I used to watch this in the 80s! I have recently wondered what's happened to Stephan Yan. He was very likable and entertaining, and it was very comforting whenever I would watch his show; he had a passing resemblance to my dad in his younger years. Well done, Mr Yan! :)

this show was my childhood lol. i was a weird little kid. that all said this guy was the bruce lee of asian cooking. he was authentic but also a pioneere in the west in that he showed us thru his humor and charisma a special culture of artisan chefs and cooks. i think channels on youtube, like "the taste show" , are what evolved from wok with yan. just good authentic passionate recipes and techniques

You ever have one of those moments where you forget a guy existed for more years than one can count on both hands, and then all the sudden randomly see him and somehow you remember the guy right away? I haven't seen this guy in over 30 years. And all the sudden I see him and I'm like, dude, it's "that guy!" In the 80s, this was my favorite show to watch after school. Not having cable tv, I did however have omni 1 and omni 2 and a few other reg channels you get on antenna. But this was the only thing I couldn't wait to watch when it was on.
