You could try modifying the new connector. Just cut off the end that is not in use (A, B and C). That end is for the cornering lamps for the 1980 - 1982 cars and are not used on most C3s. Then you cut the rest of the connector in half between J and H ( I think). The two halves seems to line up except for the gap roughly at the middle of the original connector. Cut it in half and trim the ends and see if it will fit. The connector that you have now is for the 1977 and up cars I believe. And as far as I know they only make those connectors now. If you want another original plug you would have to look for a used turn signal switch.

@@janthom91 Appreciate the ideas and info. I thought about cutting it in two pieces, but I also just ordered a 12-pin connector that I can wire up and use instead of these older ones. So frustrating to have to deal with this stuff, but it is what it is…

Maybe use the old connector, pin it out and use with the new cable?

@ thanks for the tip and info. I have seen them online. This is a standard column. I don’t mind it being basic. Appreciate the comments.

Don't carve up the wiring. Those connectors are all the same from about 70 to late 80's for GM. Go to a scrap yard.

@@noccis3448 I’m installing a newer 12-pin connector. It’ll work better than the old GM stuff and give me more wire to work with.
