I love your stoicism in dealing with the rain. Cool, calm, you don't work any faster or panic--you just keep going and get the work done. I cut trees for a living in Nashville, Tennessee. When we see rain, we panic and call it a day. lol. Much respect to you and what you do. Wonderful video.

That’s it mate .. when I see the rain I think wow what an opportunity to make some sale. Everybody is home and don’t want to be going out to garages. And most mechanics will be calling it a day 😁🍻🍻

Curious to know the reason you sometimes lower the front wheels onto those short boards before torquing the wheel nuts? Another fine example of your work. Well done. Thinking about it.. Is it so you can slide the jack out when working on cars with low ground clearance? Just drive off the boards to complete the job.

Hey man, big respect out to u for doing it mobile, I have been in the trade 30 years and a bit burnt out with it. So enjoyable watching someone like yourself. One question though, do u ever take a rear main crank seal with u just in case they are leaking ?
@WMCS
@WMCS Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback.. much appreciated. A long answer to a short question : I don’t., purely because if the rear main seal is leaking it’s not because it’s faulty. It’s because there’s a bit of Free play in the main crank bearing. Replacing a seal will temporarily mask the problem. The correct way is to replace both big end and main crank bearing then install the new Crank seal… This can all be done in a matter of hours whilst the gearbox is out. But most of the time customers don’t really want to pay the extra to do it correctly.

@@WMCS actually thinking about it, I had a vauxhall astra 2.0 dti, it threw the crankshaft pulley just driving about one day, i replaced it but there were still issues with it afterwards, the block itself leaked below the rocker box and it threw up engine warning lights when I went on the motor way. Needless to say it got too much with my knowledge and budget at the time so i scrapped it. I think the same instance applies to do with your answer to the good question asked previously, had to be the crankshaft trueness that was the problem looking back now. Well you live and learn.

Only attempted clutch once, on a Megane (the shaky arse model). Helped do one on a Mk2 Capri once (beautiful car). Wished i'd see these videos long ago would have been so helpful, i realise how un-prepared i was after seeing how to do it properly, Quick Question. When you jack front end up are you lifting it on front subframe? Always been worried (for no justifiable reason) of doing that. Would make life allot easier going forward. Also id love to know if you have any tricks or tips for seized ball joints and things. You must see some horror shows with things like that.

Hi mate, I put a gearbox on my 07 fiesta 1.2, I bled the system 2 man, after about a month I noticed struggling getting into gears, I bled it again and loads of lacrosse bubbles came out so I re-bleed the system till no bubbles, then a month later same thing. The fluid hasn’t dropped in the reservoir and I can’t see no leaks. Is it possible it’s sucking air from slave cylinder or is it that there can be still air trapped in system. Thanks mate any advice will be appreciated.
@WMCS
@WMCS Жыл бұрын
It might be the slave cylinder is faulty. Not unheard of. But just check under the master cylinder. (Under the clutch pedal). Check for any moisture around the gaiter. See if there’s any dust stuck to it. That might be an indication the seal is slowly leaking.
@peterjones2241
@peterjones2241 Жыл бұрын
@@WMCS thank you mate, I’m dreading taking the gearbox off again to replace the slave cylinder. I’ve checked the master cylinder and no moisture, I bled it yesterday, I checked it today by bleeding it back to reservoir so I don’t waste brake fluid and there weren’t any bubbles, I’ll leave it for a week and bleed it again or when I feel the clutch bitting point is closer to the floor. Now it bites about half way and when it gets worse it bights closer to the floor. Thanks 🙏 for your help
