Windwalker MONK 10.1 - STARTER Guide and Build for Beginners and Casuals

Windwalker Monk has a lot of buttons BUT can be played in a simplified, Beginner and Casual-friendly way, which I'll explain in detail in this video!
Windwalker Monk is probably the second best Melee DPS in WoW Dragonflight to play if you lack skill and gear, but still want to pump out respectable DPS in your Mythic Plus groups, LFR and other Raids.
As always, my builds aim to reduce the number of buttons to press, but there is only so much one can do in the case of Windwalker Monks, as the class is still bloated with abilities that Blizzard should reduce in future, in my humble opinion.

This is fine for lower content, and not wanting to have many buttons, but dont expect to perform well with this build in M+ at higher keys, you could start like this and get used to the class, but if you want to do higher keys you would have to change your talent build a lot eventually, because you are missing out on so much, key abilities that makes monk do a lot of damage, like Invoker's Delight, Strike of the Windlord, more Touch of Death talents which will make a huge difference if used right, more talent points for Spinning Crane Kick, and definitely Bonedust Brew for AoE, Faeline Stomp is more for single target. Like I said, it's fine if you do lower content, and can make talent adjustments as you try to go for harder content, but your end build will look a lot different then this if you do aim to go for harder content, and it becomes pretty complex if you want to try and master Windwalker, it's a spec to do just okay on without understanding to much, but skill ceiling is pretty high for Windwalker.

Thanks for contributing mate, I always welcome CONSTRUCTIVE comments, which yours is an example of. People tell me I don't take criticism etc, which is a lazy viewers BS - I don't take criticism from people who have done nothing and contributed nothing... Now, on topic - I agree that this is a bare bones, get used to the class and mash a few buttons build. Which is what "faceroll" on the thumbnail is suggesting, but people seem to miss that. These guides are always for people to get used to the class, not to be top dps in competitive high-end content.

Hey, I am looking at the Priest in general, but in all honesty it's among classes that I play the least, and Disc is a spec that's underperforming and the hardest to learn and use properly, in my opinion, sadly. That said, I'm planning to review Shadow soon, and never say never about Disc I guess... :)

I’m a wow noob but I’m really interested in monk. Specifically I’m looking to play a DPS utility spec that translates some of my dps into support heals for party members. Does windwalker allow for that? I was looking at the tree and it seems like faeline stomp with bonedust brew might possibly offer that utility? Would the healing procs from faeline translate to more heals from bonedust bree? Thank you for any information you can provide.

Several things come to mind - 1) Monk is not the most "WoW noob-friendly" class by design. Too many buttons, abilities, synergies you'd have no idea about and need practice to use right. There are simply much better classes to play and learn the OVERALL ropes of the game before you dive into the complexities of the Monk. 2). If you insist, you'd probably benefit from asking advice from the people who have Monk as their main character, with hundreds of hours put into it (I don't, I just play different classes and specs for fun, and while it stays fun for me).

Yeah from what I researched it does seem that monk is a bit complicated but I don’t intend to play it at high levels and I love to themes around it. Basically waiting for the AI voice mod to be released which will voice all TBC and wrath content which I plan to play through chromie time. I agree that people should play specs that are fun, it’s sad to see as I have been researching that so many people are just stuck on the meta specs that look good on meters without much consideration for utility. Imagine the outrage if Blizz didn’t find a way to represent the augmentation on the meters heh. Hopefully there’s a place for a dps spec that trades Some dmg for utility that gets supported in the future. I think windwalker could fill that role just not sure if it currently can.

Retardins are not "broken". At the time of writing this comment (1 month after the video upload - retri were not touched in this period) Fury warriors, subtlety rogues and enhancement shamans do if not more damage, but on par at least. Last two bring considerably more utility to their teams and fury warriors are easier to play then a retri paladin by A LOT - it is a truly "braindead" build with literally 3 abilities to press. Nice guide tho. Thumbs up.

This talents that you show is reeally for the beginners, you miss all the important stuff like Diffuse magic, strike of the windlord, invokers delight ,Bonedust brew, AoE touch of death.. i would say this guide is for ppl what starts with Monk …. :) and for the record Monk isnt really faceroll class , its really proactive and you dont have almost any rotation, just priorities :)

Lol the thing is it's bad for everyone. WW is complicated for new people. But ez for experienced people. I pull 65k dps ez on my 405 ilvl monk. Not pulling 45 is bad
