When my child was very young my ex was in an out of jail for drinking. One time one of the prison guards said to me this is no place for a child you really shouldn’t be here. That resonated with me & I never went back. I hope Anna sees this & realizes he made his own bed, she doesn’t need to put up with his BS she is the one doing everything & she doesn’t need him and hopefully she gets out of her toxic relationship.

My father was a gang person and for 10 yrs all I did was go to prison to visit him because my mother would say that would be the only time he wouldn't be dangerous to be around. Obviously that's a horrible thought process to have but looking back it breaks me to think a childs only time with a father is in a prison yard. I'm glad you did the right thing for your baby.

I think this whole cell phone violation and his forced separation from contacting Anna may be the best thing to happen to Anna. This time out from his control and constant need for her to be in touch may help her wake up and see how screwed up this situation is and how unhealthy and toxic their relationship has been. She was to busy having them and pushing them out and handing over to her daughters to raise. I am surprised that her daughters don't resent her for taking their childhood away. Her children did all the chores when they were old enough. I never saw Michelle or Jim do anything. Jim is a narcissistic control freak, so scared that he will mess his hair up. Thanks for continuing to give updates on the Duggars. I watched the show for years and as one who also grew up in a cult - seeing some of the kids breaking away from it and hopefully Anna will too. Seeing justice served out on Josh is such a relief. The man in the cult that I grew up in -that “liked” little girls -was never held accountable for what he did to little girls like myself. This allowed him to continue harming children. I doubt he's read any of the marriage books she's sent him just because he doesn't see himself as the problem. Plus the fact that the books will only help if they are BOTH willing to work on the marriage. But, they also can't work on it when they aren't allowed to see each other. I can understand why she wants to work on her marriage because churches as a whole don't always look kindly to divorce, but this is a valid reason to seek a divorce. I watched the wedding episode years ago and her father specifically said she used to belong to him and now she will belong to Josh. I can understand why so many people are frustrated with her, but she was raised in a family where the expectation was that you belong to the man in your life. @Annette Stoudt Anna’s parents live in Florida. Her Dad is in prison ministry and doesn’t earn hardly anything at all. Her mother doesn’t work outside of the house. Her parents raised a lot of kids in a tiny 3 bedroom, trailer house. Anna’s parents consider the Duggars as IBLP “royalty” and were thrilled Anna married Josh. Of course, Jim Blob and Anna’s Dad arranged the marriage. Anna always has to go visit her parents in Florida because her parents can’t afford to travel to Arkansas. Anna has an older sister out of the IBLP cult and offered to take in Anna and the 7 M’s if she’d leave Josh. This was either after Josh was arrested or after he was convicted. Her older sister said she’d support Anna and kids until she could figure out her life. After the Ashley Madison scandal broke, an older brother out of the cult (at the time) offered to take in Anna and the 3 or 4 she had at the time and support her until she could support herself. This brother is now back into the cult. Anna refused the help offered by her one older sister and the older brother.

You have been working hard to illustrate and verbalize the impact of fundamental religious faith on the Duggars and the Browns. Their interpretation has had a very negative impact on the life of their family. Narcissism is a common trait in Jim Bob, Josh, and Kody. We are watching the ongoing painful results of their narcissism on the mothers of their children and their children, and the pain it brings. Many of us have also been following the effects of narcissism in the Murdaugh family and the results of Alex Murdaugh's anger because family members questioned his behaviors, emphasizing his true imperfections. Anna and Michelle should step away. They have tried in their own ways to be supportive. The best thing to do now is let him--not them--feel the deep effects of HIS crimes. When JB and Michelle did not seek treatment for Josh nearly 20 years ago, his thought processes and behavior degenerated further. Now it cannot be glossed over and erased from his record.

You know, awhile back it was mentioned that Anna was praying about all of this regarding Josh and what to do moving forward. If after finding out about all that Josh has done and is also now saying about her behind bars isn’t a sign to leave his sorry behind, idk what is! I feel for her for being so brainwashed from the cult, because it is going to keep her and her kids in a life of misery stemming from the actions of her husband who took EVERYTHING away from them. That in itself should be her wake up call but I’m afraid she’s going to continue the cycle and stay with this monster. Her own father I believe was somewhat narcissistic and very domineering (per what was shown and spoke of on the show). Her mother barely ever spoke whenever interviewed on the show, so it’s also a very sad generational issue that Anna is allowing to continue with her own family with Josh. This is his firstborn son, he will never admit that he’s guilty but I think that he knows he’s guilty. With no visiting or communication for 6 months hopefully it will be enough for her to start to see the truth. Josh isn’t the only control over her though so it may do no good at all for her.

There is no way children should be allowed to visit in that prison. It’s too risky. And if Josh can’t even have a picture of his children, how is he allowed to hold his baby on his lap for hours at a time when they visit him? It’s disgusting! If Anna feels the need to keep visiting him, fine. But those children should have the right to live free from the man I am sure was also abusing them. Why aren’t their rights being protected?

Beverly Peace, I also went back to school when my children were young and while working a full time job. However, my wonderful husband help to make this possible. I'm afraid in Anna's situation, Jim Bob especially would not want her to better herself. Would she have help with child care? Remember homeschooling and on call 24/7 as a mom of 7. With a good support system, yes. For her, probably roadblocks all the way. Sad.

Anna sending Josh money and books early on could have been a coping function for her and not do much for Joshes benefit. It was all she could do to cope with the loss and absence. Pulling back on supporting him seems like a natural progression of her ability to cope and accept the reality that he is away, on his own journey, leaving her to find her own journey. She can build a better life for herself and her kids, Josh isn’t there to stand in her way. She will see that in time.

Yes, you can keep your mail to a certain degree. They sometimes limit the amount for fire safety measures. They can't let you keep and hoard everything for your whole time. Usually all your belongings must be able to be packed up quickly and into a footlocker or they will make you throw it away (send it home if you got a nice guard). You have to pay to send them home anything you really want to keep past that amount. It all depends on the CO, the day & their mood honestly.
