People think this was a big job. lol Body swap, frame swap, sunroof install, interior swap, complete custom repaint, and when it was finally finished...... engine swap. @@jhill7889 I gave up the bodywork and then the paint work. I did do the paint/bodywork on a Grand Am in one of my videos to remind myself why I don't like it. As you get old, you realize your time is better spent doing things you enjoy. Plus I can afford to pay people now. lol Hopefully the next one will be a little less involved but I can handle it even if it is another basket case.

Dude I been watching a lot of rebuild video's lately, not going to name them here as this is not the place, but I have to say without reservation there are some good work being done and some real hacks doing such shotty work it's laughable and I really have to say you do, by far, the best more complete work of them all and you really deserve the million views those other guys are getting. I would without hesitation but a vehicle you rebuilt as I know it is done correctly and with proper attention to the details. I hope your channel blows up and you get the several million subs and millions of views you deserve. I hope your body and paint guys are as good and thorough as you are. I can't wait to see this after paint.

Thanks, this is a hobby for me. As much fun as making videos is, I am not ready to give up my full time job and go all in on KZbin as my career like others have. I just make videos I think people might want to see or what people have asked to see. I guess what I am getting at is I am not you typical KZbinr (I never thought I would have to call myself that lol), which I think is where the differences come in. I could buy and build a super car for youtube and get tons of views and subs but I don't know if there is a market to sell it and I don't need one myself. I would rather fix the ordinary cars and share my knowledge with you guys incase you want to try it yourselves and I know I can sell those cars easily. Thanks for the support!

You put together great video's but it is your workmanship and attention to the smallest details that separate you from the rest. The cut corners, the shotty work or fitment, shitty welding is all over but you seem to do it right, you seem more like you want a reputation more than youtube views and now a days that is rare. I am old and back before internet and youtube we build our reputation on quality and hard work and this is what comes through in your videos. It is like you are doing it and would change nothing if the camera was not present as it is your legacy or reputation you working on. Keep up the great video's and we will keep watching

I'm still working on the video skills. This was the first project I have filmed in real time. The camera angles were probably the hardest. I would spend hours trying to set up for shots only to have minutes of footage and half unusable because I got in the way of the work. I have gotten more efficient at that. The volume levels annoyed me on other videos so I so spend as much time tweaking them as I do editing. I used to just speed things up to save time but have learned that jumping from key point to point conveys the same idea in less time and is more satisfying to watch. It is all learning and hopefully they are getting better as I go. Thanks for watching!

Bro you have patience to work on the electronics of these new vehicles. I'm amazed the amount of modules to run the truck. I'm rewatching your vids learning how to work on the electronics. I'm already considering doing this exact same project using three trucks to build one. I want to learn all I can about all of the electronics involved in running all of these vehicles. Please don't stop with these vids. I wish you could have a series dedicated in detail about diagnosing and fixing electronic issues, because this is what plagues all of these nee cars and trucks. I started as a mechanic when computer controls first started being used. I have been working on them ever since so as they get more complicated, I just learn more. Jumping in now after vehicles have had a 30+ year head start can be a little overwhelming, I bet. I may start to add some diagnostic stuff to my channel, maybe some little DIY projects as well. I learned more as a kid hanging out in a shop than I ever could learn in a school, so I get where you are coming from. The videos are kind of like being there looking over my shoulder. I try to answer the questions I think people might ask, the ones I would have asked if I were watching. Thanks for watching.

I love your pragmatic approach! I've run into many GM Techs that swear they are right, or that something can't be done only to find out they were wrong. Might be true with other car brands also, but I only purchase GM products.

It is not just GM, I can tell you that from experience. I just had a Mazda that the dealer charged the customer $2000 in repairs and then told them it needed a harness and it was no longer available so the car could not be repaired. The actual problem: The timing belt jumped a tooth and would not run. Changed the timing belt and it was good to go. Luckily it was not off enough to bend a valve. Thanks for watching

This was great series of videos. I have that exact truck, had a front hit and they opted to cut in a new front frame section the insurance co. would not total the truck due to low miles (36K) and was deemed to be excellent shape. I wanted them to total it. They ended up spending $38,000.00 on it. I have looked it all over in detail and 1 year later no issues. I was skeptical of the new frame section and possible electrical gremlins, but have to say they did a very nice job on it. Thanks for posting this, it has given me clear direction on a few minor repairs. Great work !

Nice work, cant count how many times i’ve gotten cars from other shops full of new parts, with a wiring problem like this one had. Deleting emissions and using tuners are the second most likely cause of engine problems, after poor maintenance. The newer the Diesel is, the worse the problems are they create, up to and including catastrophic failure. At least thats what their engineers have told me.

Oh, the stories I could tell of dealer fails that I have had to fix. The tuners are the worst, too much power without the mechanicals to back it up. If you spend the money to build the motor, tuners are great but most people just throw a tuner on and go. It ends up being costly in the long run. As for the emissions stuff, a lot if it causes failures and robs power. Egr coolers are the biggest engine killers. It was the downfall of all the 6.0/6.4 Powerstrokes. The DEF just ruins everything it touches in any diesel from any manufacturer. On whatever truck I keep, I will likely leave it stock and just delete stuff as it requires replacement. I don't need a tuner, these trucks have plenty of power for my use. Thanks for watching.

I only recently found your channel because I was a little interested in the whole old Mustang body onto new Mustang running gear swap, you seemed to be doing it in a way that made more sense to me. So I;m watching some of your old builds, when you admit you are a mechanic during the day it clicked why I like the way you build and rebuild cars, as a mechanic myself, albeit in Australia, I appreciate the way you build things up the way they should be, not necessarily the way that is easiest.

I've replaced an EGR cooler bypass valve before, it's one of those jobs that you just get creative with to get it done. As for the 5 volt ref shorting out, I've done that one personally. I pinched the 5 volt ref for the exhaust gas pressure differential sensor between the driver side accessory drive bracket and the engine block. The short overloads the ECM and kills the truck to prevent ECM damage. I've torn down six of those LML duramax engines for fuel system replacements, I'm pretty good at them now lol

Changing that cover is MUCH easier than the valve itself. lol Sometimes it is ok to cheat. My LBZ never needs anything so I get to learn everything about the LML. Thanks for watching.

@@vehcor Oh definitely. But if you ever do have to change it, having Monster spline drive wrenches and a long handle swivel head 1/4" ratchet helps quite a bit 😉 once the exhaust inlet to the egr is unbolted, I just pull the whole EGR out to do that bypass valve. The one I worked on took about an hour to replace both the EGR valve and EGR cooler bypass valve, all thanks to that GENIUS engineer who decided to have the mounting hardware facing the bulkhead haha

This is the reality with a car of truck rebuild now these days. The didn't had the problem of blowen Ecu's 50 years ago. The engine of the doctert up truck sounds really good, that is a big plus and saves you some money 👍

Perhaps you should send this to that MASTER GM tech. with 18 years experience. Plug in and pray is not the same as diagnosing problems as you did in this video. Great job, and I agree it is no longer the "mistake". Pain in the butt; possibly. Very nice truck in the end, which is near.
