It amazes me how some products are cheaper today than when they first came out. The microwave was $490. In today's dollars, that would be $1,598.45. You can get one for $100.

I know, right? I try to put myself in "'80s mode" when I watch these older TPIRs and I still either way overshoot it (like I guessed $350 for the bicycles in the items up for bid) or way undershoot it (I guessed $340 for the microwave)

Around 1973, my brother bought a Texas Instruments pocket calculator for about $55. That was quite a bit of money, considering he was making about $2.75 an hour at his part-time after-school job. You can buy a similar pocket calculator today at Staples for about $10 or $15.
