Thanks Brian for showing us a flexible pattern and how to make one!! I never knew there was such a thing. Can't wait for Part II.

I just bought a 1948 willys jeep, and it needs a corner piece like the one you made, along with other patches. I've never made anything like that inner fender well, but thanks for showing how to make the flexible pattern. I did a search and just found your channel, and like how you really know these vehicle's, and part suppliers to stay away from like omix ada. Both my grandpa's fought four year's in wwll, one was a medic at the invasion of Normandy, and the other was an anti tank sergeant who also helped blow up bridge's and other structures at the battle of the bulge. As kid's he had a 68 mule he let us drive, and I've always wanted an old jeep like the one's from wwll. My brother was a lot younger than me, so i was the one who helped build, wrench, and help on the farm. Even though I'm a lady, they taught me a lot. I just subbed to this channel. G-d bless.

Thanks for the comment and the little bit of history about your family. I hope you will enjoy my channel, you won't find another like mine with straight forward information and easy going attitude. Good luck with your Jeep,

That's great information for us beginners to make a flexible pattern like that.

flexible patterns are easy to make and are a great way to pattern complex shapes. Try it on your next project and you will be amazed . Brian

I can relate, in my part of the world, it’s virtually impossible to find decent reproduction panels for what I need, or any at all for that matter. I invested in metal shaping equipment last year and working up to the point where I can start doing panels for other people as well as what I need.

My m38 tub was covered in bed liner . I used citristrip gel from Lowes It worked great. I would leave it on about 24 hours and It just pealed off. I bet it would take that undercoating off.It smells nice too.

That stuff won't touch the undercoating on these fenders. Tried a bunch of recommended products and nothing has worked yet.

Brian; For the "glue' check aircraft supply shops ( Aircraft Spruce ) there is a two part adhesive sealer called Pro Seal . Once it is mixed and sets up it is stuck!...Hal

Great info on the flexible pattern! Quick question; if you turn that inside out does it fit the other side? I have a 1946 Dodge pickup the right fender is missing, the left is not. Thanks
@metalshaperJeep6 жыл бұрын
The right and left fender on this jeep are different so I need to make a pattern for each side. You can use it for a left and right pattern if they are the same. I always make a pattern for each part to allow for any differences, and I like to have patterns for each part I make.

I'm having so much trouble getting the undercoating of my 1962 pickup it's driving me crazy. If you come up with something please let me know. Thanks for making videos.

Brian... I would like you to show where the factory holes are located for the horn, wiring connector block and cable loom hold down straps. If you can sell a pattern showing where those holes go, I will be interested in buying it. The replacement fenders available do not indicate where these items attached to the fender. Juan Zayas

I use 3m 3051 low tack paper tape. I have found the best place to get it is Uline. they have the low tack tape and the shipping tape in 1" width that I use. Fast shipping and best prices from what I have found. I usually buy in case quantity to get the best deal. Brian

Hear them rusting at night... I actually laughed out loud at that.

Here in the north east rust is a serious issue so doing my best to keep these new fenders rust free. Glad you got a chuckle out of it. Brian

There is a huge problem replicating modern contoured panels, when they bang these out on the huge presses the factory has, they are simple, but to reproduce these contours without a lot of distortion is very difficult, as you say, OK for making your own panels, but you will never make a profit making to sell, I look forward to seeing the finished panel. Thanks for posting.
