So my opinion might be skewed from personally being scared of being left behind by friends once they find a relationship (says hi to being aromantic), so I generally don't like the whole "you're friends are 0 compared to your lover". But Lee was just... not even trying. Like, to me it sounds important to find a balance somewhere, where you don't just completely forget your friends, but where you also take care of your partner, and to listen if one has a problem about something. Rachel said repeatedly that she wasn't good with Lee always letting her to the side for Elle. He never did shit about it, like dude, even I find that to be fucking shitty, why are you going out with her if you're just gonna stood her up every time?!? If you get in a relationship, at least try to seem like you care about what your girlfriend is saying.

I can see both sides. On one hand, Rachel telling Lee that she didn't want Elle around them anymore made her seem like an entitled brat, especially when you look at the way she treated Elle later in the film. Bear in mind that Lee's friendship with Elle was completely platonic, and Elle had no intentions of ever sabotaging his relationship. I think Rachel could have learned to lighten up a bit and be more accepting of his friendship with Elle. On the other hand, Lee not communicating to Rachel about simple things like that he was hanging out with Elle or that he changed his Halloween costume made him seem like a selfish prick. Obviously it's fine to hang out with your best friend, but if you completely change or cancel plans that you had with your partner in order to do so, and you don't tell your partner that you did, then that's pretty messed up. I think my main gripe with Rachel's story arc in this movie is that she had no character development or story relevance at all in the first movie. And then Netflix acted like she was a character we were supposed to suddenly care about, even though we didn't know a single thing about her. If they had fleshed out her character more and gave her more of a personality than "Lee's girlfriend" in the first movie, then I think I would have had an easier time sympathizing with her in this movie.

Her communication skills are on point, she never intentionally targeted Elle (often it's portrayed that the girlfriend will go after the female best friend without being provoked), and she just generally was so sweet and logical.

He's focusing all of his time on Ellie, while ignoring Rachel at every opportunity. I don’t like how the author treats Rachel’s character in this series and I really don’t like the high school romance trope of “their needs to be a “secondary” “plain” girl that’s around just enough to make the “extraordinary” “main” girl look “better” but she’s not a loud to be a full character or anything”. Because why can’t Rachel, Chloe, and Ell be equal as characters? Why does Ell have to be “way more important” and why does there have to be anything weird between the three main women in this story? No Cindy, you're not too chill on interpersonal relationships, it's just extreme cisheteronormative conditioning in action. Humans are supposed to be able to have completely unique relationships with everyone they seek the companionship of. It's all just a matter of starting with strong communicative skills and establishing boundaries. Love exists independently of things like sex, gender and societal standards. "Love is love" means that the connection two people have to one another is just as valuable as any other connections formed between other people. You're very right. But on the other hand, sadly way too many people cheat. It's shitty but almost every person I know has been cheated on, gay or straight. And usually with the 'don't worry about this person' friend. Being jealous doesn't help anything because if that person wants to cheat, you being possessive isn't gonna stop them, it's only gonna make things worse for you. The answer is to just let the person go but it's difficult to know when your suspicions are right or not. Communication won't solve it because they won't admit anything. Relationships kinda suck, man.
