up a lot when its not winter. Should i really get an external battery pack despite this? (I had to request a replacement headset -with success mind you- because i let my brother use the headset. I heard its bad for the battery to stay at 0% for long periods of time and my brother had a habit of not putting the headset away until bed time so it wore down. Is it really ok for the battery to be charging while in use while also at 100%?)

Yeah it’s bad to leave these batteries fully charged or fully discharged if they are not being used for ages but most people don’t know this and luckily the batteries seem to take a bit of abuse and usually function ok. I tend to put the powerbank on at around 80% nowadays. Your way of plugging it in to finish a level is a better approach really, as long as it’s not at less than 10 as sometimes it struggles to catch up. But if you’re in any doubt then the best thing is to not use one. Thanks for your comment, I’m glad you got a replacement headset.
