As a Onehander playing with the GPro for a while, this racquet feels like a relieve. Maneuverability, Control and Feel is 10/10. With weight at 3/9 it becomes very stable and somewhat forgiving. I've tested a dozen racquets in the last few years (mainly control racquets) but this stands out the most. It doesn't feel like anything u can buy from the shelves. It's prob. the best feeling frame i've come across. The thin beam with the solid response and low stiffness makes it an absolute masterpiece. When u customise it to your spec, it does everything and is a clear 1to1 racquet to your own abilities. It's the first racquet I trust myself to say it feels like an extension of my arm... unmatched frame, especially for onehander!!

Nice review, and very interesting racket. Since it's somewhat unique I wonder if I could ask you to check the string density please. I've played with the UT18x20 and it's one of the tightest beds. Since similar string patterns can have very different densities in the sweet-spot, I use a calculation of the dimensions of the central 9x9 cells area and divide it by 81 to get an average cell size. In the case of the UT18x20 that's 1.1mm square, which is about the tightest I've seen. In comparison the Six.One 95 18x20 has average cell size of 1.3mm square, which is actually similar to many 16x19 rackets. And at the other end of the range, the Six.One 95S 18x16 pattern has average cell size of 1.6mm square. It'd be very interesting to know the density of the UT16x19 in comparison. Thanks.

@@ACTennis Thanks for the reply. Yes that sounds correct and is at the upper end of the range of 16x19s I've measured so far, so is pretty open and therefore quite different to the 18x20. Shame, I was hoping it would be a bit more open than the 18x20, but not so much as this. I guess I'll give it a go and try a tight tension, or thick string first. Cheers.

Another excellent review, attention detail super helpful. I only discovered your content in the last month. Just picked up a 2nd hand Ultra Tour 2.0 in the last week - added 6g across 9 / 12 / 3 plus two overgrips. Loving the control, the ability to swing big from the baseline and crisp/stable at net, but it does keep you on your toes with technique - I want to persist with it. Keep up the great work... brilliant seeing awesome tennis content coming out of Melbourne. :)

You have to add weight to these ultras. I have the 2.0 tour. It’s awful in stock, but after putting weight in the hoop and on the handle plus a leather grip, it transformed into a thing of beauty. Perfect for people who want to customize. I get plenty of power with a 16g, but it’s made for advanced players IMO. It lets me swing out all the way. The sweet spot is smaller then most. Racket is quite soft, which I really enjoy. If you know what your doing this can be the perfect racket, and remember that this racket is not meant to be used in stock form. It needs weight in both the handle and the hoop for it to come to life.

Very good review! 👍🏽 One note, however. String patterns and string densities don't always go hand-in-hand. For instance, the center of the string bed on my son's 18x20 Blade 98 is more open than the center of my 16x18 Pro Staff 6.1 95. I couldn't believe my eyes at first glance, but I confirmed it with my digital calipers.

I havent, are you specifically referring to the customization itself, or the full experience with weighing up the UL100? If the latter, what have you found different with the standard 100? because in the past i've commonly used the L version not the UL of a racquet and weighed it up, and most often than not it's been a better experience than the normal standard version Interested to hear your thoughts, thanks for the suggestion!

I agree with your assessment on control regarding this racquet. It is great for consistency but I’m not painting the lines or getting pinpoint accuracy with this like I do with the Ultra Tour (essentially the 18/20 version of this frame). Playing with this one with the same specs as my UT felt sluggish to me. Instead I removed any counterweighting and went with a balance of about 2-3 points HL. I found this worked much better for me than the 5-6 point HL balance of the UT.

@@christoforosgiatzakis9948 Also a very nice racquet for sure I use the GPro for it's forgiveness, being so huge, with my slow footwork on many occasions, even if i'm late or off centre the shot, it still feels like i hit the middle, and the ball is just as effective Not everyone is into the head shape and headsize though, so people won't really like it in that aspect, but my one is only 332g, 328 SW, 32cm - lower SW comes from an on spec Gpro, but with 1.15mm strings, to reduce about 4pts SW

How about new Solinco XTD18 Whiteout? I heard that it has similar feel to Blade Pro but with easier playability. Or Ultra Pro 18 is better for "easier" time?
@ACTennis
@ACTennis Жыл бұрын
Doubtful it will have similar feel to a Blade Pro, also knowing that it is spin friendly, Blade Pro is more of a attackers racquet to go through the court Ultra Pro requires alot of work, but it's incredibly consistent and super nice feel, totally an advanced racquet if you are going to play a match with it Blade Pro is not easy either because it's just generally a heavier racquet Whiteout is probably going to be the most user friendly, because more free spin, the beam is thin and fast, swingweight is not high, does not necessarilly mean i can say its the best racquet, but it will definitely suit more people

The Ultra Pro looks like a nice 👌 player's frame with good feel and control. Since the swingweight is fairly low in stock form, there's plenty of room to customize to your preferred balance and swingweight. I used the Blade v7 98 16 x 19 for about and found it bit too low powered for me these days. Wilson is still making some nice racquets with Pro line additions to the Blade and Ultra. I have been playing with the Prince Phantom 100p for the last 4 months and found my sweetspot for weight, balance along with nice balance of power and control. Definitely 👍 a good thorough review!

I think you probably sit totally perfect with the Ai98, it's probably an easier version of this racquet, very well balanced and high performing in all categories - Open pattern but not too open, to maintain control - Little thicker beam but not too thick, to give you enough power and spin - Low-to-mid level flexibility for amazing comfort but firm enough to stay connected - All Ezones are very great serving racquets, and very aerodynamic Ultra Tour / Pro for both 18x20 and 16x19 is basically like everything with the Ai, but just asks you to put more effort into it and having to sustain that play is a difficult ask for anyone at our level who plays casually But if you were keen to test it, you should try it with one of your 1.15mm (18g) strings at 40-42lbs, and weighing it up is a must - 2g each side at 10 & 2 o'clock (4g total) - 2g each side at 3 & 9 o'clock (4g total) - counter balance in the buttcap with 8g at the top of the handle (where the grip ends) Promise you that the feel is probably the most amazing feeling racquet you'll ever play with :D PS. in terms of control how this racquet compares to the Wilson Six One 95 Parallel drilling version (2014)
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 3 жыл бұрын
Any Six One will be better than this for control, due to the tight pattern, UP18x20 is also great, but i think Six One with a higher stiffness and point and shoot style crispness gives you mass accuracy

I use the UltraTour97 and Im looking for a racquet with more forgiveness and power ( because I play on clay). I tought this one would be a good choice but seems like its not THAT much powerful, the launch angle is better for clay but seems like its not enough. Im thinking about getting the speed pro, new radical or pro staff 97. Blade 2015 seems like a good alternative aswell since its 18x20 with more power. I can’t demo racquets so looking forward to that pro staff review! Thanks a lot bro! Appreciate ur videos
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks man - you're right, it's not a massive difference, but just enough to make someone like me happier with the change New radical sounds like a nice racquet, haven't got to try it yet because of current reviews, but yep you've listed a number of good alternatives - a weighted up UP16x19 is better than PS97 stock though, PS97 would be lower powered, maybe a little more forgiving, but I've preferred the UP by alot for the time I've gotten to use the PS97 Blade 2015 is always an excellent option

My main racquet is a UT as well. I picked up the UP 16x19 but don't find it all that much more powerful or forgiving than the UT. The racquet that I think is somewhat similar in a bigger head size is the Head Gravity Pro. It has a 'similar' feel to the UT but does have much more power and a bigger sweet spot. Try to demo one if you can.

@@ACTennis I may have to try out a TF40. Are you referring to the 305 or 315 specifically? The paintjob on those is 100 times better than the GPro.
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 4 жыл бұрын
@@marriedwithwatches 305 with some weight to handle to make it handle nicer, it's not really the same as a GPro, launch angle is very low, doesnt have the same huge sweet spot, but given its a 98 you'd expect so, but not bad by any means So i counter with a 1.15 sharp poly, the feel is super smooth and has the power of like a Pure Strike minus the arm breaker

Can you lmk what you would take: Ultra Pro or Prestige Pro (auxetic tour)
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 жыл бұрын
Prestige Pro is probably difficult to move around overall due to the weight, but i think in some ways easier to play with, gives you a little bit more free stability and power compared to the Ultra Pro - Ultra Pro needs to have the perfect spec customzied for your own style to find it's best use, alot more fiddly but is beautiiful when you do

Another great 👍 review. The UT is a true player's frame but is more demanding than the Blade v7 98 16 x 19 based upon your review. Are you playing on carpet courts? If so, definitely alot slower than your typical hard court. On a slower court, I can definitely see where a higher swingweight would be useful to get more power.
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ken - these are synthetic grass courts, they are a little faster than hard courts and bounce a bit lower, well hard courts in Australia anyway, after we have replaced the Rebound Ace courts which were Green, all our blue hard courts are terribly slow, almost like playing on clay courts, which is why Novak loves AO lol

Thanks mate - i mean you don't need to follow me, Ultra Pro/Tour is very personal to your feel, more than other racquets, so if the 337 SW is feeling good, you don't need to change it, i'm at 332, which was the best amount for me, i do prefer swingweights on the lower side

Thank you for putting the hard work and doing this, one can not buy this type of quality content anywhere else, yet alone get it for free! One last question, since I rely on my passing shot quite a lot in the matches, would you say it's easier to make a decent shot when on the run and pushed wide with UP in comparison to Blade Pro?
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 4 жыл бұрын
Appreciate your feedback as usual! Depends on the speed and footwork, i'm kind of late on the run, so i would require the BP's plow and larger sweet spot to do more work for me since i'll be a bit more stretched / off balance alot UP will be much easier to move around on the run, but the ball won't go as far so easily, but if you get there in a good amount of time more often than not, I think it's better from ease of handling, works really well on my one hander, less on my forehand, due to my backhand being more efficient of a swing on the run than my forehand
