i was born in 2005, around the time linkin park was growing hugely. My dad grew up listening to linkin park. So he got me into their music around my age of 4. He knew chester in person as well. I had a rough childhood with my parents. My dad was an addict, and before you knew it i was separated from my parents with never seeing my mom since then and my dad visiting two to four times a year until 3 yrs ago when i turned twelve. He started doing drugs again, And last year i heard from my aunt who heard from my mom that he had sadly committed suicidal overdose from heroin, No clue whether it was intentional or accidental. I then over time struggled into depression when in late 2019 i was placed in a mental hospital, then another one, then a temporary replacement home. Now i am back with my family and nothing's really changed. I'm still struggling. But listening to chester sing brings light to my day but always makes me cry at the same time. Rest in peace dad and Chester.

My god I was shocked to see you cry, and I was feeling sad because I instantly taught "My god that man must cry because he probably was in that situation". I really didn't expected you to cry on that song and it really impacted me. I really love your channel because, well I'm not used to see Seniors listening to new style of music (mostly metal, such as Make them suffer or Desolated, Periphery etc...). Also you have a simple but lucid listening when you listen to music, which is pleasant, because so many youtube channels just react on songs but don't actually say intelligent things about it. I wish you good health and to keep up your work :)
@williamroeben7 жыл бұрын
I do my reaction videos this fashion PRECISELY because so many "reaction" channels are a literal CANCER on youtube. I cannot STAND those people who sit and STARE at a video and don't SAY anything about it; I hate those people that jump around like chimpanzees on meth- just SIT DOWN and TALK to me, dammit! I want to KNOW why you like something... tell me! So I do my reactions in a transformative (CONSTANT commentary) fashion and TALK about WHY I like something. Sorry for the book, but thank you so much for enjoying my videos and actually catching WHY I do them the way I do :)
@williamroeben7 жыл бұрын
...fact is, while it is CERTAINLY not worth getting into a legal fight, especially since I am one guy and a record label has a legal DEPARTMENT- a transformative video SHOULD be a PAID video... but life is life :)

This is the song that introduced me to Linkin Park. One of my friends played it in class for one of our assignments. The news about Chester hit me harder than the other celebrity deaths in recent months, mostly because, even though I can't say I was/am a big LP fan, songs like this one really spoke to me during my teens. People talk about Cobain and co. being the voices of a generation; Chester was definitely a voice of mine.

He didn’t deserve to go through what he did in his childhood. He suffered with abuse, and rape when he was only seven up until he was 13. 😭 He was bullied and teased at school, his parents divorced when he was 11, and he fell into drugs and alcohol addiction. May he RIP❤️

I still cry when I hear his voice. Suicide is a very tricky and controversial topic, but I'm glad that people are starting to discuss mental health more and working on de-stigmatizing it. I lost someone I loved very much to suicide 6 months before Chester passed. I was really mad at my friend after the horror of it all began to wear off, but then it hit me...he had previous attempts as a teen and had been in his 30s when he died. I thought, "Who the hell am I to demand my loved one stay here, when they've been suffering and fighting for so long, just because I'm not ready to let them to go?"The year before my friend passed I had been drugged and raped and I had always sorta assumed I could sorta understand that trauma, but I didn't. Not until I was smack dab in the middle of it and my mind was doing it's best to deny it all. After the rape and my friend passing, my suicidal ideation went up (for people with chronic pain it's common to have a little). I once again found myself in a position that I thought I understood. It's so easy for us to judge someone else's actions even when we have NO IDEA what that person was actually experiencing. (I'm doing better now, just an FYI). As people, we really need to work on our judgment of other people and work on empathy. Thank you for your reaction to this...I felt it all with ya.

Thank you for being so open and authentic in your videos, for sharing yourself with us. A couple of days ago I watched an interview with the guitarist from Chester's old band Grey Daze, that recently released a remake/remaster album of their old songs titled Amends. It was Chester's idea to do that, but he never got to do it, so they did it in his memory. The guitarist mentioned that the title comes from a line from their song Morei Sky "If I had a second chance, I'd make amends". He felt sure that's how Chester would feel now. Unfortunately, depression only has to win one battle, while you have to win again and again, and there's no do over. I don't blame Chester, but I desperately wish he could be with us today. But I'm grateful we even got to have him. Linkin Park has helped me so much with their music, helped me understand and given me a sense that someone was with me in what I was going through. To me, that's the main strength of their music. Given what I've heard you share on your reactions to LP, I think you might find 'Waiting for the End' and 'One More Light' deeply moving, but they might be very tough to listen to, so only do so if you feel up for it. 'Nobody Can Save Me' and 'Battle Symphony' from their most recent album are songs I find very inspirational, you might too. Wishing you all the best, and thanks again for reacting to my favourite band. Lots of love all the way from Denmark.

After years of supporting Chester and linkin park ,you sort of understand how much Chester wanted to go , over the years the songs they have released just listen to the lyrics . Just reading them makes me feel pain and that’s how Chester felt , some linkin park fans criticised the band for the most recent song heavy , because it was too “poppy” but the thing is IT DOESNT MATTER the only thing that matters is that it is written from the heart and that’s what Chester did! I understand if you feel this is wrong , but after being a linkin park fan for at least 8 years I feel like this is what I believe Thank you for reading 💓 RIP Chester Bennington You will always live in our hearts ⭐️☘️

* Tigg * MSP sorry to break your bubble but Mike Shinoda wrote 90% of the lyrics, we'll never know why he committed suicide but the most probable explanation is because his close friend Chris Cornell died.
@sockfish1236 жыл бұрын
On the album Numb's song writer is credited as "Linkin Park". I agree Mike Shinoda was the main creative force of Linkin Park but there was sure a collaborative effort. The vast majority of Linkin Park's early works were songs about feeling alone or depressed and Chester doesnt have to be the only one in the group to feel those emotions. Speaking of being too "poppy", I stopped listening to the band after Minutes to Midnight because they indeed went too pop and that's not what I'm into.
