The European slave traders didn't want to leave the ships. Because there was no cure for malaria or the other disease's that they encountered there. It would be a lot of work to track down potential slaves and get them onto the ships. It was easier to buy them from other blacks. Which they did. They actually started buying slaves from countries in the middle east before they cut out the middle man and went to the African villages to buy them from other Africans.

They also don't talk about how the Arabs had the largest slave trade until Britain and the U.S's naval fleets took it on. There is almost never mention of how many white people owned slaves, majority didn't. Also literally never hear these "woke" people talk about modern day slavery still taking place in Africa, but I guess they need those children to mine the resources for their mobile phone batteries. [EDIT] Commented before watching the video, seem he brought it up anyways.

The extent to which black tribes sold Africans to Europeans for slave trade was marginal at best.. Europeans owned all the ships, controlled all the shipping of slaves, and then created a form of chattel slavery which was a racialized, perpetual, hereditary form of slavery specifically for people of African descent which was, In my opinion the most brutal type of slavery in human history. Yeah, that part somehow doesn't get mentioned enough either.

@@casualcausalityy THANK YOU. I was going to talk about that. Just HOW black are the populations of Arab countries? The answer is not very. I used to work with a Turk. Turks are essentially Mongols. Turks nowadays are Greek/Russian/Anatolian. What happened to a thousand years of black slave trade? WHERE are their children? The castration operation may have offed two out of every three who underwent it. Use of massive numbers of black slaves for agriculture resulted in a massive slave revolt. Slave soldiers were used all over the Arab world. The Turks' elite troops were Slavs and Greeks enslaved as children. Black slave troops were used in Spain and North Africa but not elsewhere, not in big numbers. My feeling is that you are right and most black slaves that ended east of Egypt were castrated.

@@noble_norse7786 not really the enuchs were (most of them) slaves, and most of those were black, imagine you are a Arab sultan ( or something close) and you need to go and fight in a war or go raiding or get invited by the emperor, well you can't bring your harem with you but if you leave the women alone they might get pregnant because of all your male servants that work in your palace, and if that happens you have to kill the woman and the slave and then you have to go look for a new woman and a new slave, too bothersome and expensive, better to castrate all of the male slaves so you are sure nothing funny happens while you are gone. It might seem a bit too violent and gory for it to be true, but remember back in those times women were seen as property and well those were very bloody times.

I am Nigerian. The corruption and nepotism that reeks in Nigerian polity is ungodly and devastating. Yes, i would prefer to remain under MY colonial masters at least I will live like a cattle in a pent with modern infrastructure and proper health care and security with enhanced opportunities to succeed even in a controlled environment. The current state in my country is so appalling that you have taxation without representation. Where political catels plunder the country without without mercy or thoughts to the common man who toils without complaints. Its only in Nigeria you hear the saying "suffering and smiling" as Fela Kuti sang. The recent abuse to Nigerians is the new so called Cybersecurity levy which charges 0.5% of any transacted amount. I leave the rest to your imagination to calculate the compound taxation on a given amount being transferred multiple times. The sad part is the money derived does not go to the state account but to an unaccountable political organization. In Nigeria, the police and military even coordinates more robbery and kidnapping at the same time disarming the population of any form of self defense. You pay the armed police to get personal security if you can afford it. If you need running water in your tap, you have to drill bore holes, if you need electricity you have to buy diesel generator, if you need job you have to own your own business where you have to pay exorbitant tax to the street thugs, local, state and Federal government. All without basic utilities and security feom the state. Yes, would prefer to remain under colonialism at least it life will be better of.

My ancestors were run out of Ireland by starvation even as England exported food from Ireland to England and other countries. Ethnic cleansing! They came to America with nothing and lived lives of poverty as day laborers. Many signed up to fight the south in the Civil War, not because it was their war but it gave them pay. They were discriminated against here in America for many years. Do I get reparations for their sufferings from England? Can I bring a case of discrimination against the USA? No, and no and they wouldn't want me to be such a weak person making money off their backs. They could have ended up in the workhouses in Ireland and died, but they journeyed on the death ships and made it here. I'm proud to carry their genes and grateful for their endurance through adversity. Stand tall and do your ancestors proud instead of belly aching about the past. The word "slave" comes from "slavic" self reference to the Slavic people of Slovenia and throughout Europe used as slaves by Spanish Muslim community. Is there an ethnic group that hasn't been slaves at one time or another or been subject to ethnic cleansing? Nope! I'm not paying anyone for reparations or getting reparations. Go to school, get the education you need, study, get a job and make something of yourself and honor those that came before you. Period!

You can be modest, polite, and humble and still staunchly defend the greatness your nation has brought to the world. The main problem as I see it with the current moronic zeitgeist of neo-Marxist twits raging through our institutions in the West is not their clamoring over the past sins of the West but their utter and complete neglect of gratitude for all that the West has brought the world. When they talk about how evil Western Capitalism is the reply ought to be “Compared to what?” They will likely blather on about some imaginary Marxist utopia that has never and will never be (yes, Marxism has been tried, and failed). The next reply ought to be, “Right! Feel free to divest yourselves of all the vestiges of Western life and relocate to your favorite Marxist experiment around the world-there are plenty to choose from-and have a go at perfecting your worldview!” They will, of course, punt on that proposition, at which point they ought to be marginalized and ignored until they grow up.

He thought it was actually a good thing. He said if there was a famine they bought the teenagers, leaving enough food for the adults and younger children, if there was a troublemaker in a village that person was sold to the slavers to keep harmony and it prevented wars because of the threat of a captured warrior being sold. Our government thought that every other nation deserved our money more than us and went out of their way to tax us even more to pay for their vanity project! @@Crunt2167 Bull! The end of slavery didn't end racial discrimination in the US, but the 4 million Blacks in 1865 were certainly not imprisoned. Where do you get your disinformation. Also it was the democrats North and South who did the most to hold blacks back, and they still are.

The arguments by this historian are infact VERY POWERFUL AND NOT EVEN COMPLETE. In Britain 85% of the British public couldn't even vote until between 1880 and 1920 which means they had no political power even if they had wanted to change anything. On top of that the 'empire' didn't become an empire until the mid to late 1700s. So the British public wouldn't have been aware of there even being an organised empire for more than 150 years let alone the fact apart from the introduction of sugar and tobacco they didn't benefit from the empire AT ALl. The whole narrative surrounding the empire is at best unbelievably inaccurate and at worst a complete and total hoax. The beneficiaries of the empire's wealth were highly specific ruling and merchant elites that at the most represented 15% of the British population if not quite possibly far less. All these things are factually and historically a matter of record and 100% checkable. Most Britons never ventured 30 miles from their homes. This is why there are so many regional accents that at one time were even more multifarious than now

My ancestors were serfs in a feudal system, prior to that they were slaves to the Roman Empire, and also the Norman invasion. Can I get reparations too?

Absolutely, referring to your slavery. As a Greek speaking Roman, my ancestors were slaves that lived outside that great city. I'm referring to Byzantium, just in case, historically, you do not know.. I however, doubt the Orthodox Church would hand me reparations, except ask me to pray.

Very true when william landed in Pevensey bay 0ctober 1066 and beat Harold of the saxons , his first acts were to distribute manors and the feudal manorial system where everyone was in servitude to the Normans. Basically you were owned by the Lord of the manor

The question of"who"would pay for reperations is the big question. My ancestors never owned slaves and several family members fought and died fighting in the civil war to end slavery. So, am I supposed to shell out guilt money when I have nothing to feel guilty about. All this reperation business is is just another attempt to demand a handout instead of a hand up. Just how many, (and I mean anyone), receiving a good chunk of money would tend to be forward thinking enough to spend it wisely? If you are not used to having a substantial amount of money, most likely few would know to spend it to where their money makes them more money via investments and judiocious saving, The whole idea is NOT a win win situation for anyone.
