Walking away is a skill that takes practice. I walked away from two relationships in the past year. With the last woman I made a written pros / cons list on my computer and updated it monthly. As the ‘cons’ side of the list grew longer than the ‘pros’ side (removing false assumptions and adding new data) my decision became clear. I still miss both women but my intellect knows I did what was necessary. Freeing up space for someone more compatible is the essential skill we men learn over time. I suspect for women it’s instinctual and they move on faster, but many of us guys struggle with knowing what’s right. A written list really helped.

My boyfriend and I of 7 years broke up 4 months ago. I’ve been non stop on you tube trying to find something that will help me feel better. THIS video was the very thing! I could definitely see that I brought some of these behaviors to the table and that he did too. But there’s a very big difference between us and that is I seemed to be the one way more willing to look at it as what am I contributing or not contributing to this relationship. I felt I credibly frustrated in these past years! Your number one reason hit me like a ton of bricks. Emotionally drained is what I’ve been for years without the verbiage to discribe that. Exhausted for what seemed like no reason. I have not felt that for months now. Thank you so much for this video. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I can definitely relate to this advice, especially when it comes to how hard it is to walk away, even when you see the signs. In the past, I stayed in a relationship far too long because of my fear of abandonment. When I finally left, it felt like I had been orbiting a dying planet, and breaking free flung me into the abyss of space, with no sense of direction or even which way was up. At least with the dead planet, I knew where I stood. But sometimes we have to face that uncertainty in order to eventually find something better. This advice is a great reminder of that.

I had to get out of the relationship all together. We dated 6 months. It took a lot of thought to get out of the relationship as I did not want to cause drama, or hurt feelings. #10 seems to be a big one, as if you can't communicate, then you can't work out several of the others. I admit I was letting the sunk cost fallacy be an excuse as well as avoiding the drama (fight) of a break up, as it became increasingly difficult to ignore that I was happier by myself. It's not that she tried to deflect the discussion, but that it seems that whenever I brought up that I was not happy with some of the things we did, it seemed to immediately become defending myself for not acknowledging all the effort and work she said she was putting in. Directly to #3. There was a point that I no longer believed there was hope, a chance to work together to something better and accepted that this was what our relationship was going to be day after day. I just said I was leaving and left.

I experienced most of these 'signs' but I'm a little dense and put up with it for 30 years. Actually, I just didn't want to get divorced no matter what... and in the end, I'm divorced anyway. Instead of being miserable for so many years, I should have ended it decades ago, but hindsight is 20/20.

One thing though is that if there are major long-term stressors, communication will suffer. When looking at lack of communication, it is worth evaluating stress and what can be done about it. But some people keep themselves stressed in order to have power and you aren't going to fix that.

That sounds incredibly hard. No one should have to feel alone in a relationship. It might help to take a step back and think about what you truly need and deserve. Sometimes, recognizing what isn’t working is the first step toward finding peace and fulfillment, whether that means working through it together or making a tough decision. Stay strong!

Great video! My five year relationship came to an end a month ago. The love of my life chose to leave, and I can't stop thinking about him; I love him so deeply. I've done everything I can to win him back, but nothing seems to work. I'm feeling frustrated and can't imagine my life with anyone else. Despite my efforts to move on, I just can't shake the thoughts of him. I don’t know why I’m sharing this, but I really miss him.

This video helped me a lot, Soul Sucking Loss of Joy is exactly what happens to my ex-girlfriend, I tried everything to make her happy, but all the things I did were not good, and unfortunately she has a lot of trauma from past relationships like cheating, something I would never do with her. It's been two months since she broke up with me, I feel absurdly sad and with a huge guilt, sometimes I miss her immensely, and unfortunately I miss her a lot.

My soon to be ex wife hit almost every one of these. I didn't get married until my 40s and spent most of my early years alone so I'm looking forward to returning to that simpler and drama free life. As I learned in my early relationships, being comfortable on your own requires a strength of character that very few people possess. However it can be used against you if you see it as a weakness. I was surprised the first few times I ended relationships and saw how devastated the women became just out of the fear of being alone. But once again, and perhaps for the last time, to quote Del Shannon...it is time to "Walk Away".

They say broken hearts heal, NO they don`t. When you break a mans heart it will never be the same. 25 year marriage and my wife walked out on me 5 years ago. All she said was she was not happy. I have not been the same sense. I tried dating but can`t commit. Too afraid of getting hurt again. Sex now is just sex, No emotion attached to it. Just a good time and means nothing to me.

That is why it is imperative that you vet somebody for a few years before getting serious. (Yeah that’s right you heard me-a few years) And at the first signs of her going against your values,… You have to call it out and start lobbing off toes IMMEDIATELY.. do not be afraid of the confrontation.. it’s necessary for your pride and manhood. Because If you let her get away with those subtle shit tests, you are headed down Beta Boulevard

Definitely a strong topic today. Thankfully I haven't had a relationship which went down that path (although marrying the daughter of a narcissist had plenty of challenges and nearly ended prematurely). Your analysis seems sound across the board. The point about lack of respect seems especially poignant, as women disrespecting men seems to have risen to the level of a sport on TikTok. These women are (perhaps unwittingly) labeling themselves as unsuitable for a relationship. "Where did all the good men go?" Away from you ma'am! Good job. Praying for you. -- Russ P PS/Snoozing pooches again today. Heading to my daughter's place before more rain comes in to re-install the mower deck I had to partially rebuild this week. Stay beautiful. ;)
@YourWingmam2 ай бұрын
Ah yes, even if someone has a narcissist in the family, they can wreak havoc. There's a thing called "outrage baiting" where content creators intentionally post outrages content to get angry clicks and comments. It often works and makes it look like there are way more narcs out there than there really are. Nonetheless, those folks have some shady values IMHO lol Scratch for the pooches, thank you for your prayers and the compliment, Russ!

Having watched your videos for five years Anna, I think you fixed my relationship issues. I'm over 50 and I've come to realize (with your help) relationships involving sex are too much work and usually end badly. My solution is to separate the two. I only have sex with women who want sex without a relationship. I expected to have to pay for sex but haven't had to yet. I've discovered that if I share my concept with enough women that some of them want the same thing. Most of them want friendships without sex, a few want sex only and some don't want anything to do with me. I have more female friendships than ever without sex being the end game. If a women from either category wants to cross over I drop her. So far one from the friendship side wanted to cross over so I dropped her but after a few months we resumed our friendship. It seems to be working for me.
