@PolySaken cows and pigs bust through everything, but they tend not to escape a well-maintained electric fence. As long as it's just strong enough a shock to make them uncomfortable touching it, they stay away. They rub up against barbed wire to scratch themselves, stretching the wire and eventually breaking the fence, and then escape and do damage to the surrounding ecosystem. The feral hog problem in the US? Escaped farm animals (and some uneducated idiots that we like to call "bucket biologists" that think releasing animals into the ecosystem where they aren't native is a good idea)

A friend of mine worked there for some years and he told me that the personnel that works there has to clean it every 2 hours, (and if I remember correctly the machine goes into fail/safe -mode if not cleaned properly). So, when they had a lot of guests and/or not enough people who worked that day, the ice cream machine stayed "broken" until they had time to clean it.

Funny story. When I was stationed in The Pentagon, there was a shop that bought the wrong carpet, like 20+ years ago, and their carpet was carrying SO much static electricity. If you touched a computer case, that would power the computer off, as it saw it as an activation of the soft switch. It was also wiping all things that used crypto, because they have anti-tamper stuff, and the extra voltage was seen as a tamper attempt and would wipe the keys. They only had that carpet a couple of weeks I think, but it was a wild time. You could stand next to a filing cabinet, shock yourself on it, remove your hand, and touch it again, and shock yourself again.

That's a valid question though. I grew up on a farm and we had electric fences to keep our horses from escaping their paddock. I touched them once by accident, because I thought I turned the fence off and we used to climb over them to get onto the paddock (there was a gate that was safe to operate no matter what, but we were lazy...) and from then stayed fucking far away from it. It was powerful enough to keep an elephant away...
@gundorstoneskin59004 жыл бұрын
Oh, yeah absolutely. I worked with horses for a while (feeding, taming, training, cleaning their beds) and pretty much all the paddocks were fenced with just two strands of electrified copper/polypropylene string, and as a "gate" the paddocks just had a strand of galvanised wire attached to the "string" with a rubber-handled hook connected to a spring which went in an eye screw, the problem is that a few of the rubber handles were damaged, so I quickly learned to grab them in a specific way.

@@PichDextro Went to my grandpa's house, he was working on the electric fence. Just standing there holding on to it while it was on. I could see his arm twitching a little. I asked if it hurt? nah, just tingles a bit. So grabbed it too....problem was that grandpa was wearing thick rubber boots and i was bare foot in the wet grass....i say it was a rather shocking result.

they're not everywhere, so special equipment is required to find them. Take a piece of glass, apply a thin metallic oxide coating on one side, and place it on a wooden table with the oxide side up. Using a tape measure and protractor, find 2 feet and 90 degrees from the glass. Get a cup of lukewarm water then dip your fingers in it. Smear the edges of the glass with your wet fingers while looking at the glass from the point we measured earlier. You should be able to spot a trogdolyte within a couple minutes.
