Jaguar screwed up decades ago when it became a luxury brand with sporting pretensions instead of remaining a sporting brand with a veneer of luxury. Porsche keeps getting it right through multiple generations of the 911, which remains an icon among serious sports car enthusiasts even as it adds luxury touches to appeal to a broader market. The worst part is that Jaguar's management clearly has no idea what they are doing wrong, let alone knowing how to fix it.

This reminds of the infamous "new" Coke" years ago that Coca Cola came out with that consumers didn't like, so they brought back the old Coke and labeled it "Classic". However, this "new" Jaguar, the ad direction and the car, are so strange, so bizarre, I doubt they will survive, huge amounts of money down the rat hole. The dust bin of history is littered with companies that failed to appreciate their own history and alienated their customer base. Were they snorting "Coke" around the boardroom table when they decided on their new direction? I'll be keeping my '15 XK. RIP Jaguar.

To get rid of your old customers, for completely new ones, with untested vehicles; in a questionable market, sounds insane. Thankfully Honda is still producing N/A V6 engines in their midsized vehicles (Pilot, Passport, and Ridgeline) and hopefully they get their act together, that's plagued these past few years with the recalls, and go back to being the top two to three in reliability again. I've been eyeing the Ridgeline and Passport, compared to my 2012 Honda CRV.

The Tata Group has been burning billions on different businesses and strategies - an airline that is in a hyper-competitive market, a steel company that is losing money in the UK and other markets, and now this. For a car brand that has a horrible record of reliability, sparse dealer network and no meaningful product, they should have focused first on addressing those issues - instead, they invested $ 5 Billion in a battery plant in the UK, and then announced an all-EV strategy - and where is it going to get customers for the new Jaguar and that too at a price point of $250k? People dropping in from another planet? Its largest market was China, and the Chinese are leading the world in EV technology and at scale. The word Stupidity has to be capitalized and in bold and sent to the bosses in India.

Jag may as well save time and file for bankruptcy now. This is a train wreck in motion. Going for a small number of very wealthy people with ugly EVs few want is a recipe for failure. They should've done what other luxury brands are doing, a mix of EV, hybrid and gas engine vehicles to attract a wider base of buyers. They are not Rolls and I'd bet will not attract many if any Rolls buyers as it seems they want imo. We'll see.

I’m a Jaguar aficionado and three time owner, from an XKE, thru an XJ6 to my present XK8. I’m an affluent Professional white straight man. The new Jaguar Telly Tubby’s ad appears to be aimed at my polar opposite, an unhappy, gay, trans, androgynous Sub-Saharan person. I am completely repulsed by the new cars. I will have to look into Aston Martins if I want a new beautiful British car.

There's a phrase for that, go woke, go broke The problem is these companies market to a tiny segment of the population while turning their back on the largest segment. They're essentially alienating their current customers in a futile attempt to reach a new one, which doesn't actually exist. We've seen this in so many different industry and companies. Established brands and media franchises getting woke, and losing money when their pivot/bet don't play out how they thought it would.

Their biggest competitor will be Cadillac who is already making electric cars just like this. Only Cadillac is way ahead, and has a lot of other cars to fall back on. If it were shiny black, I think the car would look really cool. But I would rather a luxury SUV because I hate sitting in cars that low. If all fails, sell the brand to Geely.

I think they’re making a big mistake - Jaguar should stick to the nostalgic cars while offering newer, innovative cars at the same time. I know to do that would require a lot of money to manufacture all those cars with different production lines, but I think they risk losing a lot more money going away from their core brand and customers.

PS- We just bought a 25 S-CAM 3.0T Limited to add to our fleet. It has the 540hp twin huffer six. But only JD is driving it. Very long bed,extremely ugly. We prefer the F350 SD Navistar. JD is driving the new RAM from NY to Texas to show us. Then, he will make a run to Cali to be sure that our loads are getting out. Then he will drive to Arizona and stay there until late spring. He intends to drive the ever living snot out of it. And if ANYONE can burn a ZF8 transmission or blow the engine. It's either JD, or Jim.
