16:22 - Interesting little easter egg - The number tattooed onto BJ's arm at the concentration camp, the one he cuts out right here, is 04151513. Break that down into pairs, and you get 04 15 15 13. Convert that into alphabetical code and you get DOOM. This teased the release of Doom 2016 two years later.

fun fact: the "egg grenade" (the said Eihandgranate 39) was more common in the german army than the iconic M24, they only made M24 grenades for propaganda (and sometimes) training porpuses, they rarely used it in action for various reasons, the main could be that if you were strong enough, you could throw it way more far than it was intended, so it would explode mid-air and would do exactly nothing but wasting a grenade and probably a soldier

2:46 The statement that is being done here is partly false though. Yes some Nazis technologies were dumb as fuck (super heavy tanks, rocket planes more dangerous for the pilot than the Allies bombers, tornado canons...). But it's forgetting that they actually did have some weapons that were clearly ahead of their time : ancestors of ballistic missiles, operational RC bombs, flying bombs, the first assault rifles ! Even their heavy tanks, save the fact they were extremely fuel consuming and encline to engine failures, did work quite well : Allied crews were afraid of them. Of course if the Allies won, there is a reason : Allied tactics and logistics was far superior - but i see a lot of people, probably thinking they are subversive because they are more updated on the subject, stating that the Nazis had dumb tactics, dumb weapons and they were just bad at war... Damn, hearing them would make us believe that the Nazis surrendered in 1940. Man if they held for so many years, there is a reason, chill out. Yes there were some dumb aspects in their war efforts, but there were clever ones too. The Allies wouldn't have rushed on Nazis scientists and technologies if it wasn't the case
@ninjakoule9878
@ninjakoule9878 2 жыл бұрын
You are right, the Nazis lost at the logistics front (for example, i live nearby chemichal plant, where Nazis made fuel from coal, because they did not have enough oil), and also because Reich had to deal with a lot of internal problems (resistance, assassinations). I would also say their tactics were quite okay, they did not make that many "mistakes", but if they made a mistake, that mistake was really huge (splitting armies during operation Barbarrossa, having armies on a different beach during D day, wich made invasion in Normandy possible, etc.) I don't know why i see more and more opinions about how nazis were stupid, given that Operation Manhattan consisted of a lot of German scientists, and the whole US space program stood on research that nazis did (and also NASA employed quite a few former Reich scientists). Also they had better tech than the allies, but they (thankfully) lacked resources.

It's not a misconception the Germans were Tech geniuses. Their tanks and everything else were fucking amazing. The problem was because they were the best they were expensive and when they broke down they were handmade so you couldn't just swap out parts. They were Tech geniuses but that was their downfall. There relied to heavily on making a few of the best possible units instead of making fucktons of OK units like the US and Russia. And despite their systems being leagues better than anything else any other country was using. It didn't matter because the enemy could just throw 30 at 1. And so long as 1 of 30 gets through you win. Hell the US and Russia owe a lot of their progression just before the cold war to captured German scientists. Americans and Soviets used mass production and human waves as long as they were in the war. I will concede I was incorrect about the nukes but America and the Soviet Union do owe a lot of their progress to German scientists landing people on the moon included. Rocket technologies and advanced fighter jets and all sorts of bullshit. Precision German engineering is so much of a fucking cultural thing that has existed for so long that it's a fucking meme at this point. Germans always go above and beyond to make the absolute best of a thing even if that makes the thing cause so much that it's not worth using. They are notoriously overly ambitious. The upper echelons of nazi high command were too fuckin stupid to allow the smarter men to capitalize, reliability is a very important thing when making any piece of military equipment you do not want it failing on you in the worst moment or if at all possible never... so if something broke in a german tank, you're not the first and probably couldnt get the parts needed to fix it

It's just that they were so mass produced that you could just swap out a few parts or even just leave it there because there are plenty to take its place. Germans didn't focus on that Germans focused on overengineering their bullshit to the nth degree that it was so expensive and hard to make that they couldn't just mass produce it. I remember reading that Germany was ahead at the start because other nations didn't advance that much after the first World War and didn't expect another one. And much of the reason why Germany lost was due to a lack of fuel for their tanks. They were getting so low that they took an abrupt turn when they were about to take Moscow if only to get to the oil fields in Ukraine. It was at that point that the turn of the war occurred and they got pushed back.

By the time Germany put fighter jets into action they were desperate to find a way to turn the war back into their favor which you also “glazed over” the fact that German fighter jets literally cooked their pilots inside. Edit: Unless you count "trying to keep his disabled son a secret" as defecting. I can see that. 18:26 - This is probably just a joke, but he said that it didn't work because "there must be something very wrong with your cerebral cortex." There is - it's full of shrapnel. I'm probably just dense, but it took me many, many playthroughs the catch that line and connect the dots.
