Typical WoW experience: Quest xp is starting to dry up. Where can I go to pick up a bunch of new quests? I know, Stranglethorn Vale! * *3 hours later* * 2 hours and 50 minutes spent as a ghost, only one quest completed. Yeah, this was a mistake.
@Matthew-uv6gl5 жыл бұрын
Two areas which can be easily overlooked, but good fillers for horde side: Stonetalon Mountains. The level range is smashed in between Barrens and Ashenvale and while there is a quest that sends you that direction, it is a bit out of the way. Once you get to the quest hub though, there are a lot of quests to shorten the gap between Barrens and the higher end Ashenvale quests. Though on PvP servers this zone generally has far more alliance than horde and you will always be outnumbered. Still worth keeping in mind if the zone isn't packed (low server population at certain times of the day, either way ahead or behind of the pack when leveling). The flats in Thousand Needles. It, too, is a bit off to the side. Even though it is part of Thousand Needles, it feels like a separate zone with a cut-off quest hub. The quests here aren't super amazing, but most of them are kill quests and the wide open flat area makes for easy grinding. The turtle shells sell for a decent amount of money as well.

Feralas was nice too, but had to few Quests for Horde and I usually outleveled it. I actually like questing in interesting zones and was always a little frustrated that you outleveled zones (everything is grey...) most of the time before you had finished all the available quests. I'm actually looking forward to fully experiencing zones this time, which is one main reason why I'll play WOW Classic, even though I would have preferred a Burning Crusade Classic server for it's better character mechanics.

1000 needles is easily one of the best zones and so iconic, the mesas and highland plateaus along with the cliffs and iconic quests like the leap of faith and escort quest free at last to take Lakota out of the Grimtotem controlled Darkcloud pinnacle. The boiling lake in the middle to farm water for casters and the infamous shimmering flats to get carrot on a stick and the race way into tanaris. Idk if I've ever leveled a character without going here. The moonwell robot quest was annoying though for horde. lol ok I'm 3 zones in and I disagree with each of them being in a list of "best zones to level in" - Arathi is ok for a level or two but the amount of group content later on is awful. If you don't have a dedicated group you're better of just moving on to badlands/desolace/alterac mountains once you finish off the solo quests. - Hillsbrad is great for leveling but you have to go there pretty over-leveled or you'll run out of soloable quests quickly. Not to mention you'll receive a lot of quests later on that are in the 31-35 range meaning you'll have to go thousand needles or another 25+ zone to get 28-31. There's also the group quests that can be hit or miss for finding teammates to run them. Add in the horrors of being in Hillsbrad on a PvP server and I'd say Hillsbrad is an ok zone. - Ashenvale is just too big, and not really necessary in my books to be considered a great zone. Horde can skip it pretty much entirely by just sticking to the Barrens, then doing Stonetalon, then going to Hillsbrad. Alliance have a better option in Redridge and Darkshire. Not to mention there are a few high levels running to Azshara and Felwood that'll happily make you do the 4 minute GY run lol. - Felwood I agree with great zone and I always hit it up for like 49-52 leveling. - Winterspring I don't really even consider a leveling zone. I agree the Everlook FP is a must and that it's worth going to the zone for the Rep and mount grind, but there are way too many people running around looking for BL for it to be considered a real questing zone for a PvP server. There's a couple quest chains from Felwood and Un'Goro that send you there but besides those chains I wouldn't spend anytime questing there on a PvP server. - Redridge/Duskwood are an absolutely amazing questing combo. You might as throw just throw Westfall in there too unless we're counting WF as a starting zone. - Searing Gorge is great for Alliance and OK for Horde (kinda like the plaguelands are), burning steppes are also OK for both but it doesn't have a ton of non-dungeon related quests. Usually on Horde you can get a level or so from both of these zones and Alliance can get 2 or more from Searing Gorge. - Tanaris is a top tier zone and an absolute must just like Feralas and the Hinterlands. You can go to Tanaris at like 41-42 and get plenty done, not to mention it has ZF. Once you're around 47 you can come back to Tanaris and get even more quests too. An A+ zone. At this point you'll have a lot more FPs and mages can do ports meaning zone hopping isn't nearly as bad as the mid 20s-30s. Not to mention the amazing soundtrack in Tanaris. - Un'Goro is amazing it's good for a few levels later on, it's a simple shape, none of the quests are too hard, there are some fun questlines with really good rewards like the Linken questline and the questline to get the Sunken Temple quest. This zone is a must, head there at like 48 (after the 3 zones mentioned above) and have a grand time :) - oh ok I mentioned Westfall earlier with Redridge and Duskwood. A really great zone that all alliance races should try to head to once they hit 10/11. Night Elf will have a hard time getting there without a mage but it's worth it if you can get there since the next 3 zones are amazing. - The Barrens are Classic leveling. Never been a better zone. What more can I say about this zone that hasn't already been said? - W/E Plaguelands are great, even better for Alliance than Horde, but they can definitely be frustrating at times. A lot of ganking goes on because of the dungeons in each zones and the rare mats you can get in each. It can also be annoying as Horde to have to run out of the zone to turn in most quests. These are my favorite zones thematically though so I always grind them into dust on each toon! - OMFG just accidentally clicked on something and thought I lost this whole post. Too close. - STV is an amazing questing zone if you know what you're doing. Going there around 30 is a trap because you're not going to be able to level very far before having to quest elsewhere because of the variance in the quests there. Not to mention on PvP servers you're always at risk of getting ganked (although in my experience it doesn't happen as often as people say it does). I go here around 36/37 and I can usually get 4 or so levels before having to go to another zone. There's also a trove of quests for 45ish players but most will require a group. Know what you're getting into and this zone will treat you really well.

Also, free stuff, excessive convenience and ruining the class balance. I always think of the Sid Meier quote about game development when people bring up WoW. "A good game is a series of meaningful choices". I think he meant to emphasize the word "meaningful", which got totally lost in LFGs, free rerolls, class flattening and welfare gear that was almost the same as raid rewards. WoW was never perfect, with weird class choices (Shaman shield specialization...), poor gear optimization, dead end quests and zones, etc. But the basic design of it was. Because it forced you to make a series of meaningful choices that you were then stuck with, which was what made them meaningful. And the worst part of this for me is that in the process Blizzard managed to ruin the genre, not just their own game. I played Wildstar for a bit, and thought it was very good. But I quit when I realized that I was raiding without ever having felt the need to really talk to another player, largely because the game had the insufferable LFG system ready from day one. Because of course it did! The Great WoW has an LFG, so we must have one too! Most of the time I had no idea where in the game world I was because the game had teleported me there with the LFG without having to say a single word to another player. And never mind that this kills the player community, obviously. Who needs other people in an MMORPG anyway? Overrated, I say! Wildstar and WoW post-TBC are MMORPGs for people who hate MMORPGs. And now that's the only kind of MMORPG available, thanks to WoW. For all intents and purposes the genre is dead and buried.

Seemed there were scant few zones you didn't mention, LOL. My recollection of vanilla leveling means that you'll go to damn near EVERY zone. Sometimes multiple times due to a number of quests that would go something like 'Oh, we need you to go over the the OTHER continent and go get/kill XYZ.' Fun times! There's little need for anyone to go near the capitals of the opposite faction and their corresponding lowbie zone (Org/Durotar, SW/Elwynn Forest, Teldrassil/Darkshore, TB/Mulgore). Dues to Scarlet Monastery in Tirisfal... eh, but no NEED to go near the capital if you go there. Oh wait, yes there is, since getting thru the level 50+ WPL as a shortcut to SM at level 30-40 is nigh on impossible.

You can maybe leave out 2 questing zones total not counting the other factions zones. So you gonna visit everything anyway. I personally skip ashenvale as alliance and visit every single other zone till 60 (except tirsfal, silverpine durotar mulgore and barrens). I never had to farm xp and even had quest left undone when hitting the final ding dong

A few that spring to mind that you missed are Silths, which you can gain access from Un'Goro Crater, Cenation hold will provide some much-needed quests around the 55-60 level. It's a must for Druids anyway. Sliverpine Forrest, I remember the place because of Shadowfang keep. Plus the isle there. Levels 18-20. Stonetonlon Mountains. The peak was the alliance area, you gain access via the tunnel from Ashenvale if i remember correct. Mid 20's levelling zone. Killing goblins who were chopping down trees! Horde pick this place up from Desolace. Blasted lands. sure again it was early to late '50s. many decent quests to be had in this zone. Nethergarde keep for Ali, Dreadmaul for horde. Swamp of Sorrows, but I cannot remember the levels, maybe 40's. Thousand Needles, mostly horde. And the Plaguelands, east and west. I remember it as end game questing zone. Lots of hard group stuff. The Hinterlands was up that way as well. I spent ages up there.

In Classic your make your up to the winterspring frostsaber trainer atop the big rock. He will start you on a lengthy quest chain. At the end of which you will be exalted with the frostsaber trainers and can aquire the coolest mount in the game.

jumping from zones 40-50 to 10-20 then going back to 50-60... this doesn't feel right :D a good idea would be to redo this video first of all seperating horde/alliance and exploring the zone & branching from there to the next zone appropriate for your level. For example barrens can be seperated to north and south for different level quests and you could go up to ashenvale, etc... saying about the main npc camps that offer quests, etc I would love a revisit on your take on questing zones!
@WillEmmo5 жыл бұрын
I could do more for sure! I just kinda wanted the zones I showed to be in a rough order of "how useful they are" So Barren, Westfall and STV had to rank highly for me! But I do understand your point

Whats the criteria here? If its questing experience (not the experience mechanic), howd westfall make it in here over darkshore? Westfall is largely agreed upon as the worst of the 12-19sh zones. Only use i have found for it is rushing the kill quests with a group of 3-5

@alexeydulin98045 жыл бұрын
Arathi: next to no regular quests, incredibly shitty graveyards, elite quests that take a shit load of time wasted on them, while the reward is basically a regular quest reward. A lot of people will be grinding elementals for a warrior quest or reagents. People camping 2 rare spawns (cloak and trinket). What is good about this zone in terms of leveling?
