Direct sales are great until we need a recall performed or service outside of our own capabilities. A service network of some sort is necessary for proper customer support & satisfaction. I won't argue that the dealerships have been awful at this, not all, but many simply greedy and thus lack the ability to put the customer's satisfaction first and foremost. They are spending too much time digging into their pockets. The Manufacturers have a way of putting local dealerships in the middle. I saw this first hand has a Factory trained Ford technician and in many cases I was put in very difficult situations wanting to simply get paid for the work I was performing and being squeezed by the service department in turn who was being pressured by the manufacturer & their own upper level management. Let's just say that I am happy to be long gone from that work place. I left in 2013. As a consumer, I want to see local service & parts departments available in case I need them. We all do, no? Warranties require them. Else, we suffer waiting and wanting some sort of service from a reputable factory rep. IDK what the future holds, but I'm sure not worried about a new car warranty these days as I simply can't afford a new one. So I drive two makes that I can service myself for the most part. Not everyone has a technician background and/or the tools and equipment to do that. Dealerships do need much improvement, but the automakers need to come back down to earth as they have also lost their way.

It's absolutely a good thing, car dealers SUCK! Nobody enjoys going to a car dealer and playing their little games with back and forth prices and all the other BS that comes with it.

Dealers are scum , some resisting the obligation of warranty repairs.

Will VW dealers want to serve them? Why should they? EVs are loaded with proprietary software and hardware. Independent repair facilities will not be inclined if at all capable. As a former Ford technician, I can testify that consumers suffer when there are no factory backed technicians available locally. When I purchased my motorcycle I was torn between Indian and Harley, personally I chose Harley because of the huge dealership network. Indian can't compete when it comes to dealership presence nationwide. I think the same goes for the auto industry. Tesla customers suffer when they need service. The same will apply for any manufacturer not offering local dealer support and services.

If the EU didn't punish VW and other European brands economically then they could also produce cars at a more reasonable price and higher quality. The EU is killing its own car industry. Germany is extremely dependent on income from the car industry. If the German economy goes down it affects the entire EU. This is what happens when politicians interfere with the free market

I don’t want a Scout, but if this gets the ball rolling toward on line sales, great! 👍🏻

With no dealer where does someone go to look at the various models and to test drive?
@victorl225Ай бұрын
If they use the Tesla model. Tesla has showrooms, you can see the models, schedule test drives, etc.

Never even heard of them. Plus, I try my hardest never to buy anything Chinese. I research before I buy. Unfortunately, the US automakers are in bed with this global UN economy that must stop.

Scout is an iconic American car manufacturer that ended production in the 80s I think. VW bought the rights and is developing a U.S. based design and engineering program. These won't release until 2027 ish. Lots of people are looking forward to these.

With no dealer where does someone go for warranty work? Not regular maintenance, e.g. oil change, spark plugs, tires ect... Have read that Tesla warranty work takes months to get scheduled.

Dealerships are a franchise. Ford even has separate quick lane companies. It's not hard to imagine a franchise garage
@dbmn7571Ай бұрын
@@RipliWitani Well that's not what the manufacturers are doing as was discussed in the video and neither is Tesla. The manufacturers are selling direct to the public and bypassing the dealer. I would expect someone answering my question would know the answer based on knowing something not speculating which is what you did.

Jeez some of these comments. Why do people want others to fail? Whats wrong with you people? Why the hate? This a U.S. based design, engineering, and manufacturing program made for the U.S. market. They're being built in South Carolina. Good lord.

Volkswagen and Off-road do not belong in the same sentence, this will be about as popular as an off-road vehicle as the Subaru Brat. Good luck but this market is already over saturated.
