Winter Clothing - Winter Storm Uri Tested

I thought I would share my thoughts about these 3 articles of clothing that I used during the Feb. 14th 2021 winter storm Uri.
Clothing:
US. Military Issue Fleece Jacket, Black, Polartec Classic 300 by NCED Size XL. NSN # 8415-01-461-8356
Socks:
#1) 281Z Military Warm 8 inch Boot Liner Socks - Outdoor Tactical Hiking Sport - Polartec Fleece Winter Socks (Green Khaki)
#2) Realtree® Men's Merino Wool Heavyweight Crew Sock (Taupe, Size XL) (Walmart # 574329024)

You got that right James, that's when I got these 😉 I also watch for the Hot Hands in the close out areas too 🤪 LOL My local China Mart just put out a big display, so it won't be long for them to go on close out 🤪 LOL

Great review Ray. I discovered Realtree on my trip to Colorado a couple of years back. Bought some of their gear on that trip. That shirt looked the business and did the job. Like what you did with the zippers; reduces the strain points. Thanks for sharing. ATB Mark.

Thanks Mark 👍 I like these 'Realtree' socks, they have held up really well to the wear and tear I've put them through 😉 I was really surprised that the shirt worked so well 😳, sometimes military surplus doesn't workout so well 🤪 LOL I learned that zipper trick back in the 80's from a 'Marlboro Adventure Team' jacket I got and have been using it on my jackets ever since 👍 Thanks for stopping by, have a good one Mark 😉

I got the zipper idea from one of my Marlboro jackets long ago and have been using it ever since 🤪 LOL I just added the heat shrink into the mix to stiffen it up to make it easier to grab 😉 That shirt is one of the best thing I got of the group, I love that thing 👍 I found a fleece stand alone hood I had stashed away I'm going to put with it 😉 Take Care my Friend and Stay Safe up there 👍

We get 30 degrees celsius, and will have a bad weather spell in three days. So telling me about the ways to keep my sorry butt warm might come in handy if it gets unexpectedly cold. I trust nothing about seasons or weather any more;-) Good to hear about those items ;-) Stay safe!

Here's a question for you - does anyone ever get confused when talking about toboggans? As in, toboggans the hat, or toboggans the snow sled?

Not really Ra. Some areas of the US don't get snow but it does get cold so there are no toboggan sleds. So no confusion there 😉 The areas that do get snow, they tend to use other names for toboggans or if they do use the word toboggan the other words around it will let you know which one they are talking about, the sled or the hat 😉 I'm sure you've got words like that down there too 🤪 LOL
