This is 100% a go-around, not just for the fans, but to keep money trickling in for Larian while they develop their next game(s). Jesus. Christ. Larian is making game history. If modders go wild with the scenario/campaign editor, this game will accompany me into my grave. That being said, I'm actually using clerics quite often. In my extended party of 8 (all main chars + Jaheira - PixellBytes' Adjustable Party + Tactician Enhanced mods), I have Gale (Ice Sorc/Evo Wiz) dipped 2 levels in Tempest Cleric, Shadowheart Tempest Cleric with 2-level Evo Wiz dip, and Jaheira full Life Cleric. Planning to get 2 level Evo Wiz also on my Ice Sorc main when I hit 12 for the sake of eliminating friendly fire and avoiding roasting the meleers with deadly AOE spells.

Chi = Chinese pronunciation Ki = Japanese pronunciation It's the same word with same meaning, it's just the way it's pronounced in those languages. The different spellings are due to the Romanisation of how they pronounce the word. Similarly, Sun Wukong (Chinese) is known/pronounced as "Son Goku" in Japanese. Yes, the Dragon Ball character based on the Monkey King is literally just called Sun Wukong but with a Japanese "accent"/dialect.

The two variants have been used to describe different things at time, which only adds to the confusion. In the Golden Sun games, for example, they were indeed different things, with Chi being an energy of the body used in Kung Fu, and Ki being a spiritual power, which was also called Psynergy, the elemental powers that you as the player used. This is of course the English version, I have no idea what the original Japanese version used in these cases.

I just finished a 4 year real life campaign as a shadow sorcerer in dnd 5e and the hound of Ill omen is one of the most fun subclass features I've ever played with. Giving your strongest enemies disadvantage on spell saves all the time is such a huge power spike.

Toll of the Dead was added to Tasha's Guide to Everything in 5E a few years ago. It was such a good addition to the Cleric's repertoire in tabletop

Really nice surprise and looking forward to the subclasses: Glamour Bard: Is perfect to control the battlefield. Awesome support class. Most enemies will fear his command. Barb Giant: Simple fun. Although it will porbably miss out the huge feature it gets at level 14. I would have prefered Path of the beast here. Death Cleric: Finally a cleric with some more necro potency. At level 6 he should get a feature to overcome the resistances there as well. Star Druid: Unfortunatly not many take druid as you get two of them in your team. But star druid calls for visit do the shadow lands. Oath of the crown: I'm positivly surprised as it's not the most popular. I actually love to see it as it is one of the few things that supports a real tank/bodyguard with a good taunt. Arcane Archer: A way cooler archer although it looses some of it's splendor because you get so many special arrows and how elemental arrows work in the game. Drunken Master Monk: Already had my Karlach once on the drunk weapon set so why not this class as well. Swarmkeeper Ranger: I'm dissapointed that they didn't go for a pixie swarm as choice. Dolly dolly wants some friends. Could have given that subclass a special feature for act 2. Swashbucker Rouge: I was one of them hoping to see it one day. Shadow Magic: Congrats you now can blast out of darkness. Hexblade Warlock: No need to multiclass your warlock anymore for some decent close combat. A very cool close combat version. Bladesinging Wizard: Thx to bladesong you can focus on a high int wizard early on, who'll have high AC as well. Considering some items you really could get a hard to hit frontline wizard. I really thought we only would got some fixes and the photo mode. Would have been fine by me. At that point I even could imagine them bringing the artificer class as well. I really appreciate how much love this game gets from it's developers even after more than a year now.

Drunken Master is one of the most fun builds to play in 5E tabletop. "Tipsy Sway" is amazing, it's like "Redirect Missiles" but with melee attacks, and getting a free Disengage + bonus 10ft of movement added to Flurry of Blows provides near-broken levels of mobility.

From Software produces better games at a much more rapid pace. Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, and Armored Core 6 came out in basically the amount of time it took Larian to make two games, Divinity 2 and BG3.

@@Childofbhaal That is a matter of taste. I like Elden Ring a lot, but I VASTLY prefer tactical turn based combat over action combat. As good as Elden Ring is (by far the best FromSoft game btw) - BG3 is at least 2 levels above Elden Ring....and every other game in existance, including heavy hitters like the Mass Effect trilogy, Dragon Age: Origins and Witcher 3. And in terms of character interaction and roleplaying it's not even a question - most FromSoft games barely qualify as RPGs because there are almost no NPCs to interact with that populate the world. They are actually more action games with roleplay mechanics than actual RPGs (excluding AC6 - that is a full blown action game). Speaking of the release cadence - FromSoft has had hundreds of employees for many years now. In 2014 Fromsoft had about 280 employees compared to Larian's 51. What a shocking surprise that a studio with as many employees as FromSoft can develop multiple games at the same time and release more games than a studio with only 1 team! A true miracle! Not to mention that FromSoft games (Elden Ring excluded) are much smaller in size than Larian's games.

@@Hauke-ph5ui Like you said, it’s a matter of taste. I grew up playing D&D and CRPG games and BG3 is not that special to me. It’s not even better than BG2. It’s another CRPG set in the Forgotten Realms, the difference being they threw a huge amount of budget for high production which wows people. I don’t care about that. I don’t care about mocapping and full voice acting. I care more about characters and writing and depth. BG3 is shallow and surface level in that department. Souls games are like classic D&D adventures. You build a character, equip them with gear, go on an adventure or quest and defeat awesome monsters. Level up, progress you character, do it again. There doesn’t have to be a sim like element to RPGs where you’re acting out your character inner fantasies and charming women and blah blah. Just give me gameplay. Give me stuff to kill and progression for my character to be awesome.

@@Childofbhaal Sorry but calling BG3 "shallow and surface level" is utter and complete nonsense. Souls games are NOT like D&D adventures whatsoever. D&D is an RPG and what matters in a tabletop campaign is actually roleplaying, not testing who can read boss attacks the best and push buttons the fastest. Soulsgames in general are just action games - and character writing in Soulsgames basically doesn't exist because there are barely any characters at all - and almost none of them have any character development at all. It is hard to believe that you care about writing and character development as you just claimed you contradict yourself immediately because character development doesn't exist in Soulsgames. All you can do in soulsgames is learning about the background lore and events that happened in a distant past, that's it. The few characters that do exist don't have any development to speak of - all you can do is follow their one-dimensional questlines with no room for any character development whatsoever. Not to mention that you seem to lack an understanding of what roleplaying even is because "You build a character, equip them with gear, go on an adventure or quest and defeat awesome monsters. Level up, progress you character, do it again" is NOT roleplaying. Roleplaying is playing a role in a a world that reacts to the player(s). Bossfights - or fighting in general actually - is not even necessarily a part of roleplaying at all. Computer "RPGs" are extremely restrictive to actual roleplaying which can only be done in a tabletop session or - even better - in LARP.

the 12 new subclasses as a free update is insanely good - imagine this was what they wanted to do as DLC but decided they wanted to focus on their next game instead. The Photo Mode i dont care about at all. Can people that do, give me some insight as to why this is something that really matters?

Because it gives one the opportunity to admire the character details and lets us conserve experiences we had in the game. You can make the top down, static turn based fights, into epic, well framed art pieces.

The fact that it works in dialogue, combat and in cutscenes makes it more appealing to me. I was expecting it to just work in the overworld and that's it, but with it working in those places as well, really allows from creative or epic shots, or to role play a scenario in your head.
