This song makes me cry everytime I hear it. A young Anneke was an inspiration to a lot of female lead singers believing that they could sing metal and succeed. Including Floor from Nightwish.

With Sharon it is like with Floor Jansen she is better live then on studio albums. Another thing most people do not realize was that Sharon had heavy case of the flue and was in bed with high fever until a day before the concert. They were talking about scraping the whole show but Sharon said lets just wait and see how i feel tomorrow. Anneke (AH-nuh-ka) as others have mentioned is one of the OGs (Original Goddesses) of female metal singers, and personally one of my favorite vocalists. For a short but awesome song featuring Anneke, Floor Jansen (Nightwish) and Marcella Bovio (MaYan), check out Ayreon's "Valley of the Queens". Really hard to go wrong with songs by any of these ladies!

You veered into some interesting waters lately, with your reactions. Seems like you prefer songs with more of an emotional impact. May I suggest a few you might enjoy, not ever necessarily as a reaction. First is another duet with Anneke - "Ih-Ah", from Devin Townsend Project. It's an understated number for two powerhouse singers that I think may be in your sweet spot. If you like that combination, there is also "Grace", again from DTP - much less subtle, but still packed with emotion, almost a metal gospel. Another suggestion would be to circle back to Nightwish - "Poet and Pendulum", the live version from Wembley. I hear people have had problems getting their reactions to this particular song to stay up, so perhaps you just enjoy on your own, but it is sooo worth it. Don't do any research about its backstory before the first listen, take it as it comes. If you like the sweet combination of high female vocals, like in this video, then consider the ultimate combo - "Valley of the Queens" Ayreon, with Anneke, Floor from Nightwish, and Marcela Bovio, another amazing vocalist. Finally, for another killer duet from Within Temptation, check out Paradise, with Nightwish's original vocalist Tarja Turunen. A hell of a punch.
