That’s the tire machine I was working to pay for my 1972 Ranchero. Started working at 14 and saved every pay check at 2.25 an hour. Paid 1800 for the 72 Ranchero in 1976. 20 years later working for a tow company I learned my Ranchero was submerged in the ocean at high tied. Oh well. It was long gone by then.

This brought back some of the earliest memories in my life. My dad had one of these that was tan colored until I was around 8 years old. Even crazier is he had an Elite that was exactly like yours until he deleted the white vinyl top. The Ranchero was totaled in a horrendous accident, the transmission went out of the Elite and as a 6 year old I broke all the windows out of it. 😢

I hope someone steps on his neck for lying like he is about that car. it was here at my shop over 10 years ago for an estimate and when it was brought here on a roll back the floor pan was full of water. It was a girl I believe by the name of Terry that brought it here on behalf of her father and boyfriend. The thing is all cancered out including the bed. I guess this dude has no shame scamming ppl... Just look at those rear wheel arches a body shop can't fix that without new panels or in this case the bed is also all rotted out underneath and if there is no water in the floors now that means the floors R gone too now. Moss just doesn't start growing on seats unless a huge amount of water and moisture is present. In this case this guy seems to be trolling 4 suckers to buy that thing at some astronomical price. Running an honest business myself I hate to see people using You Tube to do stuff like that. I mean I am body guy and I know even from this video what I am looking at but other may not. It is criminal.

The melted potting under the Duraspark box may have been remnants of a failed earlier one - it’s REALLY hard to clean that crap up (the box overheats, the potting melts, and then solidifies on the body after it cools back off). The box that is installed is probably at least the second one. I have a 77 Continental with the same spillage underneath the box it had in it when I bought the car. If you pop it off, I’m pretty sure you’ll find the potting underneath is still there and in good shape. But it never hurts to keep a replacement in the glovebox… they aren’t that expensive, and are identified by the color of the strain relief plastic (or “grommet”) where the wires go into the box. That one is probably a blue grommet duraspark I would guess, that was the most common outside of California.

I used the same type of tire machine at the service station I worked at in high school. I just held my hand on the pry bar and if it started to creep up then I would let off the pedal and readjust. Sometimes I’d use a separate pry bar or I would just lean on the pry bar of the machine and help push it through the tough spot. I never had it pop so hard that it hit me when I put my weight into it. I was like 165 lbs at that time.

Used a similar style in the 90s when I was 16. Can't recall ever having an issue with the bar popping off unless I was in too much of a hurry and didn't get it seated all the way down. If it did pop, its not like your face is ever really anywhere close. He actually probably made it much more likely to get hit by bending down hiding behind the tire. I was 100% more likely to hit myself in the face spinning the bar on my palm to reverse the ends so I could smack the wheel retaining nut off

A gallon of Coleman lantern fuel dumped in the tank of a vehicle that had been setting for a long time is how my mentor taught me on reviving an old ride. Any old fuels will get an octane boost or it will act as premium fuel otherwise. Same with a lawnmower that has been sitting around it helps break varnish in carburator or fuel injection.

Man I wish I had that tire machine. I broke down and remounted 8 tires yesterday with a handy man jack, 2 one way lug wrenches and a shop hammer. I worked my butt off
