Man that brings back fun memories from back in the day . we had a pretty good course set up in the 5 acres we lived on and I had a 1979 yz 250 , my neighbor had a new 1985 yz125 , I bought my little bro an exceptionally strong running 1982 yz 80 , my older bro had a 1977 rm 250 , and another guy up the street had a 79 yz 400 . we had a wide ditch that ended up creating a really high flying jump that would catapult us way high in the air if you hit it in 3rd gear on the throttle . The first time I flew , I was freaking out and then it became addictive . nobody else would hit that jump like I would , I wanted as much air as I could get . we used to line up and race for 10 laps , none of us were experienced racers , just doing it for fun . I loved watching you take your time and then just letting em hang and showing them how it's done , makes me miss my bike !

There's no comparison between a CR and a CRF. I had a 1985 atc250r when a friend of mine bought a trx450 in 2005. It pissed him off to no end that my twenty-year-old stock ride could outperform him on any surface start to finish. I thought it was hilarious!

A CR500 is a uniquely different animal that has it’s own unique character compared to any other bike I have ever owned! Just when you think you have mastered it, it will sit you on your arse just as quick to show you who is boss! You will never tame it or fully control it as it will always be the ‘boss’ of you! Just starting the beast takes balls and determination and once you start it, people come from all around, drawn by the unique sound of the ‘King of Ping!’ No wonder they keep going up in value as they will never build a bike like this again!
