How absolutely sweet. ❤️❤️ Bless these people for rescuing them and giving them a wonderful life. My neighbor’s mom told me that my neighbor had cancer some years ago. And when she was extremely ill from chemo, a squirrel 🐿 started appearing outside her window. Finally after he had been appearing for some weeks, they opened the window. He came in, looked around and just sat there for a little bit. And then he left. He’d come every day to see my neighbor during her illness. And she recovered and has been cancer free for more than 10 years. I noticed a squirrel at the beginning of this summer who had no hair on her tail. I worried about her and looked out for her. A few weeks later I saw my neighbor’s dad feeding that squirrel. He told me she had babies and he worried about her having enough feed. I told him, “God Bless you for helping her.” My neighbor and her parents always look out for animals in the neighborhood. We’ve got a pond at the entrance of our neighborhood and there are Canada Geese and Mallard ducks 🦆 that come to the pond. My neighbor and her folks always make sure to herd them and their goslings and ducklings to the bigger, safer pond. (Where there are no cars)

They definitely are adorable and intelligent, but they're a TON of work and very expensive to keep with having to buy a variety of fresh veggies and fruit every week on top of their squirrel blocks. It's completely different from having a dog or cat. You can never leave them unsupervised because they chew on wires, walls, baseboards, furniture, etc., and you cannot potty train them so they pee and poop all over. They also tend to become aggressive as they get older to anyone in the household other than their main caregiver. Unfortunately that's when many people decide to release them, and by that time, they're so used to being taken care of that they don't know how to forage and have lost their fear of humans and other animals (since most poeple who take in squirrels have other pets), so they die pretty quick out in the wild. A squirrel unafraid of dogs or cats is a dead squirrel in the wild.

What's wrong with killing ground squirrels. They are pests and spread diseases.
@dankster9903 жыл бұрын
@@PreservationEnthusiast no you are so wrong they dont actually spread any diseases
@vangogo68193 жыл бұрын
@@dankster990 They don't spread disease but they tend to get into the roof and walls of houses where they continually chew on things, because squirrels teeth grow all the time. A lot of house fires have been caused by them chewing on electrical wiring . I love all animals and personally don't kill anything but I live in the country and most people where I live see wild animals as just that, wild animals, not cute-cuddly Disney creatures, that's humanizing them which isn't even fair to the animal, look at how these two males naturally hate each other, instinct tells them that only one of them can have that "territory".

Squirrels are very appreciative, very smart, playful, funny, crazy, nutty, energetic, friendly, and the first animal to treat you like a friend if you feed wildlife (from the animals I interacted with). They are native to this land, they help the planet and all animals by planting seeds which they forget about and then become trees. They're a trees best friend, and trees are their best friends as well. How green is that!?

"aggressive special needs squirrel" 😂😂
@Sheltieshangrila3 жыл бұрын
Almost all rescue squirrels become aggressive to anyone other than their main caregiver after they've hit a certain age. That's a fact. Unfortunately that's when inexperienced rescuers don't know what to do, so they decide to release them to the wild. But by that time, the squirrel has never learned foraging skills and has lost their fear of humans and other animals (b/c most people willing to take in a squirrel have other pets like dogs and cats), so they die pretty quickly outside. Either that or that's when they'll call a licensed rescuer to take their squirrel, and the rescuer then has to keep them for 20+ years, or find someone who will. And that's not an easy task because it's a loooooong and expensive commitment.

@Alex Nelson I agree 100%. Some squirrels though aren't releasable like my last rescue, Willamina. She has neurological issues (depth perception and balance), which we assume is due to hitting her head when she fell out of her nest as a baby. So she's most likely going to be with me for 20+ years. God willing, I'll live that long.
