Great video. I don’t want to come across as a keyboard warrior but I got a power tune and EGR delete on my D3 TDI. Runs clean no soot and fuel economy is awesome. Town 9.2lt per 100ks. I thought about a CC but it wouldn’t sort out the soot carbon issue. PS I service it every 5-7k no more. Best 4x4 ever. Your an awesome bloke for showing how to videos. Thanks again.

Morning correct it won't stop sooting which is either under boosting , over fueling that's a tuning issue or blocked intake , split intercooler or boost leak It will however keep oil out of your intake making it alot easier for carbon to pass through the engine rather then clinging onto components on its way through clogging up inlets and blocking up the map sensor Which can also lead to excessive soot under acceleration and lack of power if left long enough a catch can is more of a way of preventative maintenance if installed from new however if the clogging is already there then it's not really doing anything After pulling plenty of intakes apart with and without catch cans the difference is night and day it's unfortunate that most OEM'S Don't warrant a catch can being installed

@@OUTBACKDiscovery I agree. I do notice I have a small amount of oil in my turbo boost pipe from time to time and just wipe it out. They should have CC in new vehicles but probably don’t see the need as they now have DPF’s which is just another hassle. 😂. Again great video’s I really appreciate the work you put into your channel big fan. Great cars.

You might want to put a securing bracket on the main body of the Catch can. Fatigue in the aluminium bracket might cause you problems down the line as there is too much movement. Hope this is informative. We can't get them here in the UK.

Good advice there mate will definetly look into it once the new workshop is done 🍻🍻

Would of preffered the provent on mine as its easier to drain and I like the filter but it was to tall unfortunately How much oil are you catching each service

Rivnuts are awesome. Hey Ryan you wont happen to know of any small effective catch cans that I could use for the brake vacuum line would you?
@OUTBACKDiscovery2 жыл бұрын
Love thread inserts feels alot better quality when you use them Good idea with the vaccuume pump catch can I'm not sure of any small enough to be placed in a decent area on that side Maybe make you own out of some steel mesh inside a small cannister that you could get your hands on or possibly maybe a inline gaws filter could work

Hey Shane I used a small aluminium eBay special, it worked perfect also attached the quick connects from the old vac piping it worked perfect, ended up putting a new vac pump on (shit job but not as bad as it looks

Morning Chris yeah I just need more time to edit them, as there's alot more footage to compress which my computer used to end up blue screening when I worked on them haha Picked up a new pc now, and started working on part 3 of the engine build yesterday renders and edit like 15 times faster then my old computer so you should see the engine series start up again early next week

Hi Ryan , neat install, how do you drain the captured oil , does it have a drain hose or do you remove the whole unit?
@OUTBACKDiscovery2 жыл бұрын
Hey Stephen I use my brake bleeder to suck it out but it unscrews so you can poor it out Thats one thing that provent have that's better then this unit They run a hose and tap at the bottom but it was to bug to fit nicely in my engine bay
