----- 202 BC ----- My first test has arrived in the form of Medians. My king has declared that Armenia, our land, shall not bend to the whims of the Greeks, he speaks of wrong doings that have been committed against our people, and encourages pride in our ancestors...... Truth be told, I have never took pride in any of my family, none but myself. My ancestors were nothing but poor farmers, my father nothing more than a conscripted soldier. The only reason I find myself in this unit of Cavalry is because of my own talent, my own hard work. What do I have to gain by being thankful to my ancestors? Whilst our people were taking pride in their heritage, the Medians barely stopped to look for a second before they moved on us. Now the day of battle is upon us. I fear little for my life, my armor is strong, my horse capable, and my drilling firm, but this is my first test. I can train for a life time, but unless I can truly meet a foe in battle, my training means little to nothing. This will be my test. I will not be disgraced this day! ----- Battle against the Medians ----- Mere slingers. We were halted by mere slingers. What great calamity is this? These soldiers should've broken before our charge, and yet we found ourselves locked in combat. I have been told the skirmishers saw the worst of the fighting. Perhaps I should be thankful to the gods who have spared me today, but I can only think of how much more I could've done in battle. These thoughts are unhelpful. It is best to ignore them. We then pursued them into the wilderness and cut them down after the battle. I hear of the great feats of strength the king managed, and I cannot help but feel inspired to match it.(edited) ------ 201 BC The Siege of Payttakaran ------ My role in this siege was minimal. I spent the entire siege sitting out side the walls staring back at the defenders on the walls. We heard the sounds of battle happening on the inside, but the defenders dared not take their eyes off of us. Eventually, the center of the fortress fell, and the defenders soon realized that simply staring at us would mean their own defeat, and surrendered. Our infantry were massacred. I almost wish I had been there with them, I might've performed better with the other cataphracts, but then I remember how fickle the will of the gods can be, and perhaps being absent from that part of the battle might have indeed saved my life. ----- 200 BC the siege of Ganzaga ---- A disaster. I can hardly recall the battle, only that many of my brothers were massacred beneath the walls of that cursed city. The horse archers lost entire regiments of soldiers, and I lost brace of many brothers in arms in this battle. In the end, we did not even stay for long, we merely subjugated them. What's worse, there are rumors that the Seleucids will come to recapture Armenia. I was once eager for battle, but I wouldn't want to fight a Seleucid. ----- 199 BC the Campaign to Caucasia ----- We move toward Colchis, specifically Korais. We will be attacking the the city, my best guess is to gain allies out of the Iberians. I can hope, but I find myself being cautious now. I am a loyal soldier of the king, but I've seen how the favor of the gods can turn on you. Now I am married, and leave behind a wife. To tell the truth, I'd rather be at home with her, protecting that little place of paradise in Armenia, but I trust the king. I trust this will protect us. I must push all these doubts from my mind, and hope we find success. I may sound pessimistic having seen the harrowing sights of war, but in truth, I find much to be optimistic about. Under our king, we have remained undefeated, and I have lived. Should things go to plan, I find little reason Caucasia's campaign should be any different. ----- Garen, Armenian Royal Cataphract -----

Just wanted to mention these kind of videos have inspired a new play through for me on shogun 2 Funnily the idea itself originated from the thought of "can you disband a daimyo" (you can't but you CAN send them into hopeless situations) I haven't decided which clan exactly yet but it'll use one of the clans that starts with a general that's not a family member Essentially that general would be the "protagonist" who's served as his daimyo's closest and most trusted officer for years. The daimyo (in-story) is getting sick and knows the general is a better leader than the proper heir. So adopts them and makes them heir before going off to seek an honorable death in battle before they can die a slow and obscure death from sickness. From their the general mourns his friend then moves on to upholding his legacy I've got 2 ideas on the clan for this so far A different approach to the otomo than the one you took. Essentially the daimyo brought great power to his clan for it to gain great glory and power but knows through it that he has brought great dishonor to his family. So in this case that's why he appoints another family to take over. The general would as such do his best to be honorable in all ways but for one. He would refuse to give up the western practices his lord brought into the clan as that was amongst his last official orders For shimazu (I'll have to check if the 2nd general even works here. I haven't played in a while) the daimyo will always have dreamed of his family taking back the position their family once held, I believe it was either emperor or shogun. Either way in this one the general would essentially be paving the way for the young shimazu son to claim that position Just an idea I had, and of course if someone who's actually good enough at this stuff to post it on KZbin wants to do it then go ahead. I won't be posting it myself. I am not tech savvy at all tbh. It'll just be something to keep me interested in my own play through

Very nice to see you doing more narrative campaigns. Thank you for your hard work ! :) As a sidenote, I think there are errors in your "music featured" list : some of the musics you used can be heard in Might and Magic Heroes V and MaM Heroes VI, for example the Stronghold theme from MaM Heroes VI. Also some tracks you used are from Endless Legend (most notably the Drakken theme at the end of the video, if I'm not mistaken).

@OfficiallyDevin6 жыл бұрын
You can change battle difficult mid-campaign, the campaign difficulty level doesn't matter much, just makes the AI aggressive and stops them getting rebellions, which I quite like.
@SatCollinz6 жыл бұрын
no no no. during the 1st battle you said something along the lines of setting the dif levl on hard- or very hard, I don't remember which now- affected the game play for the ancient empires mod. but whatever. @jamestang12276 жыл бұрын
OK
@OfficiallyDevin6 жыл бұрын
Well the only reason is that this mod won the vote for an NLP, and DeI did poorly in recent votes. Personally I would have preferred DeI since this challenge run would actually be easier! But it's also true that this mod does have more potential than DeI since it can use attila's handful of extra features, and the graphics are slightly better.

I'm not sure if this is possible but wouldn't it be awesome to have another player who can try to represent other factions tactics and commander traits in battles to make at least the big battles more interesting to play and to watch? So basically to make a head to head campaign where your opponent role-plays a lot of if not all enemy factions.
@daevious_6 жыл бұрын
He's mentioned in the past that he'd like to do a Co-Op narrative let's play (and that Massalia Tales was originally supposed to be this Co-Op NLP), but organising a time for two people to record together is prohibitively difficult, especially when it comes to releasing episodes in an orderly fashion.
@5000dragonkill6 жыл бұрын
@@daevious_ that would be cool as well but I don't think you would have those problems with the idea I just wrote since you're not really limited by the other person since that person doesn't have to record or edit or anything like that, that person only has to play like once or twice a week on a pre-arranged time and role-play the AI (or his own) armies in a semi-historical fashion to make it more fun and interesting to watch... Anything more than that (for example if said person could do some voice acting or recording to get another perspective or whatever) would just be a bonus. I'm sure there are people willing to play this role, I would at least.
@someguy92934 жыл бұрын
