The tamarillos are doing brilliantly George ! As well as cloning I can see 2 other huge advantages of grafting. 1) for people not fortunate to have a garden your size, it would be possible to have more than one variety on a single trunk and 2) if you have an established tree in your garden ( such as your fig or loquat ) if you grafted a new variety to it you would get fruit the next season instead of having to wait 4 or 5 years for production from a newly purchased tree or rooted cutting 👍, regards, Brett

Oh and of course in the case of a rare or difficult to grow fruit variety, it can be put onto a tougher ( or perhaps dwarfing ) compatible rootstock 👍

Hey should I prune the tamarillo branches when young to make tree brunch out or leave it

I left mine alone when young. Pruned them after fruiting.
