Hey everyone! I’m deleting comments that accuse me of being mean to Christians. This video is about the IBLP which is a cult. The group is toxic and dangerous to women and children. If you are a Christian that doesn’t follow the IBLP, this video isn’t about your church. I expose cults & the IBLP is one of the most dangerous ones out there, in my opinion. Thanks! Katie

As a born again believer who grew up related to this cult, I have to say that what you are saying in this video is 1000% correct. What makes it so insidious is that the IBLP mixes some truth with much heresy thereby deceiving many.

As a Christian, THANK YOU for calling out False doctrine! It is NO different than Jill calling it out, herself! It takes people like you to finally rid the world of the cults who (like Scientology) would hide behind The Cross to avoid being exposed. Everyone wants to take a bow for the fall of these cults..but no one seems to want to do the real work of standing up to these people..calling them out wherever they me be. Thank you for doing this!

How are they not in the least bit not even responsible for breaking any child labor laws for all those years is what I want to know if none of those kids were paid at the time for being on the show? Like how does that happen and I bet they filmed a bunch, I recall them all doing manual labor a bunch on their house too in some of the episodes and they weren't paid for that either 🤔 It seems as if TLC employed them all they should have been more responsible for them being compensated just like any other employer/employee relationship. The film industry is it's own beast I suppose though.

Where was Michelle's family? How could they not only sign off on her marriage but then allow her to remain in that situation. My ex was verbally abusive, my Father who never raised his voice grabbed my ex one day and slammed him against a wall and said "this is MY daughter you are talking to. Straighten up or we will give her the option to leave with us today."

If I remember correctly from one of their books, the reason she was allowed to marry him at 17 was because her father's job was moving the family from Arkansas to Ohio. With the majority of her siblings grown and living their own lives, and her parents several states away, they probably didn't see the problems until it was too late. So sad really, she never stood a chance.

Seriously as problematic as Derick has been at times, it takes a hell of a husband to support a wife through this deep level of trauma and dysfunction. The fear of abandonment she must deal with on a daily basis is something I’m familiar with. Love is transactional in families like this and the most effective punishment they use is to take away all comfort and affection from the kids in order to get them to fall in line. Having a husband demonstrate what is needed to create an environment for healing says a lot about Derick and the kind of support he’s been for her. Look, he has had plenty of crappy things he’s done but he is ten times the husband of most of these other losers in the family. Love him or hate him the proof of the pudding is in the tasting and Jill has come so far with the love and support of a husband doing the necessary things to be there for her. Let’s hope they both keep growing and come to a better place and eventually find real happiness and peace. There is no pain like the pain of two parents who’ve caused so much pain.

I don't think Derick is as problematic as he was made out to be, either. More likely a way to get out from JB's clutches for his family, and blamed for leaving. Michelle reminds me of my grandmother. She was such a codependent enabler. My grandmother never had any real power, but she wanted all her kids together. There were so many problems and the only way she knew to fix them was to ignore all the issues. What pisses me off is that they laid all this on Quiverful and God, when she deliberately circumvented God's design for family planning by prematurely weaning her six month old infants (The WHO states at *least* until age two; be salty at them, artificial feeders, I'm just the messenger) in order to ovulate and get pregnant again, the back to back endless pregnancies are no more inherent to God's design than the Octomom. (Actual Quiverful moms I've known in playgroup are spacing their 4-7 kids by term breastfeeding - it is sometimes possible to ovulate and get pregnant while nursing- it happened to me- but it is more usual for periods to hold off for a year or two). Don't lay your excessive brood at God's hands, Ofjim. This was your doing.

Right before everything blew up with Josh, my husband called all of this about Jim Bob. He had never even seen an episode at that point. While I was watching an episode one night, afterwards he looked at me and said, “This dad is a complete narcissist and I can guarantee you that he is horrible whenever the camera cuts. You can see it in his eyes and face. He’s got MAJOR anger issues. I guarantee you he does nothing but SCREAMS at his kids, is never around and delves out corporal punishment like it’s candy.” I, of course was saying no, I don’t think so, they’re a good Christian family, etc (like most of us, right?), and that’s whenever he looked at me and said, “you just wait and see, there’s something *very* wrong with this family. They’re trying to cover something up…there’s some skeletons somewhere and it’s all going to BLOW UP and be huge.” Not even 2 weeks later, it did just that. It's fortunate he just belongs to a more mainstream denomination and his beliefs aren't as insane as Jim Bob's, but sadly I don't think she has the same freedom Jill has. She and her husband still seem to strictly follow one church and community whereas Jill and Derrick seem to be on their own faith journey.

I love that Jill is doing this on her own terms. She shouldn't have to talk about her trauma, she should only speak about what SHE wants to talk about. As for Michelle, I've been in similar shoes. The difference is, when I realized my kids were being affected by my abusive relationship, I took them away from it. It was difficult, but it was the best thing for all of us.

I have always felt that Michelle was being treated like a piece of property. Can you imagine, having a baby or a set of twins, and then a few months later having your husband not care how much pain you have suffered, or how tired you are, and insists on knocking you up again? Year after year. Day in and day out. I cannot imagine how tortured she is mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She is brainwashed into believing that this is what God wants and any thoughts of leaving or improving her situation would be disgusting in God's eyes. She is beaten down. I'm sure she does have regrets about some parenting choices, but she is a victim. She needs to he extracted from the cult. Side note: how the Hell does TLC get away with doing a reality show with the adult children and not pay them? They knew they were paying this abusive man and that he wasn't paying anyone within the family. Im sorry but even children on these shows should be paid via a trust and it shouldn't be up to the parents, it should be the production company. To find out it was adults who were the central players on the show and not getting paid? Thats despicable. Shame on TLC
@megc1981
@megc1981 Жыл бұрын
For adults if the adult children ok the pay going through Jim Bob it’s legal. For minors AK doesn’t have Coogan account laws (only NY and CA do to my knowledge) requiring it be paid to trusts so it’s not required. As the parents it was legally their call how the pay was handled. There is a Loooong history of child actors being screwed out of money by their parents. Including Shirley Temple her Dad spent most of what she made and she ended up with very little of her income left when she came of age. Plenty of modern instances too Drew Barrymore for example Cohan account laws require only 15% be put in trust so that leaves a lot for an unethical parent to take

It is easy to say she should leave with her children, but if one person makes all of the money and holds everything in his name, then he can hire the best lawyers and get at least partial custody without supervision. Child support is never enough. There is also a real fear that your children will turn against you bc everyone in their lives has been brainwashed and will tell them they need to separate from you and treat you like an infidel. So it has been established that Michelle was in an abusive relationship and she realized it. She knew she did not have a voice. I feel for her, BUT she encouraged her daughters to follow the same path. I remember one of the couples engagement announcement and Michelle was with the other mom. Her immediate comment was regarding grandbabies. If I were that mom I would have shut her down. Let them have the time to really know each other. Enjoy just being a couple without the stresses of parenthood.

I will never understand how they got away with NOT paying the kids…I thought there was a law to protect children in the TV/FILM industry. I remember something about Jackie Coogan.. A law was put in place due to what his parents did to him. TLC had another popular show that too became a dumpster fire … Jon and Kate plus 8.. they were very vocal about the money they were paid was also being divided up and set aside for the kids.

The fact that they are on a reality show plays into it. They are not considered actors.

It’s always been pretty obvious to me that Michelle Duggar is in an abusive relationship. Very sad situation. I wish some of her boys would see the light and stand up to JB for her!!!

I always go back to how uncomfortable Jill & Jim Bob seemed towards each other on her wedding day, both when he came in to the bride's room to see her gown and when he was about to walk her down the aisle. I sensed a lack of closeness and tension between them. It wasn't the way a father & daughter would behave that were really close.

For what it’s worth, I am a single woman, and I met the Duggars (by myself) at a book signing in 2013 and Jim Bob not only acknowledged me but shook my hand, looked me in the eye, and thanked me graciously. (I now want to cut my hand off after what I know about him, but oh well.) Jill was very friendly, and Anna struck up a conversation with me. All of the others basically avoided eye contact because they were so shy. I felt bad they were forced into these public appearances when they were clearly not wanting to be there. Even all the littles were there.

Hey Katie, excellent video as always! I'm not sure if you've covered this before, but a big reason Jim Bob and the IBLP say no therapy, no prescription drugs for mental health, is because that would be dragging an objective person into the family who's not in the cult. The men know that influence of that kind could quickly crumble all of their abusive control and manipulation tactics, not to mention end up with social services being called for an array of tactics they use. P.S. It's so crazy to see so many happy pictures of the duggars smiling and being so fake while you dismantle their lies. I think that's where some people got the impression you were a fan like you mentioned a couple videos back. I also thought you were a fan back when I first started watching you years ago before Josh's downfall, but there's no making that mistake now!

Living in that house with JB must be like walking on egg shells, broken glass, and hot coals all at the same time! With Michelle being JB’s wife along with having a baby every year would put Michelle in a frame of mind where she must have been depressed all the time non-stop 24/7 - 365 for that last 35 friggin years! All that would have lasted one second with me and he’d be thrown right under the bus! I feel bad for Michelle because she’s so indoctrinated and brainwashed and doesn’t even know it…she’s had to go along with JB & the IBLP without knowing any better…she got sucked in so love really was blind when she met him so she’s been trapped and a slave for many years. I agree Katie that Michelle was JB’s first victim…it’s very sad.

"Healing isn't linear." Victoria thank you for that and also "where you are isn't your end state". I really needed to hear that I want to say thank you! Victoria you're amazing, you're strong, and you're beautiful. You also have real self-awareness. So many people don't have the depth or willingness to look at themselves close enough to be self aware, and that's another testament to your strength. I think you're amazing and I wish you the absolute best. ❤

Years ago when Jim Bob was a state rep, I was the Physician at the Capitol. I remember meeting Michelle. She was very kind and soft spoken. Jim Bob walked in front of his family as they followed behind like he was the Master. All the kids were dressed alike and paired off. They walked straight in a line, even the little kids. I have seen a few of the older kids showing up at times to work with their reps. This was all prior to Covid

I’m listening to all this info about Michelle and the pregnancies and my body hurts for her! I was thinking about the episode where JB took her to the dr to see if she was in menopause. That made me mad then, but now it just makes me sick! How could he even think of putting her through that when Josie had been premature?! He obviously doesn’t get it or care. I think he physically wanted 20. But he didn’t care at what cost that was. I’m shocked he didn’t go through ivf and try to get one last one.
