Driver set up is so important for every drive. When I get a little rushed or kind of lackadaisical in my setup, I cut the ball right or pull it left. I'm going to take your setup tips to heart and be more careful in my setup, Joe in NW. PA

Very thorough explanation of driver set-up. I can see clearly why I can't hit driver past 210. Hopefully that will change. Thanks Arte.

He is being modest. He hits it much longer than 275! Great info, Wizard!

To show how it's done you have to demonstrate a swing.

Great vid, never really seen the setup laid out quite like this. Especially the distance from ball section. I'm very interested to know how different this is to setting up for short/mid/iron. What angle to ground would arms be when standing up if driver is about 90?
@Artemago23 күн бұрын
Similar concept for irons. Shorter irons, lower arms, ball closer to you, more accuracy. If arms are at or near 90 degrees at setup, then the angle they make with the ground at address will be equal to the angle of spine from vertical.

Also, last question. If Driver is somewhat ulnar deviation to get clubhead away, what club(s) if any start to have more of a radial deviation at address?

This is a difficult question to answer as the hands move oppositely to each other.

I have also heard some instructors say that when you extend your arms, your grip should be vertically in line with the balls of your feet. Could you explain that contradiction? Thanks

There are certainly multiple ways to setup and address the golf ball. What I am sharing with you here is merely my way of conceptualizing the golf swing. To generate power I aim to utilize a long lever. And that lever will be at its longest when my arms are extended, and with the driver, that would put them past my feet. But when chipping or pitching or approaching, my arms will be less extended making a smaller angle with my torso, and the hands may very well be close to vertical with the feet.
