Regiments is a Real-Time Tactics game set in Germany 1989. The Cold War has gone hot, and the inferno is raging. Lead your Regiment through the fires of conflict and the fog of war. Break through the lines, call in artillery, maneuver, feign retreats, stage defenses, counter-attack. Do not relent.

Units which retreat do not lose experience, it's a way to retain experience in a damaged unit while refitting them to fill strength. Retreating units also gain an evasion bonus.

Also treelines and buildings can provide a defense bonus. Look for a little orange shield when placing units for the defense bonus.

Small advice - mortars will automatically attack targets in range, contrary to artillery, which you must order to attack position.

It's harder to micromanage them due to the enemy's counter-battery attack lol

@TEXOCMOTP I think he means that with the mortars auto firing they sometimes get pasted by enemy arty without you noticing but not much to be done about it really other than paying close attention.

Also you can use the mortars to shoot smoke which works very good for retreating a hurt unit also with attacking a point you can block there vision so they can’t see you

Those mortars, if they're the ones I'm thinking of, IRL could pump out a scary barrage and suppress a large area.

A small tip, use scouts, they really change the game and open up the battlefield, keep them on hold fire and they will out spot most of the units!

How close do you bring scouts to an enemy objective? I keep on having the issue of my scouts simply not being able to find anything, forcing me to rely on area recon

@@patchouliknowledge4455 Line of Sight since always obvious, Thick Forests and Urban area or just Buildings on a objective will obscure line of sight. Recon units have superior Vision range to other units, About the size of Tanks Main cannon range. Generally put your Recon in a Open area or at the edge of forests and you would be surprised what they can find.

So a lot of infantry seems to have MANPAD's and they are pretty damn accurate, also if your heli's use your flares you need to go get them reloaded at a supply unit or point. As long as your Transports ie BTR's BMP's survive they can get new troops at a supply point as well, not to mention just as in Wargame you need RECON, you need them desperately because your engagement range is well beyond your sight range.

I'd love to see multiplayer come to Regiments. Could be a dead dream, but the allure of playing with (and against) other tactically-minded people is strong. At the very least I'd love to play with my buddies, and I wouldn't mind losing to someone like Wolfpack, either.

Use supply truck to replenish unit ammo as well as durability. Make use of the retreat command for units that are going to die. Experience is CRUCIAL and retreated units come back much faster than dead ones. Late game, max veterancy tank companies are absolute giga chads that can chew up green tank companies even when outnumbered 3-1. Always remember to periodically move your mortar forward. Many times I see you use the attack command on targets far beyond the mortar's range. Use shift button to see unit range and LOS. Once you have proper field artillery instead of mortar, then you can leave them in the rear and not worry about moving them forward. Make use of smoke more often when attacking a position to conceal enemy LOS; they are actually your most important tactical aid as they enable you to defeat your enemy in detail.

Loving this game, I'm already almost done with the campaign and absolutely loved it. There's a lot of variation in missions, it isn't like other RTS campaigns were its all variations of "capture and hold point A, and here's a crappy stealth mission too" but actually doing night raids with a small contingent, securing a section of highway so your allies can retreat, etc. Cant wait to see more!

Absolutely agree. This is back to gameplay I've enjoyed so much from Wolfpack345. I've missed that unique and very smooth performance-based narrative. This is what I enjoyed watching in the past, but which got derailed by the RU invasion of UKR. Didn't set well to be rooting for the Orcs. This I can live with.

Retreating your units actually saves the experience. I you loose a unit the experience is lost.

the retreat mechanic is like the company of heros one if you know that except they run off the map instead of to the base very useful and many of the units pop smoke when they do so they get a base bonus to evasion but the ones with smoke get better evasion and they don't actually have to leave the whole map they just disappear after a period of time just to simulate a withdrawal. they retain veterancy when they run so if one of your good tank brigades loses a tank often best to run them off the map as someone else stated your infantry will often lose men but they can be replaced at supply trucks as long as their carriers are still there but once they lose a carrier they don't come back so usually same deal with them unless they are vital.

It will be more interesting if there are paratroopers and airborne units in the game. Where the Mi 24 hind will no longer only be the flying rocket launcher and get tear down by SAM and SPAAs when out of rockets. Instead, the Hinds and Mi-8s can carry Spetsnaz and airdrop infantrymen. While Mi-26s can deliver combat vehicles to isolated objectives. It can buff the Warsaw Pact in term of airborne power. At the same time, the NATO side can also be strengthened in this way

Im not sure you know what i know or maybe im misreading but it does have veterancy, its just kind of slow to promote you retreating your guys early (to prevent death)

I don't think you do lose the experience when you retreat a unit? I could be wrong but I've always sent units back when they are down to 1 or 2 units and it keeps the experience. Great video as always :)

yeah you only lose the exp if unit is destroyed and then redeployed

I have never played this. Does concealment mean nothing in this game? Why going over open fields when there are patches of forest you can position the mortars behind? Or even push through/around. Anything feels better than going across flat open fields...
