1 theory I have for you is maybe Mimir is Odin in disguise 🥸 they both are missing a eye aswell. But just like Zeus being the grave digger maybe Odin sacrificed himself in order to be on Kratos hip and learn as much as he can being obsessed with knowledge...and honestly if you play the game over again and pretend Mimir is Odin I've noticed a lot of odd moments in dialogue that seem like some epic foreshadowing for later. Also there is no reason to fight him unless he decides to go up against Asgard for some reasons, but Kratos lately doesn't seem thrilled to repeat history and destroy another pantheon.

Fan Theory: what if Kratos gains Gungnir -- Odin's Spear -- in order to fight Thor. It makes sense that a Spartan would prefer it to a hammer. If Odin "always has his reasons," he could be pulling the strings in order to orchestrate an outcome at the end of Ragnarok that pleases him.

In the real Norse myth, someone doesn't have to be worthy to lift mjolnir, you only have to be super strong to wield it. And as we saw in gow 2018 a giant stole mjolnir from thor and we know Kratos is much much stronger than any giant so who knows maybe he will take mjolnir.

The Hammer just isn't necessarily bound to Thor and if you steal it like Thrym did in the old Edda it seems to be wieldeable by whoever stole it or wields it. If you hold it and throw it at someone it will always hit and always return to you. You probably cant recall it when someone else wields it. One of the important things to understand about norse mythology is that there is no canon. There are two foundational texts (old edda and snorra edda) we know of both written by Christian Monks after the Tales that where passed down orrally. Norse Mythology was a oral tradition that probably had different story's all over northern europe. There was no Central Authority like the Catholic Church that ordained what parts of bible are canon and which aren't. In Norse Mythology whatever Story was relevant to your people are canon to your people. And the Oral tradition has died out for a long while. So we do not know the intricacies of all the versions of the story's of the Norse Gods. All evidence we have left are the two eddas and various rune markings with different ways to write the names of the same gods. And this makes God of War just as Canon as the Eddas. Because it is the story of the norse Gods in a way someone thought it relevant to be told.

At 6:53... I never realized until looking at the Leviathan Axe and Mjolner side-by-side well considering what you said about Thor splitting time in three. that the runic pattern on the hammer seems to deviate into three distinct directions. Also the Leviathan axe has deviating branches but moves very linear from a beginning to an end. Also I think moljner will be usable because it obviously has slots for those Gem upgrades.

I've been waiting for this video! Mjolnir definitely has the potential to be the most fun and powerful weapon in any of the God of War games to date. But I feel like there wont just be 1 boss fight with Thor, I think there will be multiple Thor boss fights like how there were with Baldur in the last game. In doing this I think it'll give the player interactions with Mjolnir before we actually can wield it, and then maybe around 80% of the story we kill Thor and then have time to use Mjolnir for the rest of the game to level it up and possibly fight Odin in the final boss fight.

I believe Leviathan and Mjonir will emerge, since the mechanics are kinda similar. However, I do think we will fight Thor 2 or 3 times like we did with Zues and Baldur. There maybe possiblity that we fight Thor early and Thor might beat us or maybe he will run away. Then we fight him again later. I have a theory based on Odin's ravens that we kill during the game. So my theory is that Odin has already transcended into the higher place of existence bcoz the Odin's ravens in god of war are like athena, like they are made out of emerald which may signify that odin are from the higher plane of existence. Also this might make sense as Odin and athena are the gods of wisdom in their respective pantheons.

We’re definitely going to acquire something for going back in time lol. Big story missions like that always give us something to return back to mainland with lol 🔥 Side note- I think at the end of ragnorok, when trying to kill Oden, he will attempt to flee the realm in order to save himself. We will jump from the edge of the world tree to follow him and then after some cool realm travel, be spat out into Egypt or something. Maybe Oden kills Atreus during ragnorok, so the goal of the next game is to track down Oden for revenge. Maybe Oden has befriended the other pantheons so we have to kill all of the gods we come across who are trying to help him. Or he could have brainwashed them into believing that Kratos is the destroyer of worlds and is on a mission to wipe out all gods from existence everywhere! Lol And now Kratos actually has to do it in defence of himself and in pursuit of Oden. Hey Kaptain Kuba, do you think maybe Atreus could be the actual final boss of the new game? Because given that Loki does cause the deaths of many of the Norse gods, where Kratos killed all the Greek gods, he might have to fight Atreus if he fully accepted his role as the Loki we all know from the mythology, as Kratos did try to avoid the Aesir, while Atreus fully views them as villains. That and Loki DOES die in the Norse Mythology, so maybe somehow they’ll have to add that to stick to the lore.

If Kratos and Thor do end up swapping weapons, I imagine it happens with both of them locked in a bloody fist fight, then them trying to recall their own weapons but they end up calling each other's weapon. After calling each other's weapons, they charge at each other, ready to kill but the weapons end up clashing and launching them both to wherever.

I have a thought that stuck with me for a while after listening to the forging of the leviathan story. When thors hammer was created, the handle was made shorter due to interference while it was being made. Kinda like an accidental flaw in the design. When they're making leviathan, brok is bitten by the spider and drops dead. This leads to the whole lake of souls incident. I've always wondered if there is some fatal flaw in the axes construction, more than just a shortened handle.

To be fair, we don't know if Mjolnir can be called back like the leviathan axe, having never seen it, nor heard of it happening. We just know it's crazy heavy. And that the Leviathan axe isn't (since Sindri can lift it with a back lifting technique). So, it stands to reason that mechanically, it COULD be implemented as a slow, heavy damage weapon that deals lightning damage. Like, it could have large, Smashy, area attacks that deal a good amount of damage, but are slow and not super fluid.

I think you´re going to be surprised at how heavy the hammer actually is. Just because someone is strong enough to move it like trym, doesn´t mean they´re capable of wielding it like Thor. I believe Sindri and Brok will make equpiment that will help Kratos in handeling Mjolnir. I also think it´s wrong to assume that Thor would have to die for Kratos to take use of the hammer. Kratos may aquire the hammer in a battle (or something) during the middle of the story, but have it return to Thor at the end, and you will once again regain posession of Mjolnir after killing Thor, for then to be able to use it after the main story. I wrote this before your second theory btw.

I think not. In mythology, Thor needs 2 gauntlets and a Belt to wield Mjolnir. While yes, Kratos is the physical embodiment of strength, but I do not think that’s enough to be able to wield it. Maybe in a cutscene, maybe, but 2 weapons are enough. But what I DO want to see is Freyr’s sword. The sword which can fight for it’s own, and give it to Atreus.

i have a theory about how Kratos could get mjolnir in the game, and it could be reliable : First, we know that Thor with mjolnir can demonstrate extraordinary strenght, proof when he hit Jormungandr so hard that he tre< him into the past. So what if during the battle between Kratos and Thor, thor destroys kratos's Axe into pieces ( while Kratos tried to block his Mjolnir attack with the axe, or while protecting atreus with it ) This event could take place by the middle or near the end of the game, Kratos will lose the leviathan axe, and when he beats thor, he will need his weapon so he could continue his journey to the ragnarok. By the end of the game, Sidri and broke could repare the axe for Kratos in honor of faye, and give it back to him, and maybe it will be the time when he will pass it to atreus, or maybe the axe will still be broken in pieces forever because it will be the end of the north saga !

One idea I did have about Kratos to use Thors hammer is that each weapon Kratos has from the 2018 game is related to 1 of the 4 oringinal/main elements. For example, the Leviathan axe is ice element/power, Blades of Chaos are fire related, and fists, shield, and rage mode represent the earth element due to some of the attacks you can do and so on. Meaning that taking all of the above into consideration, what element from the original 4 is left, Air/Lightning or in other words, Thors hammer meaning it would make sense for Kratos to use Thors hammer because it would then mean Kratos can use the 4 elements. I could be very much wrong with this but it make sense in some way, shape, or form

I have a theory (try to follow lol) With time travel being confirmed a thing, I feel like the final boss will be Loki but ADULT Loki, as said jormungandr is sent back in time, as if the aesir gods won in that timeline so what if Odin “somehow” did the same thing in kept/brought the Atreus of that timeline making him the aesir god “his son” Loki known in the mythology in Asgard knowing from seeing the mural that he is the key to Ragnarok therefore keeping him in Asgard (which is why realm travel is locked) Side note: mimir may or may not know of this twist as I don’t believe he has made the connection that Atreus is Loki due to him not being in jotunhiem. And him being back at home while Atreus is being an angsty teen in the woods of the trailer “find out who loki is” Then as a big reveal Odin brings adult Loki (fully in tune with his godhood) to fight Kratos in an amazing final boss fight after Thor is killed as a last attempt to avoid his death knowing that kratos wont be able to kill his own son, and if he does… couldn’t that be what turned Atreus against kratos killing him as we see in the mural & turning him into Loki in the first timeline? Odin still lives… The cycle of Ragnarok continues. Post credits scene: we see ‘HPE’ Athena banish kratos to another pantheon as we know the gods cursed him to never die and make him suffer through the pain of the Norse saga as well

1. Mjolnir is needed during Ragnarok in Thor's fight against the serpent. 2. The returning mechanic of the Leviathan axe is shared with that of Mjolnir, which would feel repetitive. It would also create a challenge in terms of mechanics since Mjolnir is very short and would lack range that facilitates the God of War style gameplay. It may suit Thor who wouldn't be "dancing" with the weapon, so to speak, but just doing intermittent bashing and magical maneuvers that does not require range. So, it would not look bad on Thor but it would on Kratos.

I think we will fight thor in the beginning just like how bolder showed up in the previous game and forcefully take his hammer and almost kill him but kratos lets him go free, he will return in the middle part for revenge and will die. Odin then will also want revenge for the death of his son and we will fight him with the remaining gods in the finale. Thats my theory

I personally think that we're actually going to have two fights with Thor. The one in the beginning where we fight and incapacitate him in the beginning and take his hammer. And throughout the game we hear of him getting a newer and stronger weapon than mjolnir, and at the end of the game we'll have to use all three of our weapons to take down Thor with his new WMD.

Controversial Mjolnir theory: Mjolnir will be inconsequential. It would provide no real additional power to Kratos. Hear me out. Thor's hammer as well as the Leviathan axe are channeling weapons. Historically the hammer had no other attributes besides being intensly heavy (requiring the girdle and the gauntlet). All the lighting stuff was Thor himself (there is the idea of his resurrecting goats, but I think that might have been Thor himself or the goats specifically). There is evidence for this in the game as well as in historical context. Historical: Thor was still a "thunder" god before he got the hammer. His domain stayed as it was after he was given the hammer. In the game: His children, Modi has the ability to summon lighting and channel it through his mace, meaning that the lighting is something that the person has and not the item. Magni is able to summon fog, meaning their powers are personal, not item based. The post credit scene also illustrates that it is thor himself not the hammer that has the great power. When thor unveils Mjolnir the lighting that is arcing isn't starting at the hammer and spreading out, instead it is just over his body, meaning that the source of the lightning is just him. The hammer just happens to be there. With each of the weapons being channeling items, thors hammer would be useless in the hands of kratos since all of kratos abilities are internal or attached to his weapons (frost for the axe and fire for the blades of chaos). His only channeled ability is the spartan rage which is bare handed. Beyond the ability to return to his hand (base version from beginning of the game) the axe is essentially just an axe that seems to exude cold. So he uses it as such. Same thing would happen with Thors hammer, he would use it simply as a hammer. (Though the design would fit with a shield since Mjolnir is a one handed war hammer.) If anything, I believe the Hammer would be taken like a resource and used as currency for something, maybe to give to Jormangunder in return for something. Side theory, is it possible that faye being a frost giant (technically) had the ability to use Cold magic, and that's why Brok and Sindri gave the Axe the ability to use that specific element. Could Hodr use the axe since his abilities are night, winter, cold, and darkness?

In my opinion, I think they should make it so Kratos is about to lose to Thor in the final boss fight but then become worthy and kill him with his own hammer (sort of like in Avengers: Endgame.) I think this would be the best way to do it, and give Kratos Mjolnir for post-game and new game plus. This is just a thought though. Otherwise I think the time travel idea works pretty well too.

In the original mythology Thor actually had another weapon he could use. And only really used it when Mjolnir was not available. It was a staff called Grídarvölr that was given to him by Gríðr who was one of Odin's consorts. And in some other tales Thor's ability to lift Mjolnir came from his gloves called Járngreipr. So maybe in the beginning kratos will manage to take the hammer and when he tries to take it back he uses this staff?

I have multiple theories which are similar Theory 1: Kratos will probably find a prototype of mjolnir in swartalfheim(or travel back in time to get it) and as we upgrade it, it becomes more like thor's current one. Once we beat him, we get the fully upgraded mjolnir Theory 2: Kratos will fight thor mid game and manage to take mjolnir from thor and we travel back or forward in time so thor cannot get it back ig and at the end, we might fight thor with a stronger mjolnir which we can get by defeating him and upgrading it to that one(most unlikely).

I am pretty sure in the myths the giant mentioned at 2:32 asked for Freya's hand in marriage in exchange and the gods agreed.. Loki came up with a crazy idea and dressed Thor up in a dress and convinced the giant that he was Freya there to marry him. They didn't even get suspicious when 'Freya' had eaten like 3 whole cows, and drank a few entire kegs of beer.. The giant gave 'Freya' the hammer to give to Loki and when Thor got his hands on the hammer he revealed himself and killed the giant and everyone involved

I think the reason Thor was teased so heavily after the first game is because there was originally going to be a trilogy of Norse games. Thor might have originally been intended to be the finale of the second game, however now that they are wrapping it up in two instead of three… Thor may be the finale of the first act, most likely dying in the middle of the game.

At the very least, I think that Mjolnir should be a NG+ item, where fans can enjoy it, after they beat the game the first time. One method I felt that Santa Monica could use, is that if Atreus was to be able to fully utilize his trickster side, he could potentially create a method to get the hammer away from Thor, thus allowing himself or Kratos to utilize it. I namely would say that Kratos should use it, since this could create an opportunity for Atreus to be given the Leviathan Axe during this time.

As much as it will be awesome to have Mjolnir as a weapon I feel like it might play too similar to the Leviathan Axe expect shorter reach and electric powers instead of Ice. Maybe we get it as a weapon for post game and then in the sequel to ragnarok. I really do want more weapons tho but I’m not sure how many more we are going, there’s plenty of great Norse weapons they can get, maybe even somehow recover Magni’s sword. With the game mechanics having ice damage build up and fire damage build up I feel they might go that route and and weapons he gets will have an element attached to it. Then we can also get more elements for Ateris’s arrows

What people don't seem to realise is that Loki will also die at the end of Ragnarok. Might be that Kratos will experience another crushing loss, leading to him going all "Asgard will fall", and Odin will be like "Asgard will prevail" and "The Cycle Ends Here", and then Baldur appears in his green glowy spirit form and asks Kratos for his power, and Kratos stabs himself with the Leviathan Axe.

Another possibility would be, that Thor would destroy the axe sometime during the fight to mock Kratos and the fact, that the axe would rival Mjölnir. Kratos, now in Spartan Rage Overdrive, slowly overpowers Thor in a fit of Rage, nearly killing him. But just in time, Atreus steps in and manages to calm down and prevent Kratos from killing Thor. Humiliated, Thor escapes and we take Mjölnir for our own.

Chaos blades for fire damage, frost axe for frost damage, fists for stun damage, and mjolnir for shock damage. Maybe Kratos will encounter an enemy that requires mjolnirs shock damage to defeat. Edit:OH OH OH. I have another idea. What if Kratos gets a hold of mjolnir, and the dwarves can infuse the frost axe with its power... somehow. And then thor would either have to get a new weapon, or fight with just his powers. It's unlikely, but I think it's a cool idea.

what is interesting about the god of war (2018) is that unlike god of war 3 the weapons that is aquired by kratos doesnt pop out of no where, he holds the axe and the blades on his back and the shield has its own mechanics. Saying all this whatever weapons kratos aquires he has to physically hold it somehow and he could actually get mjolnir in a practical sense as it is hung by the waist. Thing is: after Ragnarök the norse mythology story is done. It wouldn't make much sense to have the biggest player of that story (Odin) escape from this. Thor may the greatest enforcer Odin has left but Odin should still be the end goal, regardless of whether we'll get Mjölnir or not. Odin is the one who orchestrated everything that's happened so far in the Norse saga. He sent Baldur after us and caused the first game's events. It would not be remotely satisfying, if he managed to slip through our fingers at the end of all this.

Here’s my theory I don’t think Kratos will ever get any of the god weapons but I’m thinking he’ll ask the dwarves to make him a powerful weapon because no offense after playing two of the god of war games the only weapon that was ever truly his were the blades of chaos and even then he hated them I think it would be nice to have a weapon of his own something that never belong to him I mean the blades of chaos we belong to Aries so I believe Hill as the dwarves to make him a brand new weapon something he never used before
