Will I Buy a McLaren 720S?

The question that has already been asked a huge number of times; will I buy a McLaren 720S?
There are two parts to this, whether I would replace the 675LT Spider for it, and then whether it would make sense as a garage addition on its own. The difficulty is justifying two incredible expensive cars that are very similar; McLaren mid-engine supercars.
I'd love one down the line, but the short answer is not at this time, let's see!

The fact that it's so much more fitted to be a daily driver is amazing and just as much improved performance wise.. it'd be a shame if you didn't @shmee150 !!! Once that Ford Gt comes along and you had your fun out of it..! I'd sell that on and I'm sure with the profit off that you're able to purchase the 720 Lt.. 😉😉 Be a very smart move, the timing could be perfect 👌. Always move with the time and technology the 720 Lt would be advanced compared to Ford Gt.. Unless you're planning on keeping for a higher premium in several years down the line, just my thoughts

Enjoyed the two videos you have made on the 720S, with all the detail and features such as the loud start. I think it would be a nice car for you as it seems it would be great for road trips and its performance. But I would say no, as you said you have lots of cars coming and I am really hoping you get the GT3. Mr JWW has one ordered so I think you should wait then get the LT version to replace your 675LT Spider. Talking of which any news on the over heating issue?

@shmee150 As I am sure you are obviously aware that there have already been almost 2000 orders for the 720, and it is not limited. Your LT is obviously limited. It wouldn't make sense to replace it from a monetary point of view right now.

I did. There are videos where I drove the LT Spider, GT Street R and Vanquish on the Autobahn. The only problem was that the autobahn was simply too busy to push the cars to the limit.

I'd like to know did Mclaren increase the fuel capacity of the gas tank? Nineteen gal. means refilling about every 200 - 250 miles. Twenty-five gal. would seem to be just about correct.

A lovely vehicle and I'm sure you could get one but there's not point since you have the LT and it sounds to me like the LT is more enjoyable to you. You have vehicles that can be quiet and smooth, the LT is so raw and awesome. Maybe you could consider buying this new gen when they release something similar to the old LT. 755LT does sound nice to say don't it? 😉 Can't wait for all the cars arriving to the garage soon, thanks for all the lovely videos!

The aventador sv will be the flagship for my garage. And along side of the Lamborghini huracan performente. But between the 720s or 675 LT hard choose???

Wow what a car I love the exhaust!!!!!! This is why Mclaren ranks second for me. They make great road cars better than ferrari in my opinion. Shmee follow what you feel in your heart about the mclaren 720s and just like you did with your other cars. So far all the cars you have in your garage are great chooses. And how the mclaren 675LT Spyder is the flagship in your garage. But follow your heart I know you can make a great decision when it's the right time to buy the mclaren 720s or not. Id love to see this in your garage Tim! But i dont know where it will fit currently. Most logical would be as replacement for the 675LT, maybe a little less special and more allround, but if you insist on keeping the LT for its hardcore driving i dont know. The FF is your people carrier so it has to stay. The GT8 is such personalised and different that it also cant leave. Wait! You should replace the mini with the 720S! you can do your city driving in the focus! Yeah problem solved! Ditch the mini and get yourself a second McLaren man! :-)

Glad you reminded everyone it's a 650s replacement and did not compare it to 675lt. Looking at it like this it looks like a really positive progression for McLaren. Just hope they will let owners enjoy it before trumping it too soon. For the record I think it looks amazing from the angles iv seen in all the different videos.

Shmee150, could you please look into fixing that sound rattle each time the car vibrates, its super annoying to listen to. But otherwise great sound, but those bloody rattles and vibrates sounds is so frustrating... Anyway great videos, but just couldn't hold in the frustrations of those rattles/vibrations anymore as they annoyed me in the last what 10-15 videos.

Definitely buy it if you can afford. That's the most beautiful supercar for ca 200k gbp right now and for sure one of the most advanced. I'd buy it if I were you. I'd definitely love to see your review from a long trip around Europe in 720s :)

Tim, I wish I the resources to fund any of your cars because they are all fabulous in their own right, However if I did have the resources I would wait,not for an upcoming LT (should there be one) but for the ultimate, the new F1, in 2 years time. It is going to carry a hefty price tag, yes, as did the original, but that ,it seems has tripled in value, so what an investment it could be and besides F1 is a lot less long winded to say than 675LT or 745/750 LT. just a thought

And it is set on the highest quality setting? It has nothing to do with the cameras. The video is uploaded in 25 fps, because KZbin still has the 50 fps issue. They have not fixed it yet, so I cannot go back to 50 fps.

I agree you should keep the 675LT for a while longer. It's still a worthy flagship in your garage. Mr. JWW has a 720S coming in July, so perhaps wait it out and get the next Super Series LT to replace the 675.

after watching several video I noticed the instrument cluster points slightly downwards towards the steering wheel rather than towards driver. looks really unfinished and McLaren should attend to it. I can understand that light and reflection maybe the reason so a cover should be added and able to hide wihen the cluster is on race mode...or tilted in sleep

This is the best car for you and the worst car to buy. Since its awesome and has so much storage space it is perfect, but just doesn't make sense for you to buy. Gonna be a big depreciation hit and the LT version will be much better. I'd keep your LT for now and once the LT version comes out for this get that.

Get the 745 LT which I'm guessing it will go on the lines as the 650s to the 675 LT, so basically the LT version if it comes by!

It certainly would make sense to have one at some point and save some serious money due to its overall capabilities, instead of having 2 or 3 different cars for different purposes. A supercar faster than the LT, practical and spacious cruiser/GT and it attracts the attention so the sense of occasion is there. You could get rid of the FF and the Vanquish and get one temporarily and later get a GTC4 Lusso or a 812 Superfast for the V12 cravings.
