Ive been training for 2.5 years, first year I went from 58kg (~130lbs) to 76kg (~170lbs) and in the other 1.5 years ive been swinging between 80kg-88kg (175-195lbs). Honsetly, putting on 40lbs in ur first year of training if u start of skinny is not that unusual if u eat a lot and train hard

I think it's quite possible from the level of condition and muscle, Sam can get a pro card within a few competitions. It all depends on his shape, aesthetic and symmetry standing next to some of the smaller waisted freaks in the npc. All the best to this kid. Hard not to respect his commitment.

For Sam, he finds that perhaps walking on a slightly inclined treadmill is less muscle fatigue while having not too much joint fatigue, whereas his stationary bicycle LISS work is a little more fatigue to his quads while perhaps being less impact on his joints; therefore, he finds he gets better Leg days in the gym if he uses walking as "cardio" those days, but the bike is better for him on other lifting days. What works for you? Maybe the same, maybe different, either way, experiment and see how you feel and observe how it affects your numbers in the gym.
