Thanks Lowell George for the song.I think Linda Ronstadt and Tom Petty covered it the best. Tom left us four years and three months after this performance. I never met him ,never even got to go see him and the Heartbreakers. But we both are from the South and we were both born in 1950. I have felt a connection to him through the music , as if he was a brother or a friend that’s always there for you. I listen to his music just about everyday.I call it my Tom fix . Not to sound morbid but I have left instructions to have Angel Dream played at my funeral. There will never be another Tom Petty. I don’t think he would have been Tom Petty without the Heartbreakers. Thank you guys for the beauty you left us.

I can't say that this is the best version, even though I've been a Tom Petty fan for over 40 years now. This version is definitely in the top tier, especially the keys and tasty guitar, but I say what I did because this song has been covered by far more folks than I could ever recall.

Saw little feat in '73. No mechanical device could capture his voice...utterly awesome. His version was the best . Kudos to Petty and deepest respect for Linda though.

What is going on with Tom's left hand? It is shivering .... It seems he has got some pain playing his git. I miss him, he was one of my heroes
@dheliker5 жыл бұрын
In his later years his hand shook. You can see it in a lot of videos, some years more than others. He kind of uses it for vibrato, but it is clear there is an issue. He said in an interview it was from when he punched the wall in 1984 and his hand had to be surgically reconstructed. I'm not sure how much pain he was in from that. I think over time Scott Thurston took on more rhythm guitar duties to help out.
@raimundebel25315 жыл бұрын
Hi Dallas, Thanks for your kind information. I know some kind of vibrato. But I was a bit confused to watch it so clear. I regret that he has gone much to early. He was a great storyteller.

Some people get a tremor from nerve damage or other reasons that may affect one or both hands. Its unlike that other "pill rolling" type tremor people develop with Parkinson's which is also usually one hand or limb to start. It can be from an injury or virus or many causes.

the best is the original for me and why? Because the original is written from the heart, any interpretation is of course also cool and good, but nothing beats the original, the voice, the emotion. I dont like Petty's voice for this song. Growin up with the original with a trucker dad and hearing this one really doesnt do alot to me
