Wing Chun Trapping Drill

Trapping is used as a brief moment in time where you create an opening by trapping your opponent's limbs together creating a two-on-one situation. Using the centre line and trapping the opponent are two very big concepts in the martial art Wing Chun. Here Sifu Francis Fong shows how the likes to rep out and drill entering.

BRUTAL LESSON ! : Compassion for your opponent Not that you want to let him win, let him dominate you, compassion for what you are learning, teaching, pain receiving and given, sometimes, ultimately, very saddening, life taken. A lot of time in life will we feel rage, and grandeur, and want to destroy things and people. But taking a life, as fast and 'éphémère' life seems to be, taking a life is a lot, a lot of caring, a lot of days, experiences and tribulations gone in a whim, it is so huge and yet the moment pass without a replay. That level of compassion in your mind and soul, calm your heart so that it strikes with balance toward what is 'needed'.

This is the best representation of Wing Chun I've seen.. and i practice teach and love WC! Formlessness in his application (like a real life scenario) but still structural and light.. Cool stuff

No one really realizes how good Wing-chun is good for street fights. Although, it’s just not effective in MMA or someone who knows how to fight, especially if the the opponent has knowledge on boxing, Muay Thai, or anything that is required grappling. Anything that has to do with straight punches (jab) will definitely give a disadvantage to the Wing-chun user. Now this is just based on what I know about Wing-chun, I have a friend who does Wing-chun and it’s hard for him to block my jabs, simply because he does more arm movement than I have in boxing. (please if I have anything wrong, state them in the comments, I have NO MEANS of disrespecting any forms of martial art. Thank you)

It's an exotic and still inferior option than just use boxing kickboxing. You start trapping someone's hand, you trapped yourself. You trade 2 weapons to trap 1 and let the other guy one hand free to fire a straight cross straight into your jaw. The best possible way to strike is to hit high line, if it got block, no need to trap and remove the block, just kick low line (low roundhouse or sidekick to the knee) and go back high again

@@jaketheasianguy3307 you are not well versed in trapping if this is how you think it works or is applied. No one skilled in trapping chases hands, for the true purpose of trapping, and in its true application, is to disrupt your structure. Once your structure is disrupted, you can’t counter until you regain structure, in which you will not have time to do against one who is truly skilled in this art. The problem is many claim to be skilled in WC, but very few really are.
