I live a mile from Steve at Wired and have had the opportunity to ride the Predator as well as an earlier AWD prototype based on the KT controller back in January, aka e cells monster with 4000 watts. The predator is a blast to ride and actually pretty safe. You keep it in rear wheel and switch to AWD on the fly for Turbo boost. When you pedal, the bike switches to rear wheel drive automatically to prevent accidents. The KT prototype was a nightmare and not able to be refined because of the ancient and obsolete KT controllers vs the fully customizable Wired branded controller. I would think they will have a non wheel spin mode in the production models. In terms of top speed, you are limited by the max RPM of the geared hub motor which is about 45mph with a normal sized human. To get faster top speeds, you would need an even bigger geared hub motor designed for high speed or a direct drive motor. A 60v AWD is overkill (AWD are popular because you can get great performance from a 48 or 52v system) but I think Wired developed this bike to beat Citizen’s Cycle AWD, and to send a serious FY to E Cells. Btw, with the weight of the motor in the front wheel, there is no problem with wobble. The Predator is an acceleration beast and can climb any mountain. Does anyone really need the power of a 911 GTS or Tesla Plaid? At $3.5k the Predator will be a niche offering but the undisputed king of acceleration and hill climbing.

thanks for the info and a bit of a comparison. I can't lie, that Fabulous Warriar might look a little better. Especially in that blue. ... What are your thoughts on a Fabulous 24" warrior type bike. I think the have the same blue option, but with 24" wheels instead of 26". It may be called Route 66 or something like that. thanks!
@RydinNStyle2 ай бұрын
@electrified314 that would be a better fit for a lot of riders who fall between the EMX (20") and the Road Warrior (26"). I think 24" tires is the sweet spot. And the dual motors with a torque sensor is the golden ticket.
@gregb8782 ай бұрын
The wired predator is programmed not to exceed 45 mph under any settings. It would definitely be capable of more but let's be real I might go 45 mph once just to see what it's like. Also the shipping is $275. We ordered two of these over the weekend. We were leaning toward the Furious but once we saw this we knew this was the one. We figured with the added weight and upgraded for the wobble would be eliminated as well. They released around 100 predator bikes. :)

Hey man. I'm in the market for one of these. Is the predator worth the extra cash? Cuz it's a lot for just the front motor.
@RydinNStyleАй бұрын
@Pidgeys it's more for torque with better hill climbing capability versus a much higher top speed. Whether single or dual motors, it's still limited to 60v. I bought a Currie Electric Bike in 1998. 21 speed derailer. It is basically a Schwinn Bike with a Brushless Motor on the back. 18 MPH top-speed. It uses a 24 volt AGM battery pack. I used to ride with a Bike group and they ridiculed me and called me a Pussy for riding an electric Bike. They said I could no longer ride with them. Even riding around by myself, People would yell at me with foul comments. So the Bike went up in the attic for over 20 years. Times have really changed! Now, nobody that I know is calling any EV Bike Rider a "Pussy" or worse. My confusion is when does it become an Electric Motorcycle? I really like to Pedal a Bike and use the Motor only for hill assist. A Bike that weighs 150 pounds seem like Pedals should be eliminated. My old 1998 E-Bike, the Battery weighed 17.5 pounds. I just bought LIFEPO4 replacements and the pack is now under 8 pounds. Need to get a LIFEPO4 Charger and test it out. I do love this AWD Predator, however. Appreciate your great review.

I just wish they would upgrade that rear battery to 40ah. It would bring the full speed range from 30 miles up to 55 which would greatly increase the travel capability even replacing your car for most situations. I could go to any gym or the beach no problem with that.
