Winter’s “Over;” Lexus LS430 Into Storage

Although it seems like winter never ends this far north, spring is allegedly around the corner. That means it is time to put our winter driver, the 2001 Lexus LS430, into storage. It's been a, thankfully, uneventful chilly time!

I did my radiator at the same time I did water pump/timing belt. Total cost 💲 1,250 LS 460 doesn’t hold a 🕯️ to the LS 430😅

I'm confused. Why put the family truckster away for the summer? why not drive both? Also, how do you get rust? I have heard it is from road salt. Don't you hose off the car after driving in road salt?

It needs new metal around those rear wheel wells. A proper body job and quality paint would probably be around eight grand. It's obvious that you just drive it and fix it when something goes wrong. The car should be washed, oil and filter changed, battery tender put on, and possibly an oil under spray done to prevent even more rust happening underneath. The Lexus is bullet proof, however, you must maintain it with quality parts, Toyota parts if possible. Then it will last another 20 years. I know you like cars, but with car ownership comes the responsibility to maintain them and keep them running and rust free. A rusty car will fold like an accordion in a crash, and I know you have some kids too. Perhaps you should look into leasing something new and then turn it back in when the warranty is up. This way, there would be very little maintenance for you, and you could just drive it.
