Great video Gwen. I love the way that you have repeated each part of the tack to allow us to fully absorb all the nuances of each stage

just a small comment, which helped me a lot: the sight! The head follows the eyes, the body follows the head - so it's not only the shoulder, it is the sight. Look where you want to go!

This is huuuuge and often overlooked, especially when trying to go upwind. I can dig in my heels and sheet into the wind. But you don’t really start going upwind aggressively until you look far upwind and then everything just goes.

Brilliant thank you!! The frame by frame helped my identify that I've been holding my back hand down a fraction which leaves me no margin for error. Getting my back hand up a little more has really helped with my speed through the tack. Thank you!

Hey Gwen. I notice that when you are initiating the toe side tack you push the strut away from you with your back hand which makes the hand wing float up and over your head into a neutral position. That subtle move is what I have been missing. I did not understand how to get from fully powered up to having the wing float over my head. Now I do. Thanks! So helpful. You and Damien are awesome teachers. Much appreciated

Thank you Gwen for this tutorial, today I’ve cracked my toe side tack. Been practicing it for a couple of months solid and I could do the turn but only occasionally on the foil, the missing piece was to sheet-in and edge before committing to the turn and boom every single one on both tacks, one happy man here 😊

Merci Damien. The details matter, and this is very clean and clear. Eager to get into the tacks once the wind pick up a bit. A+

I’m still in the early phases of learning wing foil. I have prone foiled for years now. I find myself turning upwind to try and tack and my foil just doesn’t have the glide needed to keep going and harness a bump and get back on the wing. I’ve turned downwind and tried getting back on the wing but I lose a lot of distance. After seeing this video I’m excited to try and learn this.

Great advice and well done! It’s the small movements that make the jibe and tac successful imo

Really useful frame by frame, thank you. Can I ask which KT foil you are riding? I am torn between the Atlas and the Nomad, I am 85kg and mainly ride in small waves and wind swell so was thinking the 960 Atlas as it has more glide.

Riding the 960 Atlas in this video. For small waves and swell I definitely recommend the Atlas over the Nomad. Got one 960 Atlas in stock right here if you are interested: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/kt-atlas-full-kit?_pos=1&_psq=Atlas&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Would you say tacking and jibing with a wing is easier than with a kite?

Hey Damien, may i ask what size of Super K you'd recommend for a 88kg/ 194 lbs intermediate / advanced rider (one board quiver, not only lightwind, but i like small foils).
@DamienLeroyYouTube
@DamienLeroyYouTube 3 ай бұрын
I would recommend the 80 or 92L Super K depending on the board you are currently riding: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/kt-super-k?_pos=1&_psq=super+k&_ss=e&_v=1.0

I found the heelside much easier to start with. And know many people for which it was the case as well. So I would say, attempt on both sides to make your own mind which side feels better. That way you are not led into the idea that toe side is the easiest for everyone
