I'm just glad that Sony patched out the PS4/5's CBOMB issue, but it still seems like CFW is the way to go with the PS3 to bypass the issue, probably even for the PS Vita since physical copies of games for that platform were already hard to come by and are only getting more expensive.

I don't think the battery issue is a problem with the PS Vita. The battery of my Vita recently drained completely and when i powered it on again with my charger attached to it i needed to set the time and date again. Because i knew about the p-ram battery issue on the PS3/PS4/PS5 i tested if my digital games were still working while my Vita wasn't connected to the PSN. I tested a PS1 Classic, PSP and a digital Vita game and all worked without prior connection to the internet.

I heard some square enix psx games have license issue in ps vita so yeah cfw is must for ps vita

For the Vita, memory cards are expensive AF you're better off using the SD2VITA adapter for using big and cheap 128GB SD cards, and ironically it uses the Cartridge slot. As for PS3... while i havent been updated in the CFW scene for a while, i heard they can still ban you from playing online, so I wanna keep a PS3 for online games and a backwards compatible one for all those PS1, 2 and PS3 games.

I'd like to think the homebrew community will save the day again, just like they did for PSP and Vita. Even if I do have a currently un-CFW-able Super Slim and an already-CFW'd Slim. If Sony never makes another PS3 firmware, maybe I'll be safe with an ethernet cable data transfer.

It’s a good thing they fix the CMOSS battery issue with the PS4 and PS5,now they have to fix the same issue with the PS3,I’m still using my PS3 super slim today.

Only got to this through an article and been away from watching these. Glad to see this. Otherwise besides not showing a physical PAL compared to only NTSC US and J titles for regional differences or showing other region accounts (a European/Oceania or Japanese account which of course either is up to the person if they want/need them but would have been nice to see still (or footage from other users willing to feature their footage/shout them out) this was a good video to confirm just encase any changes with the newer PS5 updates since the state of it in April 2021. Glad can play digital offline on it (don't even have latest updates on my PS3 slim from 2012 and not used the Internet clock setting or PSPs where I change the clock manually all the time when the battery stuffs up with low charge) but yeah the CBOMB on it besides I assume Sony thinking it's not worth the time and effort for PS3 it does suck but hopefully something can happen at some point. At least CFW exists as an option for people that know what they are doing but for us that just use it standard without applying them yeah it's going to be interesting in the next few years.

I’m sure the issue with the PS3 is Sony just really doesn’t want to put the resources into patching the PS3 right now. For corporations like Sony, they usually have to move heaven and earth to get a team to go back to their old tech and patch it when all their focus is on their new stuff, but I’m sure they are bound to roll an update out in the future, and when they do they’ll probably bundle a CBOMB fix with it. Thinking about how they’d probably look at it, they probably aren’t all that concerned about it at the moment since PSN is still running on the console. They probably have a rough “end of life” plan for the console’s network years from now and that CBOMB fix will be a part of it… A statement to the public would be nice though if that was their plans though

I'm pretty sure the only reasons they're patching the PS3 at this point is blocking out CFW (which means nothing) and updating the blu-ray key database

You're probably right across the board - I'm sure they're already into end of life activity for the PS3 since production ended in 2017. Having worked in that kind of company - if saying nothing will cause the same backlash as saying something, it's safer to say nothing. The 'denial' that the CBOMB existed was just from customer support - who really won't have any idea about unidentified problems; I don't expect a public statement at all, until they can say that they identified an issue, but it's been fixed

Great news! For physical game collectors the PS5 is the way to go. You have the huge PS4 library of games that will play better on the PS5 plus the whole PS5 lineup in the future.

Do you know if patches are still usable after the battery dies or Sony don’t support the Ps5 anymore? Because there are some games that have bugs when you play them without patches and would benefit from it, if in the future could be played patched.

​@@fabianDP1992 Patches are not tied to a digital license. Actually even Astro's Playroom worked before Sony fixed the p-ram issue with the battery removed and without connecting to PSN.

The best thing you can do with the PS3 is to mod your system I don't see Sony putting any effort into that system anymore and as I said on one of your earlier videos they've done something to unlock games that are digitally owned which results in them expiring in a couple of thousand years where they previously didn't have an expiration date. It even added a year to my PS+ titles outside of my subscription expiration date lol. I don't know how this affects the C-BOMB issue but you can avoid that altogether by modding your system..

I had a weird thing happen to me on PS Vita: my PS Plus is expiring in 21 days, but Sly 4 has an expiration date set in 2023. It's a PS Plus game I got years ago. All of the other games are expiring in 21 days.

Are you going to address how your Gamertag profile needs to connect to Xbox live in order to play your games on those systems? Same scenario where your PlayStation would not be able to connect to PlayStation Network for the CBOMB. Yes both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live scenario somehow going away or discontinue support altogether is a stretch, but we're already doing a ton of stretching here. Why not verify for yourself on Xbox systems just to be as thorough as you are with the Playstations?

Probably not addressing it because it doesn't work like that. Your digital purchases on xbox will play on any console where the owner of the purchase is logged in, BUT it will also play on whatever console that owner of the purchase set as their home console without them being logged in (except for 360 where the purchase is tied to the console where it was purchased). My brother and I have our homeboxes set to each others consoles so we can share libraries, and I've been locked out of my own purchases when I've lost connection but not his, so it works as intended.

@@Randalftown I'm talking about the actual online connection to the service not a particular gamertag. If Xbox Live were to ever go down and you couldn't reclaim your gamertag the system is done. I work at a game store and I cannot test most games if a gamertag isn't signed in. Not only that - if Live is down I'm locked out of most of my library at home as well until they're back up and running. There's multiple scenarios that Render games unplayable and I'd like to know what exactly they are so put it through the texts.

So PS3 is still ticking away sadly. Can't wait to be locked out of the hundred or so games I bought on there. And the cherry on top for me was that I bought dlc for dissidia 012 on PS3 and now I'm locked out of installing it on the vita because the option to get it via the download list isn't there, and the newest firmware doesn't allow you to transfer games or content from the PS3 to the vita. Thanks for stealing $30 bucks from me, Sony! Guess I had that one coming for being too loyal of a customer, wtf.

Color me surprised. Color me super surprised! Thanks for showing the proof and using your own PS5 as the test subject. This new info puts Sony in a slightly more favorable light, though I'm still not going back. Sony needs to rebuild its roster of Japanese talent and quit censoring games/ anime before I'll pick up a PS5. They also need to show first party titles that interest me, which they haven't done since Bloodborne.
