We do seem to have a habit of developing technology that could destroy us and, so far, we’ve got away with it by “chance”. My feeling is that films have shown us the way AI is likely to go (or has already gone). I would counsel developing our own intelligence first. That is an inward journey, individually, which leads to what we have in common collectively - our aliveness/being. For me, this pursuit of ideas in the external world (going to Mars etc) is a natural-but-pointless extension of the human ego. When we overcome this ego, we will evolve to the next level. I’m confident this is happening and I hope to see it in this lifetime.

We should work on strengthening our own spirit and our own intelligence rather than making more dangerous technologies to do things for us.

It is so interesting to observe how an incoherent brain is intrinsically suicidal without wholly realizing it. We desperately need an OS update. Thought is not optimized to operate under this matrix.

AI is only a trick of programming. AI has been in computer games since '80s at least and the ideas about AI in movies are ridiculous. Think of AI as just the newest data processing method, most other ideas about its usage are just fictional.

These are great questions, but my concern is who could regulate these technologies? Certainly not our current government, and certainly not the monopolies that pioneer these technologies for pure monetary gain. I don't know, with how intertwined it all is, it's really hard to find a chink in this giant's armor to target our spirit into.
